The Promise
Chapter 3: Training::Happy Birthday
AN: Hey Guys, so yeah, I'm terribly sorry that I've made you wait so long, but this chapter was really hard for me because it's not very eventful xD I'm sorry for that too! But don't worry Ch. 5 and on should be pretty interesting! Right now i'm just getting a few main characters in and the story set :) I've also decided to not give Kanda his own chapter. They shall be attached to Allen's because a lot of them a very short. If i write a particularly long chapter for Kanda he will have his own :) So this chapter, like i said is not very interesting, but it's important none the less :) OH and Btw, I've been doing a lot of Cross bashing, but in all honesty General Cross is one of my favorite characters! I adore him. I enjoy that man with passion. I just needed a mean character and he sort of fits. AND OMG! I JUST FOUND OUT D. GREY- MAN WASN'T A COMPLETE SERIES :O I was convinced that it was over, but no, here i am waiting for ch 219! (which is already out i just don't have access to it on my favorite manga site.
Kanda's P.O.V.
8 years old
How could I have let them take him? The Moyashi can't fend for himself. What kind of person lets their friend get stolen away?
"Kanda!" I heard Moa yell, "Are you okay? Wake up!"
My eyes flew open to find the crying woman, "I'm up." I stated coldly. Moa seemed shocked by my tone.
I stood up from where i collapsed and headed for the house. My body aching all over reminded about the current events which made me want to cry like the child I am, but I didn't.
Just as I walked through the door I saw my dad rushing towards me.
"Kanda! What happened? Is Allen with you?" He looked around for my only friend.
"They took him" I didn't exactly know who "They" were but my dad's look indicated that he did. "Do you know anything about this?" my father hesitated for a bit.
"Well Allen is the King's nephew. Mana got a letter saying that they were coming for Allen. Because KingMarian doesn't have an heir and is unable to produce one. It came in yesterday."
"Why didn't you tell Allen and me? He had no idea what was going on!" I yelled at my father and he flinched. I couldn't find it in myself to even care at that moment.
"We didn't know they were coming so soon. The plan was to leave today, but... recent event prevented that." I had almost forgotten. It didn't seem like Mr. Walker had died this morning. It feels like it's been ages since his death.
"What ever." I ran off to my room. I thought back to the promise i made to the Moyashi. I won't ever break a promise. But I can't get him back as I am now. I need to get stronger.
Reaching for Mugen i headed outside. A mile later I etched my destination. It was the river Moyashi and i swam at often.
I stretched out my limbs and began swinging my sword, Mugen, around. Hours passed feeling like minutes. I balanced myself on a fallen tree trunk Moyashi and i used to cross the river. Which weren't supposed to cross.
*flashback*
"Come on Kanda!" Allen yelled happily, "Or are you too scared? That must be it! You're afraid Mr. Tiedoll is gonna yell at you!" that struck a nerve with me.
"You're gonna regret that Moyashi!" I ran after him, travelling deep into the woods. I could hear his laughter fade. I looked to see why he stopped. There was a large clearing. It was beautiful.
"Wow." Was all he could mutter out, for a moment anyways. "Kanda! This could be your training ground! The plants are getting out of control on your old one."
He was right, this would be a good place to train. I pulled out Mugen and began training.
*end of flashback*
MY body ached all over, but not from exhaustion. Moyashi had liked to watch me train. He said it looked like a dance. Look at me! He's been gone less than a day and I'm talking as if he's been dead for years!
I began meditating to clear my mind. When i reopened my eyes i noticed the sun had fallen and the stars were very visible.
Heading by the secret hide-out i walked inside and looked around. I don't know why, but i had the urge to go in. I say a broken beaded bracelet laying on the floor. It was Allen;s brcelet that Mr. Walker had given him. I fixed the broken bracelet, slipped it on and made my way home.
I'm coming for you Allen.
*-_/^2daysLater^\_-*
I shot up from my bed and looked around.
"Allen?!" calming down i came to my senses. I t was just a dream. A horrifying dream none the less.
Allen was being beaten ny the king. The worst part was that I couldn't help him. I watched him suffer helplessly. Once i get him back I'll definitely protect him.
I realized how tired i was after the adrenaline from the nightmare wore off and i nodded off back to sleep.
"Kanda?" I heard Allen call.
"Yeah?" I answered cooly.
"Do you miss me?" he asked hopefully.
"No stupid-" I was interrupted by a crestfallen face and disappointed 'oh'.
"I don't miss you because i know you'll be back soon." I stated and he visibly cheered up. "So what going on at the castle?"
His face faltered a bit before he smiled brightly, too brightly at that. "Well, I've made some friends." He listed them off, but I was more concerned on the fact that he was hiding something.
"What's wrong?"
"What do you mean? Nothing." He said quickly.
"Don't you know that I'm not stupid?" I asked harshly. I calmed down and then said, "Tell me what's wrong."
"W-well, the king hurt me, real bad." he answered hesitantly. The dream i had literally just had popped into my mind .
Growling I said, "What? How?"
He explained everything.
"On a better note" I almost interrupted him saying that this wasn't over, "how's it there without me?"
I sighed, thinking it over. This is just a dream so I might as well tell him the truth.
"Hell, I miss you. You're my only friend after all." I smiled a small smile. One I will definitely show the real Allen.
(AN: That was the original end of Chapter 3 but then i decided to combine Ch4 part 1 with it because it was short)
Allen P.O.V.
6 years old
"Happy Birthday to you!" the small group of people sand quietly.
"Hurry Allen! Make a wish." Clair said excitedly to me.
"Alright!" I blew out my candles and made a wish.
I wish Kanda will keep his promise
"What did you wish for Prince Allen?" Goz asked.
"I as-" I was interrupted.
"Don't you know that if you tell what you wish for it won't come true?" A sophisticated woman's voice came.
"I looked up to see a lady with blonde twin tails and a blue and white ball gown standing next to a man who looked like he could be Dracula.
"Lady Eliade! Sir Aristar!" Clair and Jerry exclaimed while Mark just rolled his eyes.
"Hello, It's been far too long! Also I've told you to just call me Krory, haven't I?"
"Aristar Krory? The vampire? That's so cool! Are you really a vampire?" I asked excitedly.
"I am no Vampire just a count. That rumor has been spread about my family since my father was a child. And you must be Allen, right? This is my wife Eliade, isn't she just beautiful? I don't know wha-" Eliade hit Krory up side the head.
"Let the boy speak, dear."
After some small talk I found they were here to celebrate Christmas, which just so happens to be my birthday.
One by one each person left my room. First Jerry, then Goz, then Mark, Clair, and finally Eliade and Krory lefty.
I satred at my cake Jerry had made. It read:
Happy 6th Birthday Prince Allen!
There was that title again. Prince Allen. I hate being associated with that terrible man, Cross. My dad's half brotherand king of this country, just so happens to be my least favorite person.
Suddenly, said red-headed man burst in through my door. And then stopped abruptly,
"Allen, what is that?" he gestured to my cake.
"U-um, my cake." I said nervously. Marian Cross had done nothing but beat me bloody once a fortnight.
"Whatdya have a cake for?"he dipped his finger into my chocolate icing.
"It's my birthday, master."he had me calling him that for God knows why.
He gave me a blank stare. The face he gives before locking me away or beating me. I started to cower like any other six year old would.
"Your birthday, eh? How about a present?"
"That's quite al-"
"I'm going to teach you how to play a game." I froze, a game? What kind of game?
"O-okay." he felt around his pocket and pulled out a stack of red and white cards.
"Ever heard of 'poker'?"
"No, sir."
"Well, before i say anything let me tell you what's important. Your hand is not important, it the other person's hand." I didn't understand what he meant until after we started playing. Apparently i was catching on fast because before i knew i was winning every time. The i started loosing really bad.
"A new aspect of poker i'm going to teach you about is the darker side." He grinned maliciously, "The cheating side."
We spent some time going over several cheating techniques, they were all too easy. I didn't understand how anyone could loose at this game.
By the end of the morning i was winning every game again. Clair burt through the door, "Allen I have a prese- Hello your majesty." Clair curtsied at the red-headed man.
"What are you doing here? Your work area is near the garden, and also speaking to the Prince so casually!" I noticed her slipping a small box next to the candle on my night table.
"Yes, sir. I'm terribly sorry. I'll be on my way now."
"Good riddance. Well Allen I'd say you either already knew how to play and are just lying to me," my eyes widened in shock as i shook my head no, "or you're a poker prodigy. Be ready for the Christmas dinner tonight."He let out a small smile I'd never seen. "oh, and Happy Birthday Allen." I was astonished at how nice he was being. Could things finally be changing?
I walked over to the present. It was wrapped white and tied with a red ribbon. I slowly untied it. Inside was a picturefrom home. Mana, Yuu, Moa, Tiedoll and I were all smiling at the camera. Well Yuu wasn't exactly smiling but close enough. I felt a few tears slip down my face, i missed them so so much. The was a note on the back of it.
Happy Birthday Allen. I hope you haven't forgotten me or our promise.
-Kanda
Nothing made since. I should've learned to read when i had lived with Mana. One thing i did understand was the chibi drawing of Yuu near the bottom.
I decided that exploring the castle would be fun. After all i've lived here for a year and still haven't looked around.
I passed the ballroom, the swimming area, and finally I found a garden. The most beautiful flowers decorated the room. I'd never seen an indoor garden. How did they keep the plants alive?
A little girl with long straight blonde hair held back with a blue butterfly clip sat in the corner of the garden. She was softly stroking a wilting flower with her tan hands. To my surprise the flower came back to life when she started humming. I let out a small gasp and she turned around. Big green eyes widened in shock and she ran into a hidden part of the garden.
"Wait!" I chased after her. Following her path i hit a dead end. On the ground was her blue butterfly clip. I leaned over to get using the wall for support seeing as I was out of breath. Suddenly I fell through the wall. Well not exactly.
After falling through i noticed the hinges. It was a small door, hidden by twisting vines. I looked up to see the little girl leave the palace. Curious, I also exited, but then I remembered the Christmas dinner. This would be an adventure for another day.
I looked at her butterfly clipped and noticed a small inscription on it in. Chouko. Man I really need to learn to read!
AN: FINALLY. I've had this chapter finished for so long in my notebook, butI;ve finally gotten it on my computer! Please enjoy! Btw, Chouko is my OC, she is me. Looks like me, acts like me. I don't have wonderful healing skills as she obviously does xD But Her name means "Butterfly(Chou) Child(ko)"just a little education stuff for ya xD (I'm obsessed with blue butterflies! :D
