AN: HOLY CRAP Two updates in one day? I'm on a roll! (Don't expect this to ever happen again unless I abandon for for months again xD) So I decided due to a very influential PM from my good friend, who just so happens to read this story, (we found out today, during our PM who the other person was, it was quite hilarious xD ) to continue this story for now and just fix it later! She threatened my life, and since she knows where I live I will talk her threat seriously xD Thank you dear for kicking some common sense back into me!
I completely forgot to add in a whole entire part with the last chapter because I was so caught up in the sad moment. So It will be in this chapter instead, so Sorry if this chapter seems rushed! *cough cough it was cough cough*
Chapter 10: Escaping the Inevitable
Allen's POV
14-15 years old
"Cross! Why do I have to get married? You're ot married! I can rule this kingdom on my own, you know that!As a matter of fact I'm more capable than you!" I cry out angry with him. I had long since learned to evade his beating, and since the day I came back from Narain's he's been less easy to agitate. I saw my uncle Neah here more and more, which made me happy, though he never did tell me why he was here. My uncles spent a suspicious amount of time together, even though Neah supposedly feared Cross's perverted ways.
"We're particularly low on allies and I want you to marry the princess of one of the neighboring countries just in case a war is to break out. Word has spread that some people aren't very happy with us."
"With you." I corrected.
"Yeah, yeah whatever. The ball will be held tonight." He said waving his hand.
"Wait, tonight? Why such short notice?" I practically yelled. "What if I already have someone I love?"
"If you're referring to that servant boy, that's a bit unacceptable. keep that kind of stuff behind closed doors."
"Tyki? Of course it's not him! Love is far from what I feel for him." His occasional "Accidental" gropes were making me extremely uncomfortable but I didn't know how to bring it to Cross's attention. Apparently he noticed and thought I liked it. Gross. When I think love, he is NOT who comes to mind. A flash a long dark hair tied in a high ponytail flashed in my mind.
"Then who, idiot?"
"You don't know him, and never will." I had long since given up on Kanda keeping his promise. He'd probably already forgotten about me.
"Oh but I bet I do." My eyes snap up to the red headed king's. "It's Tiedoll's boy isn't it? You always carry around his stuff that you've somehow aquired. Just know this, you will never see him again. Don't waste your feelings on a nobody." Anger filled my mind.
"You don't know anything!" But he did. And I did, too. I needed to stop relying on Kanda's promise he made when we were children. After all that's all it was, a child's promise. I stomped out of the room to prepare for this ball I'd have to suffer through.
"Allen, you're back so soon?" I heard Tyki's voice as I entered my room. On guard I walked over to my dresser.
"Yes, there is a ball tonight to see who I will be marrying i nthe future." I stated simply.
"Marriage?!" His eyes were wild for a bit before he recovered. "You mustn't be happy with this." He said turning away.
"Of course not. Why would I want to marry someone I don't love?" I say with a tone of irritation.
"Sir, your tone isn't that of your usual one. May I ask what has you in such a foul mood, other than the marriage problem? Could it be that you're following Cross in his bratty ways?" He said boldly.
"I could have you fired for that comment. Be careful Tyki." I say sending him a glare. He replies with a glare that rivals mine momentarily before crushing it.
"No, boy~" He chuckled, "I suggest you be careful. I believe you've forgotten what I was capable of and who I am." My whole body froze at the feeling of Tyki brushing his against mine. I shuddered as his tongue made contact with my ear.
"What the hall are you doing?" I practically squeal and pull away quickly. He only smirks.
"Just giving you a warning. Don't treat me as if I'm just a normal servant." He seethed before exiting the room. I just stared ast the door he walked out of in shock. What the hell?
Deciding that I would have a very serious talk with Cross later I continue to get ready for the ball. Once dressed in my attire for a prince (imagine something similar to his 3rd uniform) I walked out of the room, slipping Kanda's ribbon in my pocket. I look in the mirror down the hallway. Most admired my perfect creamy white skin but I just hated it. I couldn't hide from anyone nowadays, since I've finally grown to the average height for someone my age. Being completely white just made everything harder. My silver pools weren't as joyful as they used to be, but rather shone with fake happiness instead. I sighed before continuing to Cross's office, that I was now allowed to enter.
I was about to open the door when I heard the familiar sound of my Uncle Neah's voice. It seemed as if he was trying to sustain moans.
"Come on, why are you holding back, Neah." Came Cross's rough voice.
"What if someone hears? That would be terrible f someone found us out." I sweat dropped. This was hald expected from Cross, but now even Neah has fallen into the darkness.
"Too late for that!" I call, "Put on your clothes, I'm coming in twenty second from now. I chuckled at the swears and swift rustling of clothing. Suddenly the door opened to reveal a disheveled Neah whose face was flushed either from their previous activities or embarrassment. Maybe both.
"Allen, it's not what you think!"
"Oh trust me, I believe it is." I laugh before entering.
"Cross, I dislike you more and more I come in this room." I sigh.
"Alright kid, what do you want?" I looked at him as if he was crazy.
"The ball? Tonight? RIGHT NOW!" I yell. His eyes were filled with realization.
"Oh yeah." He got up and headed out the room leaving Neah and I staring after the idiot.
"Good luck with him." I say sarcastically to my blushing uncle. I then make my way out of the room to the ballroom where people were already beginning to show up. I socialized and made connections, swiped the ladies off their feet, and attacked the food table. Hey! I had to get the real me in there somewhere. While eating some dango I felt someone pull on my coat. There was a little girl with light brown curls in a yellow dress tugging on my jacket.
"Yes, milady?" I say crouching down to her height.
"Can you hand me a cupcake?" She said smiling at me. Returning the smile I mumble a sure before handing her one of the delicious cupcakes Jerry had made.
"My name is Emily, what's yours?" She said cheerily eating her cupcake with the best of manners possible for someone her age. She looked around six or seven.
"I'm Prince Allen, but you can call me Allen." I say winking at her. She giggled, "How old are you Miss Emily? Aren't you a little young to be at this kind of party?" I ask curiously.
"I'll have you know I am nine years old!" She said pouting. "I'm here with my cousin. She's here because our cousin wants her to marry the prince that lives in his castle. I don't want her to get married! Then she'll go away!" She said, upset.
"Well I don't want to get married either." I said. She looked up shocked.
"Are you the prince of THIS castle?" She said eyes wide. I nodded. She squealed. "I wouldn't mind her marrying YOU! Then I could come visit the two of you often! Will you please meet her?" Hesitantly I nodded, not wanting to hurt her feelings. She grabbed my hand and dragged me across the ballroom to a girl with long dark brown hair in a brilliant purple gown. She was absolutely stunning. And that was coming from someone who didn't swing that way. She looked between the two of us a gasped.
"I'm so sorry! Please excuse her!" She said pulling Emily towards her.
"No it's quite alright. She's a little charmer." I wink at her again. "She insisted that I meet you." I held out my hand to hers. "My names is Prince Allen, and yours, milady?"
"Princess Lenalee Lee. I'm from the country know as Order." She placed her hand in mine and I brought it to my lips.
"Pleasure to meet you." I say smiling. "So, I'd ask what brings you to my castle but I think I might know the answer." We both chuckled.
"I'm actually only here because my brother wanted to check you out to see if your could be deemed worthy to be my husband. He's a bit protective. But my parents have insisted upon me marrying like my brother has." She explained. I nodded.
"I'm here because the king of my country is a psycho." I mumbled under my breath though it seems she heard me.
"Oh trust me, I know! He came to visit us once and that is a visit I will never forget. It seems as if you're not like him though." She whispered.
"No, I am far more... civilized?" I chuckle.
"Then I think we'll be great friends!" She laughed. At the beginning of a new song I held my hand out once more.
"May I have this dance, Princess?" I say in a joking manner, ignoring the fact that the situation was real.
"Why of course, oh valiant Prince!" She said just as dramatically. The rest of the night was filled with laughs and jokes. She was a great person. Someone who'd I consider a good friend, close to a best friend.
"Tonight has been wonderful." She said to me. "But, Allen, I must say, I hope I haven't led you to believe anything that isn't true. I do not wish to marry. It's one of those things I'd rather stay away from." She said as the night neared it's end.
I shook my head, "To be honest neither do I. This ball was actually thrown on me tonight." she gasped.
"Really? We were informed months ago!" I looked at her shocked.
"Stupid Cross." I mumble.
"If I was to marry though I'd hope it to be someone I love." She seemed as if she had a specific person in mind.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I say leading her onto the balcony. She seemed hesitant but finally gave in.
"There's this servant at my house hold. I've loved him for a while. I found out he was moving to your country to be a servant in your castle so I agreed to come to this ball in hopes of seeing him." she said looking down embarrassed.
"That's so romantic!" She looked up shocked, "I mean, my true love probably doesn't even remember my existence, but you? You're chasing it, making sure to never let it go. It's so sweet." She smiled.
"Yeah, if only I could stay here with him. I don't even know where he is yet." She said sadly.
"Wait, I have an idea!" I exclaim, truly excited.
"W-what?" She said, once again taken aback by my outburst.
"I don't want to get married, you don't want to get married. You have someone at this castle you love, and I just want to escape having trick someone into believing I love them. It's perfect!" A spark of recognition came into her eyes.
"I think I see where you going with this!"
"Let's get married!" We both exclaimed and then laughed.
"Then it's a done deal?"
"Yes!" She said shaking my hand. I escort her to where Cross was holding a conversation with Neah.
"Hello Allen, what's got you so chipper?" My read headed uncle asked.
"I've found my bride." He almost spit out his wine.
"Really? Already?" I nodded. "So I don't have to force you against your will to marry someone?" I shook my head, smiling. A grin spread across his face as well as he eyed Neah.
"Perfect."
One Year Later
"Congratulations Allen on your marriage!" Goz said to me, tears in his eyes.
"Thank you, Goz." I say patting his shoulder, "I'll miss you old friend." I say as he carries his bags out the door finally able to pay off his debts to Cross enough to go back home to his family. I may have helped a little bit with that when I found out.
"Allen!" I heard Lenalee's voice. I turned around and hugged her as she caught up with me.
"Hello Lenalee, how'd it feel to get married?" she giggled.
"Not quite like I expected, after all it was a fake one." She whispered.
"Ah! But don't let that get out!" Lenalee and I giggled.
"Thankyou for using the wrong stamp! I'm surprised no one noticed." We walked down the hallway to her quarters.
"It's no problem. No one should notice for a very long time." I say winking. "So, should I send Lavi to your room later to help you personalize it a bit more?" I asked with a smirk.
"Yes please!" She smiled before walking in.
I'm so glad that worked.
Kanda's POV
17 years old
"Did you hear? The prince has chosen a bride! They are to be married next Spring! I stabbed my fork into my meal again grumbling.
"Yes! I'm so glad our beloved prince has found love! I hear she's quite the looker as well! The Order's eldest princess." The said laughing. I turned around and yelled at them
"Don't you have anything better to talk about?" The jumped at my outburst. Turning red I got up, left some money on the table and left.
"Well it looks like I'm not the only one unhappy about this." I heard an annoyingly chipper voice come from behind me. I looked to see a red headed teenager, probably my age.
"Che. Who cares about their stupid marriage?" I do. I care a lot. Moyashi is mine. After I found out he was still alive and well I realized I wanted nothing more than to be with him. Even though this was forbidden it's all I wanted.
"I do! That's my woman he's marrying!"
"Yeah, and that's my best friend and the person I love most SHE'S marrying. Join the club." The ginger seemed taken aback. I realized I just revealed my biggest secret to a complete stranger. Ma what is up with me today? This engagement has got me all out of wack.
"Wow, so you're in love with the prince? Wasn't expecting that!" He said whistling.
"Shut up! Stupid Usagi!" I said before letting out a few curse words in my native language.
"Hey! My names Lavi! But 'bunny' is awfully cute. I'm sorry to inform you I do not swing that way!" He giggled as I pulled Mugen out on him, he barely dodged it. "What if I didn't have good reflexes? You would've killed me silly!" He said pushing my sword down. I growl and turn around wishing I had at least nicked him. "So what's your name?" I didn't answer and just kept walking. "Well I guess I could play a guessing game then. You're Japanese so is it... NARUTO UZAMAKI? (Yes I realize this isn't out yet xD Just a joke)?"
"No."
"Tskune?"
"No."
"Mori?"
"No."
"Oh, I know how about Ichigo?"
"No." This continued on for about ten minutes before I abruptly cut him off.
"Kanda Yuu, now will you shut the hell up?" He stopped and then tested the name on on his tongue.
"Okay, Yuu-chan! Where you heading?" I turned around again angry.
"Don't! Call me that." I say baring my teeth. He held up his hands defensively.
"Whatever you say Yuu-chan." I just sighed angrily and continued towards the knight training program. "I'm off to the castle, do you have a message you'd like me to pass along? The servant vine is quite awesome. It could get to him in no time! That or I will get assigned as one of the royals servants and can deliver it personally."
I whipped around, "Really?" I said with a bit too much excitement. I re-contained myself, "What's the catch?"
"No catch, just helping a buddy out."
I eyed him carefully. "Fine." I took out a piece of paper and wrote six words on it then handed it to him. "Don't read it, and don't let anyone else read it. If it doesn't make it to him I'll chop off your head." He swallowed before nodding.
"See ya Yuu-chan!" He waved!
"Don't call me that!" I yell as we head off our separate ways.
