Chapter 15: Purpose!
Author's note: I apologize for the waits between chapters (One chapter a month) and I promise that I will make them more frequently. Thanks for the patience!
Recommended song to listen to while reading: Dimentio's Theme.
"Well?" Luigi asked.
"You see, you're known as the Man in Green." Dimentio began. "You are the key to the Light and Dark Prognosticus; as you found out before. With that kind of importance, both sides would do anything to keep you alive."
"You're still not telling me why you're fixated on my body." Luigi said. "If you needed a new body, you could've taken Mr. L's easily."
"Be quiet and listen!" Dimentio said angrily. "Your dark half may have a body I could use, but his fate is different than yours."
"Then what's his fate?" Luigi asked.
"His fateā¦" Dimentio began. "I suppose you could say his fate is to live out the rest of your life for you."
Dimentio extended his arm towards Luigi. "Take me in, Man in Green. Grant me the power to destroy this universe."
'His mind is corrupted.' Luigi thought. 'If I take him, my body will go on a rampage. How am I going to get out this? How long am I going to last?'
Time passed quickly and it had quickly become a year since Dimentio had invaded Luigi's mind. Daisy had given up hope on Luigi ever waking up and returned to Sarasaland. Though, she told Merlon to notify her if Luigi woke up.
"You know, I've been thinking." Luigi began. "Where exactly are we?"
Dimentio didn't respond.
"Dimentio?" Luigi called out.
Dimentio put his head down.
Luigi let out a surprised gasp. 'Is he letting up? Will I finally get to see everyone again?!'
"Man in Green." Dimentio said. "It appears you have completed your final trial. Ahaha, my curtains are finally closing. Before I fade, may I tell you the story of my past?"
"You know, you could have told me before." Luigi pointed out.
"Ahaha, I suppose it slipped my mind." Dimentio said. "You know what they say, you're life flashes before your eyes."
Dimentio cleared his throat. "I have lived for a very long time. I've lived through the Pixl Prejudice and I've met with many of the ancestors you've heard of before."
"The Pixl Prejudice?" Luigi asked with great curiosity.
"Ah, such a wondrous tale that is." Dimentio said. "Though, I'll tell you that some other time."
"Some other time?" Luigi asked. "But you're going to fade from existence!"
"Hmhm." Dimentio giggled. "Fear not, you'll see the whole thing once I fade. Farewell, Man in Green."
Dimentio's body began to fade to nothing soon after finishing his sentence.
