AN: Been a while hasn't it? Haha, sorry about that. I've finished writing the entire story out and now all that's left to do is type it out. Expect the rest to arrive soon!

Chapter 18: Many, many years ago.

"Caught another one!" A man shouted, raising a cage that contained a pixl.

"Is…Is that Thoreau?" Luigi asked.

"Correct." Dimentio said. "This was a time when pixls were seen as objects that felt no pain, had no soul. They're still seen that way by some in the present day. It's disgusting."

"Can't say I don't agree with you." Luigi said.

"Nicely done." Another man said, examining Thoreau. "That makes six, and it's only been three months! Pretty soon, we'll have them all."

"They're talking about the pixls?" Luigi asked.

Dimentio nodded. "They're sold to the Queen for a high price."

"Yikes." Luigi said. "But why are they sought after by the Queen?"

"She believed that the pixls will one day lead to the destruction of all living things. I suppose she was right about that." Dimentio giggled.

Luigi's sudden realization made him shocked, but he kept his cool. For all he knew, his mind could still be in the very battle that separated him from everyone. "Are you saying you're a pixl?"

"Luigi, Luigi." Dimentio said in a condescending tone. "Think about it all. I'm able to go back in time, go to the present, and what's stopping me from going to the future?"

"So why didn't you just go back in time and make yourself win?" Luigi asked.

"Why, this very reason. I'm always in this state; I can't do anything about the past or future. All I can do is act in the present time." Dimentio said.

"Wait, so by that logic, you can't do anything in the present either, but you can…so wouldn't that-"

"Oh for the love of…It's time travel; it's going to be a confusing subject for those who don't experience it. Just accept the explanation!"

"O-okay." Luigi said. "Um, why so agitated?"

"Because every time I start a conversation about time travel from my favorite TV shows, everyone just debates on time travel and how nothing makes sense!" Dimentio stated.

Luigi didn't respond.

"Sorry, just had a nasty flashback." Dimentio said.

"More nasty than trying to get me killed around 7 times? The last one lasting who knows how long?" Luigi asked.

"Can we get back on track? Seriously, it feels like we've been on time travel for this entire trip." Dimentio said.

"Hey, you're the one who started this whole conversation about time travel." Luigi said.

"That's because I was getting to a point!" Dimentio stated. "I was a time based pixl!"

"Wait…was?" Luigi asked.

"I was one originally." He responded. "You see, I am the combination of all the pixls in existence."

"How many pixls are there in total?" Luigi asked, shortly pausing.

"Just the ones you've travelled with on your adventure and more." Dimentio explained. "But I won't bore you with the long details."

"What?! How is that boring?! You just said you're a combination of all the pixls!" Luigi shouted.

"I'll just give you the short version. You're what the pixls fear and also worship. You're the key to the prognosticuses. You survived against a duel of minds with thirteen combined pixls and won." Dimentio said.

"What are you getting at?" Luigi asked.

"People don't care about you!" Dimentio yelled out. "Not personally, anyways. They only care about what you're destined for! You ever wonder why you're constantly being protected by everyone? It's because they needed you alive for their own gains."

"That's not true!" Luigi retorted. "I've gone on so many adventures with my brother and even my own adventures! What about that?"

"But you're always looked after by someone." Dimentio said.

"I'm not some puppet to fate!" Luigi shouted.

"Or maybe you are." Dimentio responded. "You always turn out all right in the end. The trials are a prime example."

Luigi's eyes widened. "You mean the trials were really just a test of fate?"

"Well, more or less." Dimentio said with a laugh. "Honestly, I just did them for fun, but they further my point. Now, we're going to become one, once and for all!"

"B-but I thought you said you were just a fragment and that I would be free if I won all the trials!" Luigi yelled out.

There was a short pause.

"I lied." Dimentio let out. "Honestly, you should have seen that coming."

There was another short pause and the two just stared at each other.

Suddenly, Luigi began to run away from Dimentio but multiple Dimentio clones surrounded him in a circle.

"The Dark One, the Chaos Heart, and The Man in Green shall join together to bring destruction to all worlds. So says the Dark Prognosticus." Dimentio said.

Luigi was held in place by one of the clones and the real Dimentio had placed his hand on Luigi's head. There was a spark of lightning and Luigi had woken up inside Flipside Inn.

Luigi giggled, "I've done it," and got out of bed.

The Inn Keeper entered the Inn.

"Oh, good morning, sir." She said. "You're ready to get going, hm?"

"Uh, yes." He said. "Have a good night."

"Night?" The keeper asked. "It's day-."

Luigi snapped his fingers and zapped the Inn Keeper with purple energy.

"No, it's night time for you." Luigi said. "And it's going to be night time for everyone else in this universe very soon."
