Chapter 7
I'm extremely nervous right now. It had been about two days since the guys decided that I would live with them and I have been too scared to leave this house because of Chad. Today is the day that we're actually going there to tell him off and get the rest of my stuff. I know I have nothing to worry about with the guys being by my side, but it's still kind of nerve racking.
"Logan, you're shaking," James observed.
"Sorry," I said, taking a bite of my cereal. "I'm just nervous."
"The only thing you have to be nervous about is one or all of us going to jail," Kendall said. "Because if he dares put his hands on you in front of any of us…"
I laughed a little, smiling at them.
"What?" James asked, noticing my expression.
"It's amazing," I shook my head.
"What is?" Carlos walked in from his run.
"You guys met me like a week ago and you're already treating me like family," I explained.
"We're loyal guys," Kendall shrugged.
"Besides, you just…fit into our circle," Carlos said. "You're one of our own, and we protect each other."
I smiled fondly at that. We finished breakfast, and then the three turned to me.
"You ready?" Carlos asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be," I stood up.
Together, the four of us walked out of the front door and got into Kendall's car. It was like we were on a mission, and it was even more seemingly so because they all literally rearranged their days for this. I would laugh if this wasn't so serious and the butterflies in my stomach weren't eating me alive.
"Maybe you should drive Loges since you know the way," Kendall looked at me.
"I guess," I shrugged.
So, after we had gotten out and switched, I drove us over to me and Chad's house. I made sure that the trip took as long as possible because I really didn't want to face him. The more I thought about it though, the sadder it seemed because I'm a pretty strong person, but this one guy has so much influence on how I act and it's not right. It was even more confirmation that this was the right thing to do…if only that confidence would latch on.
I like who I am when I'm with the Carlos, Kendall, and James because that's the real Logan. I laugh and I'm not shy, I can defend myself and I love being around other people. That's the original Logan that I've been with them and before Chad came into my life, and I want to continue to be that person, so I have to alleviate the problem, which happens to be Chad.
That was the thought process I had as I pulled into the driveway, then it all flushed away and I got scared again. Don't worry, I'll remember it once this is all over. We got out of the car, and I led the way to the front door.
When I got there, I just stood there. Kendall took the initiative and knocked on the door. It was only a few seconds before the door swung open and Chad was there, looking at the four of us confused, but he stared right into my eyes with an obvious fake smile to me.
"Hey Loges," he talked as if I was the only one there. "Coming home?"
"Not exactly bud," Kendall pushed him to the side, walking in with Carlos and James.
He gave them a look and I saw a flash of anger, but in a few seconds he fixed his expression to that regular old fake smiling happy couple crap. I was the last to walk in and Chad closed the door.
We all stood in the middle of the living room in a circle, Chad looking confused.
"What's this about?" Chad asked eventually.
"Where's your room Logan?" James asked.
I pointed down the hallway and James followed it, followed by Kendall and Carlos. I felt uncomfortable, but I knew one of them was spying on us while the others got my stuff.
"This isn't working out," I spoke softly.
"What?" Chad asked.
"This isn't working out," I repeated louder.
"What do you mean?" Chad looked a bit hurt.
I didn't care.
"I'm leaving you," I found the courage to speak. "I'm tired of living here with you because you treat me like shit and that's not what being a couple is about, so I'm going to live with them."
"No you aren't," Chad said.
"Stop trying to control me!" I snapped. "I've given up so much for you and you don't even have the decency to treat me with respect! I dropped out of school for you when I was almost done, I listen to everything you say and you repay me with abuse and I'm sick of it, so I'm leaving!"
"Logan, you aren't going to do this," Chad gave me a look.
"Try and stop me," my voice got dangerously low.
I started walking to the back, but Chad grabbed my arm, pulling me back and smashing his lips into mine. I pulled away, pushing him back, and he moved to retaliate.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Carlos voice came from the hallway.
I knew one of them had to have been listening. Chad raised an eyebrow.
"This doesn't concern you," Chad looked at him.
"Well, I always protect my friends, and I'm not going to let him get hurt because of you," Carlos spoke calmly.
Chad looked at Carlos and then me.
"Is he why you're leaving me?" Chad asked.
"I told you why," I said. "I'd listen to him though."
I shrugged and walked off. I went into the back with Carlos and the four of us got all of my stuff, when we had gotten everything, Chad held the door open for us to leave. Kendall and James stood on the porch, and as I passed Chad, he stopped me.
"Can I have a goodbye hug?" his eyes were pleading.
I looked at him, giving him a small smile. Then I got angry, and before I realized it my fist had connected with his cheek.
"Fuck you," I said, matter-of-factly.
Chad looked immediately infuriated, but Kendall cut in.
"Hit him, I dare you," Kendall said.
Chad looked like he wanted to do something, but he knew that he couldn't. We had already won at this point.
"Your hair looks nice, Logan," was all he said.
"Thank you," James smiled.
With a smirk on my face, we got into the car with my stuff and drove back home.
"Wow Logan, I was impressed with you in there," James smiled.
"It was all of my anger bottled up and with you guys to back me up, I just let it all out," I shrugged.
"Well, I'm proud of you," Carlos smiled.
"Thank you guys for helping me, I really don't know what I would do without you guys," I said.
"Don't mention it," Kendall said. "This is a chance to start over…now, you ready to start training at your new job?"
