Another one that was completely rewritten. ^^" The original was in the form of a speech, which was interesting, but I had reasons for scrapping it.
P.S. This is going to have minor spoilers for Dressrosa. Or major. Depending on how you look at it. Tread carefully in this one.
"Straw Hat? Dressrosa? What's going on?" the young Marine captain asked. Akainu's frown deepened, and he repressed the low growl that was building in his throat.
The soldier's superior, a Vice-Admiral, sweated nervously. "I have received reports Straw Hat is fighting in the Corrida Colosseum under the guise of an old man named 'Luke'."
Akainu bit his tongue. If he said anything, he'd probably torch his desk again.
"The evidence seems to be mixed, though!" the Vice-Admiral amended quickly. "For all we know it isn't Straw Hat fighting for the Mera Mera no Mi."
Akainu opened his mouth, finally allowing himself to speak.
"So Straw Hat is alive?" It had come out more furious than he had intended. "If the evidence is there, if there is the smallest probability it is Straw Hat, it likely is. Did you not just say that the Colosseum is fighting over the Mera Mera no Mi?!" He slammed a fist on his desk.
"You fool!" the Fleet Admiral snapped. "Send men back to the Colosseum or so help me."
"Er," the Marine captain added cautiously, "Soldiers aren't allowed in."
"What?" Akainu growled.
"We can't go into the Colosseum!" the captain squeaked.
"Why can't we?" Akainu asked, scowling. "We have reason to believe a nuisance of a criminal and a scourge upon the face of humanity is in there, we should have every right to exterminate it."
"Um, that's exactly why we aren't allowed in," the Vice Admiral added. Akainu rubbed his temples, but it didn't seem to calm him down.
So he flipped his desk. It usually helped.
Today, it didn't.
P.P.S. I know I left an apostrophe out of the chapter title. Sometimes correct grammar must be sacrificed for song lyrics. (It hurts.)
