When shift was over Nick found Sara in the locker room getting ready to leave. She and Catherine had done all they could, the lab was backed up. Nick walked up to Sara.
"Hey, what about grabbing some breakfast?" Nick wanted to spend some time with Sara alone.
Sara turned to face Nick and smiled, she was tired but wanted to spend some time with Nick. "Okay."
"You want to go to the diner? Or would you like to go somewhere else?" Nick asked wanting to give Sara a choice.
"How about you come over for breakfast again?" Sara didn't want to be around a whole lot of people she wanted some alone time with Nick.
"You cooked for me yesterday, Sara." Nick didn't want to put her to any unnecessary work.
"Nick, it's okay, I use to cook at a bed and breakfast, I think I can handle cooking for the two of us." Sara told Nick knowing that he didn't want to put her to any extra work. She knew that was what he was thinking.
Just then Warrick came in and asked them, "We haven't got to talk all shift, want to join me for breakfast at the diner just the three of us and talk?"
"Just you, Warrick?" Sara asked as she considered something.
"Yes, everyone else has already left, Grissom had an appointment with the sheriff, Lindsey had a doctor's appointment so Catherine left to take her and Greg left without saying anything, Sidle I think you broke his heart, he was sad. So how about it? Breakfast at the diner?" Warrick explained
"How about you come over to my apartment instead? I am cooking Nick breakfast and would love to have you. We can talk privately that way."
"I don't want to intrude and Sara since when can you cook?" a baffled Warrick asked.
"Believe me Warrick, she can cook." Nick told his best guy friend. A man he thought of like a brother.
"I grew up at a bed and breakfast, you had to learn to cook at an early age, living there."
"Why haven't you ever told us that before?" A confused Warrick asked, Sara had never talked about her life before she moved to Vegas.
"I just don't talk about that part of my life very often. So do you want to come to breakfast?"
"I'd love to. I can't wait to see you cooking." Warrick commented.
"Oh you are in for a treat, Warrick, my man." Nick told his friend.
"Follow us over, you know the way." Sara said. The three of them had hung out watching movies at her place before. Warrick, Nick and Sara gathered their things and headed out to their vehicles to drive over to Sara's apartment.
When they got to Sara's apartment the three friends got out of their vehicles and went inside after Sara unlocked the door. She headed to the kitchen after she put her things down on the table by the door. "Is Bacon, Eggs, Hash browns and toast okay with you guys?" Sara asked from the kitchen.
"Oh yeah, but why do you have bacon, Sara?" Everyone knew Sara was a vegetarian.
"It's for Nick." Sara replied.
Warrick and Nick walked into the front room and sat down on the couch. "She keeps meat in the house for you, Nick? She must really care about you."
"Yes she keeps meat in the house for me. I really care about her. We stocked up her fridge and mine yesterday."
"What kind of food?" Nick was a big meat eater, being from Texas he loved a good steak and his friend knew this and with Sara being a vegetarian well he wondered what was now in Nick's fridge.
"Some vegetables and stuff like that. Sara needed to have stuff she can eat when we are at my place just like I have some stuff here." Nick didn't know what the big deal was.
"Is food the only thing at each other's houses?" He wondered how serious this was.
"No. We have clothes and bathroom essential at each other's houses too. This is serious Warrick, I want to be with Sara. I don't want anyone else." Nick explained to his best friend.
"Ever?" He hadn't realized how serious this was to Nick.
"Ever. We are serious, we care about one another, she's one of my best friends do you really think I would take a chance with that if I wasn't serious?"
A shocked Warrick asked looking around making sure they were alone. "You love her, don't you?"
"Yes, I do but she doesn't know that and for now she doesn't need to. She has opened up her life to me, I won't hurt her or anything. I want to just be with her. She wants to be with me to."
"How serious have you guys gotten?" Warrick wanted to make sure that Nick wasn't taking advantage of Sara.
"We haven't made love yet if that is what you mean. She has a key to my house and I have a key to her apartment though. We are together, Warrick and unless Sara changes her mind about me than there will always be an us." Nick laid out his heart and let his friend know he was serious that he was not using Sara.
Just then Sara called them to the kitchen to load up on food and they took it into the living room and sat down with Nick sitting by Sara and they turned on the television and watched "The New Detectives". Warrick was surprised at how good a cook Sara really was and told her so. She just smirked at him. After they ate Warrick said his goodbyes leaving Nick and Sara to spend some time alone.
They sat there talking about the cases that they had that night and the threat that Grissom made and other stuff, after about an hour Sara began to yawn and asked Nick if he would mind staying again. He said he would love to and the two of them retired to her bedroom and got ready for bed and went to sleep with Nick's arms around Sara which kept the nightmares at bay.
