LOUIS POV
"So what are we going to say to them without Miss Psychopath?" I glared at Lestat's joke. "You have no sense of humor."
"Not when it's towards my sick daughter, no."
Lestat shrugged as I looked out the window. The sun was going down and Bella was not waking up and I did not want to wake her up when there was a chance that she was not better. "So what are you going to say?"
"I don't know Lestat." I growled. "Bella will not want to tell them the whole truth but if we do not give them something then they will keep pursuing us and may get in the way of our plans."
Lestat smirked. "It won't be long though."
I looked back, confused. "What do you mean?"
He jumped up from his position on the couch. "You don't know?" He gave me a smug look. "Bella's power of mind erase is gone. Meaning that the block on every single person's mind that she has erased is now broken. Now, reviving memories is as simple as erasing. All they need is powerful memento to trigger that part and completely…"
"What does that all mean Louis?" He can be so frustrating sometimes.
"It means Louie that if the Cullens get something of Bella's that is strongly attached to her and them, they will remember everything."
I gasped. "Bella's picture."
He shook his head. "No, it's not that precious to Bella as it is to that Edward boy. Maybe something Bella kept with her for the three years?"
There was nothing I could figure out. All she kept was that one picture in her coffin. "There's nothing."
"Then it has to be something she left with him. Come on think Louie. What was going on in her life right before you got there?"
"Why are you asking? Do you really want to make them remember?"
"Yes and I know you do too. Face it Louie, that vampire is the only one who can bring Bella back to who she was before all this."
Bella would hate us, but, I want the old Bella back. The one who held such love and curiosity in her eyes. The selfless one who would do anything for the people she cared about. The one Claudia took in as a little girl and raised her to be her best. Lestat is right; Edward can most certainly change Bella back to her original self. Maybe, letting them back into her life will save her.
Looking back at Lestat I sighed. "She was still in school; her graduation was in a few weeks. There was a problem with some murders in Seattle, newborn vampires, and they were trying to figure things out. Also she was friends with some werewolves and that was causing an issue between her and Edward. After she erased everyone's memory and we fled I later discovered that since she left the newborn vampire was put down by the Volturi and their leader was destroyed. Turns out they were after Bella because the Cullens killed the leader's mate.
She also told me that Edward was trying to get her to marry him but she kept having doubts." I chuckled. "It's funny. She kept refusing because it was not something they did today but now that she thinks about it she would have said yes in a heartbeat, saying he courted her long enough." That was in the beginning; when Bella would talk about them all day just to soothe herself. All the stories of them. She really loved them. "But she never spoke of having something special from them that she had to keep behind."
"What about this?" Lestat held up a CD.
"Where did you get that?"
"While Bella was having her tantrum earlier this flew off her coffin door. Must be pretty important. Let' s play it." He jogged to the stereo.
I walked over. "That is Bella's. I'm sure she would not want you messing with her stuff, especially when you are number two on her kill list."
He rolled his eyes and shrugged, putting the disk in anyone and turned it on. As we listened my eyes went wide. " What..is...This?"
Lestat smirked. "I think we found what we need."
EDWARD'S POV
I watched the sun disappear from the sky as my family and I waited in Green Park. Today we would get answers. I needed answers.
"What if she doesn't show?" Alice wondered out loud.
Rosalie scoffed. "She better show up. I got some things to say to her. Mess with my mind."
"I wonder if she can give them back." Esme said.
"Let's hope so. I would like to know all that I am missing." Carlisle chuckled.
"I know. What if something awesome happened and I don't remember." Emmett shouted, jumping up and down before freezing when he saw Rosalie glaring at him.
"Still, it'll be good for you to get some answers." Esme said, patting my back gently. I gave her a small smile and nodded.
Jasper then turned his head. "Someone's coming."
We turned as two figures came out from the woods. Carlisle gasped. "Louis?"
The man with the long, brown hair in a ponytail cussed as the blonde one looked between us with amusement. "My Louie and to think she would erase that too."
"Shut it Lestat." Louis said before turning back to us. Carlisle approached him and shook his hand. "Hello Carlisle."
"Hello to you too. Esme, remember that vampire I met before, the one not like us."
Esme smiled with recognition. "Yes, pleasure to meet you."
"You too ma'am."
"I assume you have something to do with the events that deal with Claudia?"
Louis smile was sad. "I'm afraid so."
"Where is she?"
"I'm afraid she is not feeling well and could not join us."
"Still hurt from her attempt to erase my mind?" Louis gasped.
Lestat was still amused. "So I guess it was you who sucked the energy out of her."
Rosalie mimicked him, crossing her arms. "I guess so. And now we know that she is the reason that we can't forget her and that she and Edward had a thing."
Lestat began laughing while Louis glared at him. "Now is not the time to look at this as a joke Lestat."
"Who are you guys?" Emmett chimed in, looking confused.
"My name is Louis de Pointe du Lac and this is my creator Lestat de Lioncourt. I am...Claudia's adoptive father."
"Does that make me her grandfather than?" Lestat joked.
"Wait Louis, I thought Claudia was a younger girl? Didn't you say Claudia was about five or six when she changed? And it was by Lestat who changed her as well." Now that got my attention."And wasn't she killed?"
Louis looked stumped. "Well..you see.." Lestat was chuckling. "You are not helping."
"And here I thought we were going to tell them the truth to save your daughter. Are you going to back out? If you are, then let's be on our way now." The truth? What was going on?
Louis sighed and turned away when Lestat grabbed his shoulder. "You are not backing out of this. If you care for her you will do this."
"What are you two talking about?" I asked, stepping forward.
Louis sighed and turned to Carlisle. "That is true Carlisle. Claudia was five years old when Lestat here turned her. And yes, she did die."
"So who is this?" Angry, I took out my picture and put it in his face all in a second. "I'm through with these secrets. I want answers. Claudia, or whoever this is, owes me an explanation. Please."
Louis looked at me, looking at the picture, before smiling softly. "My coming back was a mistake." What that mean? "I can't explain everything, but I think this can help you." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a CD in a case. "This should explain everything." Still looking at him, I took it.
"What is on it?" I heard Esme ask as I put the picture away and was now staring at the CD.
"Something that was, and hopefully still is, something that you and she cherished." Cherished? What could it be?
Ring. Ring. We all looked around before Lestat pulled out a phone. "Now?"
"It could be important. Now if you'll excuse me." He walked a few feet away and began speaking in hush tones.
"There's another thing. The girl in the picture is not Claudia."
"Kinda figured that out." Emmett mumbled when Rosalie slapped him in the head.
I knew there was something wrong. She did not look like a Claudia. "Her real name is…"
"Louie, we have a problem." Lestat interrupted.
"What is it?"
"Seems like we are behind schedule. Armand is in London." Louis's eyes went wide with fear. "She's not safe on her own."
"Armand?"
"I'm sorry but we have to go now. If you want answers then that CD is the key. I'm terribly sorry Carlisle but we must depart." And just as fast as they came they left.
There was a moment of silence before any of us could say anything. "That was…interesting." Jasper finally spoke up.
"It was stupid. We got no answers other than her name is not Claudia." Rosalie sighed in frustration. "This whole thing is stupid."
I felt Alice next to me. "What do you think is on that CD?"
"You're the psychic."
She chuckled. "But I'm not seeing it right now. But I feel it is something big."
"Well let's get home and finally figure out this mystery." Carlisle spoke. We all agreed and raced back home.
