We ran as fast as we could. Well I did, my family tried to keep up but really couldn't. We returned to the park and began sniffing as Alice tried to see into the future, looking for times we would disappear.
"Anything Alice?" I asked.
I saw her mind flicker, thinking of many decisions on what we would do, until her mind went blank. "Down an alley about 15 miles from here." We ran there.
When we got there I could smell her scent but also another's and blood. "Someone was here with her."
Two fresh scents filled the air and we turned as the two came down. They looked at us like deer in headlights. "What are you guys doing out here?" Louis asked. Lestat looked just as surprised but there seemed to be a hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Where's Bella?" I demanded.
Louis's eyes widen, if that was possible, as Lestat cracked a smile. "So it did work? That little lullaby was able to get you to remember everything?" I really don't like him.
I ignored him. "Where's Bella?"
Louis sighed. "We don't know. We got in a fight aand she stormed out. That was about two hours ago." I growled. Carlisle had to put a hand on my shoulder to try and calm me down. Not that it helped. Three years of pent up hurt and rage was spilling out.
"What did you fight about?" Esme asked, trying to get some information for my sake.
Louis face went grim as Lestat just chuckled. It was then I could smell dried blood on him. "Let's say our dear Bella has her own agenda that seems to end with her death." What?
"Lestat, it will not get that way." Louis glared at him.
"She's planning to kill herself?" I whispered.
"It's been something she has wanted to do for a long time now." Lestat continued despite Louis's protest. "What is there to live for anymore? She's nothing but a killer."
"Don't say that" I growled, about to jump at him if Emmett hadn't held me back. "She's not a killer."
"And you've only known the human version of her. Trust me boy, the Bella now is different from the girl you fell in love with."
"No she's not." I replied in a sure voice. Everythin we had was real even if it was all an act. She would always be my Bella, vampire or not. And a killer? I had no right to judge her of that. My past isn't squeaky clean either.
"Look we can fight later," Alice chimed in. "Right now Bella is missing and we need to find her."
"She couldn't have gone far." Louis began thinking.
"Louie." Lestat started but Louis seemed to have blocked him out.
"And she would stay in this area."
"Louie."
"So maybe we can start at her job."
"LOUIE."
"WHAT LESTAT?" Lestat didn't flinch but looked around. "Smell the air."
Louis did that and he froze up. "No." he breathed. The two sniffed again and Louis began to panic. I sniffed and did not know the other scent, only it was one of their kind. "It's him Louie."
"Who?" I asked, wanting to be on page.
Louis didn't look at me. "Armand."
BELLA'S POV
I wanted to move. I tried. But everytime I did the blades in my legs would dig deeper and I did not want to lose a leg now. I couldn't pull them out because there were two blades in my arms, holding me to the table. The chair was getting uncomfortable and I was getting dizzy from the blood loss.
Everything was dark. I could feel the heat coming from the lamp but over my eyes was a black blindfold. I heard nothing, not even my own breathing, but I could sense him in the room. He hasn't said a word since I gained consciousness. That seemed like hours ago.
"You're still as pretty as I remember." He finally spoke. His voice just exactly as I remembered.
"Finally decided to say something?" I snapped. "Took you long enough."
"Gain a new temper I see." Armand chuckled.
"Get this stupid blindfold off me." I could hear him coming closer and I felt a shiver in my spine. No, you can't be afraid, you can't be afraid. "Even after so many years, your instincts know exactly how to act Isabella." I flinched as his hand touched the side of my head and pulled the blindfold down. I came face to face with his black eyes that were filled with glee. "You should always be afraid with me."
I felt my body tremble with fear even as I kept the determination on my face. I wanted to tell him off but my mouth would not open. My mind was blanking out. He turned his head, his long, black hair swishing to the side, and he walked to a wall. There he seemed to grab something and brought it back. When he placed it on the table I saw it was a small cartoon of blood. I reached out for it out on instinct but hissed when the blades cut even more into me. "Careful, we wouldn't want you to take a hand off." He chuckled.
"You bastard."
He held out his hand as if to silence me. "You mustn't use too much energy Isabella; you've lost a lot of blood." I wonder why? "I will take these off of you but before I can I have to know I can trust you." His hand gently brushed through my hair. In his eyes I saw a sickening admiration and love that I hated to see. It reminded me of the only person who I want to look at me like that. "I must go but when I come back if you are good I'll take these off and allow you to feed. Until then, think of this as punishment for nearly destroying our relationship. We have much to discuss." With that he walked out.
I wanted to scream but it would do no good. The blood in front of me was tempting but every try I could think of to get it would make the blades move and he was right, I didn't want to lose a hand just yet.
Now what?
