Naruto X
AN: So yeah. I was finally working on Coping with Reality and I wrote myself into a wall somehow. While trying to figure out a way around that wall (or giving up and going THROUGH said wall) I got a review asking me to update this. So I figured why not. Maybe it'll help me figure something out for my other story (and the two surprise fics I'm working on)
At first I had this chapter written but honestly I hated how it panned out and felt. The tone felt a bit too ridiculous and so I decided to rewrite it from the ground up in an entirely different manner. So in this chapter on up, I'm going to take focus off of X and company and focus more on Naruto.
PAGE BREAK
Naruto fired a charged shot and with a loud sound similar to that of glasses clanging, the attack was harmlessly dispersed. Vile flew forward in his combat rider and smashed a fist down. Naruto barely backed up in time and fired several small shots which all bounced off of the combat walker. Vile shot an energy blast out of his shoulder cannon which hit Naruto and knocked him onto his back.
Vile wasted no time and grabbed Naruto, who was groaning in pain from being squeezed. Suddenly X's voice rang out from what sounded like an intercom. "Stop the sequence." And everything suddenly pixilated and vanished, leaving Naruto alone in a green and black room, breathing hard.
"The simulation room can be dangerous as you just witnessed. Knowing this, you still need to complete this course before your test tomorrow." X stated as Naruto stood up and frowned. "How do you expect me to fight him? My attacks did nothing to his armor!" Naruto shouted, which caused X to "Hm."
"Well that's simple. Find a weakness and exploit it. Just because you can't hurt him from the front doesn't mean he's unbeatable. Now let's run it again." X said before the room began to shift and change into Central Highway. Naruto let out a groan. "Not this place again?!" He cried, which got an amused chuckle from X. "If you can't handle this, then your teacher is going to wipe the floor with you. Never mind any enemies you encounter if he actually makes you a ninja. Take the combat experience you are learning here and apply it to your ninja career. Now, initiate combat sequence." And the stage which was at first devoid of anything except the road suddenly came to life as various vehicles, robots and pedestrians appeared. Naruto let out a sigh and started moving.
-Two hours later-
"GAH!" Naruto cried out as he was hit with a blast of ice and exploded into energy. The room shifted around before changing back to the hallway before the boss room and Naruto reappeared in a flash. "I thought we were making progress but it appears I was wrong." X said over the intercom which caused Naruto to groan out. "I was doing fine until he started shooting the wall and making the attack bounce around."
X let out a small chuckle. "That would be shotgun ice, and it's not unavoidable. Take note of its trajectory and dodge accordingly. That aside, you were doing well. Just learn to read attacks and memorize them." He said as the intercom cut off and Naruto went back into the room.
-Four more hours later-
Naruto let out a cry of pain as he was shot with a blast of green energy from the back and burst into energy. The room crackled and went back to its default green and black room. Naruto reappeared in a burst of energy and X sighed. "Naruto, you can't hurt him when he turns invisible." He stated in a calm tone.
Naruto grunted and stood up. "You'd think that shotgun ice would at least hit him or something! I can't see him and my weapons don't seem to do anything to him, not to mention how fast he is." He grumbled before a screen popped up in front of him with 7 faces, an eighth face was a black screen.
"Or maybe you just need more practice or a different skill." X's voice said as he waited for Naruto to choose a target. With a sigh, Naruto chose the next one on the list and was immediately warped into a power plant. From the other side of the monitor, X had a soft smile. He would turn Naruto into a fine hunter, even if it took until they found all the parts for the laser.
-The next day-
Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke were all gathered at the training field their sensei had told them to meet at. It was one hour in and their sensei was late. Sakura was trying to get Sasuke's attention but he wasn't having any of it. Naruto meanwhile was reviewing his information from the training sim and going over the data he had acquired from his classmates when he was scanning all of them.
He never realized that doing a scan on them revealed information, but since he had kept scanning them repeatedly, the scanner had found more and more information each time and was actually getting stronger from the use. He found that on the first scan, it told him the general information on them like name, blood type, the items on their person and the like. As he kept scanning, it was giving more detailed information such as what was inside their sealed scrolls and what kind of ranked jutsu they had and on the final scan, revealed the jutsu in question, how the jutsu worked and performed along with any bloodlines that person may have had.
The information was interesting, but to Naruto it was mostly just nonsense at the moment. After going through all of what he had, he went back to thinking about the simulator. After finding a way to defeat Vile in his combat walker, he went on to explore the targets that had appeared on the screen, X told him he had free reign to go wherever he wanted and Naruto did just that. After many crushing defeats at random robots and falling to his death many a time because he underestimate a jump, he finally made his way to the abandoned missile base and acquired a speed upgrade to his robot system.
After that he managed to make his way to fight an enemy known as Chill Penguin and after a few incidents, managed to take down the maverick. Feeling invincible thanks to having acquired Shotgun Ice, the move that had done him in many a time, Naruto confidently went on to another stage, only to get his rear immediately handed to him.
Confidence gone, he chose another stage, thinking it was a fluke and got destroyed once more. Finally he made his way to a power plant and encountered an enemy known as Spark Mandrill. Naruto was ready for a tough fight because this guy was huge and looked intimidating, but the moment he fired Shotgun Ice, his intimidation turned into shock and then he got cocky. Spark Mandrill was completely frozen solid, and the moment he broke out, he was encased in ice again by Naruto. That fight was way too easy in his opinion and he figured all fights would be this way.
With that in mind, he once again confidently strode his way to an underground mining facility and after some difficulty in making his way to the boss, Armored Armadillo. He fired his newly acquired weapon and smirked as the maverick was electrocuted and his armor all fell off. Expecting the same results, he fired again, only to have the robot get knocked back a bit from the attack before going off on a furious bounce around the room.
While Naruto now knew the weakness of this enemy, he still didn't have the skill to dodge all of the attacks and was beaten. Over and over and over until finally five hours had passed and X called for him to stop. With a sigh, he listened as X told him he would need to learn to read his opponents and avoid taking damage, or get strong enough to not die from all of the attacks he was taking.
Naruto wasn't quite sure what X meant by that but then he remembered he got a speed upgrade from one of the stages where he found a capsule. So in his mind, he was thinking there was another capsule that would give him a shield or something.
With that in mind, he resolved to try and find a way to make himself strong enough to survive the simulations. By the time he came to this conclusion, two hours had passed and Narutos' scanner began to beep and flash that familiar warning symbol before Kakashi suddenly appeared before them in a swirl of leaves.
'Well, that was useful. I didn't know it would work for that.' Naruto thought as he looked up. "YOU'RE LATE!" Sakura yelled, while standing up. Kakashi rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry, I got lost on the road of life." He stated. "LIAR!" Sakura yelled again.
Kakashi then reached into his belt and pulled out two small bells. "Alright, listen up. We're going to start your test now. I want you to get these bells from me. The ones who acquire the bells graduate." He explained. "But wait sensei, there are only two bells." Sakura stated, causing the jounin to nod. "Right, the one who doesn't get a bell will be sent back to the academy." He said, causing all three genin hopefuls eyes to widen in shock.
"You have until noon to get these bells from me." He said as he tied them to his belt. "But sensei, that's only one hour away!" Sakura cried out, causing the man to nod. "Then you'd better hurry. The test starts…NOW!" he said and all three vanished in a flash.
Kakashi was glancing around and taking note that they did a decent job of hiding themselves, but he kept getting this feeling like he was being watched or that something was covering his body. Not seeing anything out of the ordinary and sensing no ill intentions, he was about to take off when suddenly Naruto appeared before him.
"You know, the point is to hide, right?" Kakashi asked. Naruto shook his head and the illusion around his hand dropped as it changed to the buster gun. "If we hide, the mission never gets completed and we run out of time. Now is the time for action." He said, causing the jounin to nod in approval.
"Alright then, come at me with the intent to kill. Otherwise, you won't stand a chance." Kakashi said, causing Naruto to grin. "Trust me sensei, I wouldn't have it any other way." He said before he raised the buster in front of him and fired.
Kakashi looked surprised but moved out of the way of the attack. The shot hit a tree in the background and caused a small explosion that destroyed the tree, sending bits of trunk and splinters everywhere as the top part of the tree fell over and cracked a few branches from neighboring trees as they supported its fall.
Kakashi narrowed his eyes. 'This is the dead last of the academy? His file said nothing about this and there's no way he could have a blood line to use seal less jutsu. I'll have to keep my eyes on him.' Kakashi thought to himself as he kept dodging attack after attack. In as little as ten seconds, Naruto had nearly destroyed all of the entire forest around them. After firing after Kakashi for some time and getting a small chuckle as Sasuke and Sakura kept diving for new hiding spots, he finally moved his aim and fired ahead of Kakashi.
The mans eyes widened as he was hit with the blast and he was sent flying backwards as the front of his vest was completely incinerated and his chest was exposed and burnt before he exploded in a burst of smoke and a log was in his place.
Naruto cursed before quickly moving his way back into cover, much to Kakashis' relief as he watched from a distance. His thoughts were interrupted however when he suddenly turned and stopped a fist from hitting him and he kicked Sasuke away from him.
"I guess you're next." Kakashi stated as Sasuke charged in again. Meanwhile, Naruto was going over the information from that fight. His scanner had revealed that Kakashi had a flare of energy before the attack hit him and it was as if he had turned completely into a shadow. So the scanner could tell when somebody was using the substitution jutsu, but he doubted he had anything that could help him locate the real Kakashi. He briefly wondered if it could tell when someone was using any kind of jutsu before he heard a shriek and immediately took off for it.
Once he arrived at the location, he saw an unconscious Sakura and Sasuke was buried up to his neck in the ground. Naruto blinked before walking over and in an amazing display of strength, pulled Sasuke completely out of the ground. "Okay look. On our own, we have no chance. But if we work together, I'm positive we can beat him." Sasuke grunted at this. "I almost had a bell by myself. Why should I work with you?" he asked, causing the blonde to frown. "Because he's an experienced fighter and was probably holding back. If we are helping each other, then almost getting a bell will be actually getting one. You saw how fast he is and judging by the way I found you, you know how strong he is."
Sakura started to wake up and immediately cried out, "Sasuke! You're not decapitated!" causing him to grumble. "Sakura, we're teaming up with Naruto." causing the girl to immediately calm down. "But Sasuke, sensei is too strong to defeat." She said, making Naruto shake his head. "Sasuke can move the fastest, so here's the plan. I want you to cause a distraction and I'll do what I can from a distance. While he's too busy dodging us, Sasuke will move in and steal the bells."
Sasuke grunted in approval and Sakura just nodded. "Well, it's a plan. I don't know if it's a GOOD plan, but it's a plan." She said. "Now remember, sensei is most likely going to try and rush you with taijutsu, so be prepared if he decides to ignore range and move in." he said, and with a nod, the three genin went back out.
Kakashi was mildly surprised when Naruto reappeared and immediately began to fire at him. As he was about to dodge, he immediately twisted around and dodged a set of shuriken that flew at him from another direction.
He raised his eyebrow as he realized that Sakura was helping him by trying to get a hit in. Slowly and steadily he began to make his way towards Sakura. Once he was within range of her, he made a sprint and attempted to attack her with taijutsu. She quickly reacted by using the substitution jutsu when he swung at her and grabbed Kakashi from the backside. "Now Naruto!" she yelled, and Kakashi was immediately surprised when the yellow shot collided with him, sending him and Sakura flying backwards.
Sakura went rolling and was starting to get up while Kakashi had immediately warped away. Sasuke appeared and was holding the bells in his hand. "Mission accomplished." He said as the three of them cheered. Kakashi meanwhile was using his limited knowledge of medical jutsu to try and heal his chest. Whatever that technique was, it had immediately tore through his armor and clothing. If he hadn't been wearing it, he shuddered to imagine what would have happened to him. After a quick vest change, he walked back out and started clapping slowly. "Congratulations. You three have passed my test. Nobody has ever done it before and you three are the first to figure out that teamwork was the key to passing the test. Team 7 starts doing missions tomorrow." He said and the three genin cheered. Well, two cheered, one grunted in approval with a smirk on his face.
-Back at the command center-
Zero turned off the monitor that was watching Naruto and he smiled. 'Good work kid. Maybe X was right about you after all." He thought before standing up and walking off.
And that concludes this chapter. I hope you enjoy it anonymous reviewer.
