Naruto X

AN: ALL ABOARD THE MUSE TRAIN. But seriously, I'm amused at how fast I'm getting this out now that I've changed things around.

The trip was pretty quiet for the most part as the four ninja and the civilian made their way to the land of waves. As they were walking however, Narutos' scanner immediately picked up two life signatures ahead.

He blinked before doing a scan and noticed a puddle in the road. Data began to flood him as two different ID's popped up. 'Chuunin huh.' He thought as they slowly got closer to the puddle.

Then the rational part of his brain seemed to kick in. 'The weather has been nice lately. There shouldn't be a puddle to begin with.' He thought, silently switching to his buster gun. Honestly he wasn't sure if they were enemies or not, but better safe than sorry he thought.

His paranoia paid off however when a few moments after they had passed the puddle, the two chuunin hiding within burst out, completely wrapped Kakashi in their chains and tore him apart.

Everyone stood in shock for a moment until the two chuunin began to move. Naruto quickly raised his buster gun and fired in reflex. This caught the two off guard and one of the chuunin were directly hit in the head, his body came to a complete halt and his face was melted and caved completely in. Everyone, even Naruto, stared in shock at what just happened, watching as the body stood still for a moment before falling to its knees and then backwards onto its back.

The other chuunin let out an enraged cry, snapped the chain off of his gauntlet and charged directly at Naruto who snapped out of his shock and fired at the guy, hitting him in the shoulder.

He was still yelling and even though his arm was hanging by threads, he was still charging and Naruto began to fire rapidly in a panic, hitting the guy in the chest, stomach, left leg and finally again in the chest, putting a full hole through the guy. He leapt at Naruto and he instinctively put his arms up in front of him expecting an attack, only for the body to collide with him and Naruto to push him off.

He stared down in mild shock at the dead ninja. He had fought robots way stronger than this man, but there was a difference between killing a robot and killing a human. He didn't have the digestive system in his body to get sick and the robot part of his body was pretty much controlling all of his vitals, but he still felt sick about taking a human life.

However his rational thinking began to kick in and stated that if he hadn't done what he did, they would have killed his teammates or the client. Kakashi chose that moment to appear and put a hand on the boys shoulder. "You did good Naruto." He said, only getting a nod from the boy who didn't seem to react to the fact that the jounin was alive.

Sakura was mortified and Sasuke didn't have a reaction, instead he was staring at the bodies and the damage done to them. He'd never seen anything like this before, it was brutal and damned if it didn't look painful. He filed that away for the time being and turned his attention to the blonde. He had reacted so fast and took down two enemy ninja by himself in a matter of seconds. He gave a "Hn." and resolved to have a word with Kakashi and Naruto later.

Tazuna however looked sick to his stomach at the carnage before him. His thoughts were interrupted however when Kakashi tapped him on the shoulder. "Tazuna, I believe you have some explaining to do." He said, causing the civilian to break out into a sweat.

"A-Alright. I'll tell you everything, I swear!" he said. Naruto was too lost in his thoughts to listen to Tazuna, although the conversation was being recorded. He was still in shock over what he had done on pure reflex when suddenly he caught part of the conversation. "If nothing is done, Gato will kill us all!"

Naruto looked up and with his digital eye, he did a scroll back of the conversation and frowned. "We need to continue the mission." Naruto said, causing everyone to look at him.

"It was only chuunin this time Naruto. Next time could be jounin. Are you sure you're willing to take that risk? To risk the life of Tazuna or risk Sakura and Sasuke's lives for the mission?" Kakashi asked to which the blonde answered "If we don't take that risk, Tazuna's life is over anyways. We have to do this or die trying. It's not just a mission, it's not just our job, we are ninja, and this is our life." He said, getting nods from Sasuke and Kakashi.

"I take it you two feel the same way?" Kakashi asked as he turned to look at Sakura and Sasuke. Sasuke nodded immediately and Sakura hesitated a bit before finally nodding, the both of them looking determined.

"Very well, then this mission will continue." Kakashi said and Tazuna almost broke into tears as he thanked them. Suddenly, Naruto turned and fired a shot into the bush which caused an explosion of debris.

Suddenly a white rabbit flew out from the bush and made a dash for somewhere else. "Naruto! Why did you shoot at that rabbit?" Sakura yelled, but Naruto was looking around. "Because when I fired, that wasn't a rabbit." He said, causing everyone to be on edge.

Suddenly Naruto grabbed Sakura and Kakashi grabbed Tazuna and Sasuke before they suddenly hit the dirt as a giant cleaver flew overhead. The sword embedded itself into a tree and a figure landed on top of it. "So, Kakashi the copy ninja, imagine my surprise." A voice rang out as everyone stood back up. "Zabuza, one of the seven swordsmen of the mist, what are you doing here?" Kakashi asked as he pulled out a kunai.

"It's simple. I've been hired by Gato to kill the bridge builder. You can be good little ninja and stay out of my way or get yourselves killed in the process." He taunted as he did some hand signs and the area suddenly began to get filled with a thick mist.

Kakashi pulled up his headband and revealed his sharingan eye which caught Sasuke by surprise. "The sharingan, so soon? I'm honored." Zabuza mocked, Kakashi gave a grunt "It'll be the last thing you ever see." He said, trying to use his eye to track Zabuza through the mist.

Naruto was watching out for anything when he suddenly saw something through the mist and fired at it. A surprised cough was heard before there was the sound of splashing water. Sakura looked over at Naruto, panic evident in her eyes and Naruto narrowed his own. His sight changed and the entire area from his point of view was completely red and clear.

He saw a few copies of Zabuza rush towards him and he simply opened fire. All of them turned into water after being shot and Naruto resumed scanning for his opponent. He caught movement in a bush and fired at it, only for an entirely different target to rush out of the line of fire.

Naruto narrowed his eyes, this was the same target he fired at before that vanished with the rabbit. With that in mind, he did a scan. It took a few seconds but the data came. Haku, male, rank unknown, bloodline was ice control and one handed seals, inventory consisted of senbon and nothing else. He frowned at that, he didn't think a bloodline user would be involved in this battle but that didn't mean anything to him. All he knew was Zabuza had a partner but they weren't getting involved in the fight.

His thoughts were interrupted at Sakura's cry of "Sensei!" and he turned, seeing Kakashi was trapped in a ball of water by Zabuza. "You all need to run away! Get Tazuna as far away from here as possible!" Kakashi yelled out.

Naruto quickly ran towards them and Zabuza chuckled. "Brave little runt aren't you? That will be your demise!" he said as three clones appeared and charged the boy. Naruto fired at two of them but the third was too close and swing his sword.

Naruto frowned and was about to move when a fuuma shuriken suddenly intercepted the blade, pushing it out of its original path and causing it to miss. Naruto didn't waste this chance and fired at the clone point blank.

He glanced back and saw Sasuke was the one who had thrown the projectile. With a nod of thanks, he turned back to Zabuza and held his arm up. Suddenly the area was filled with a high pitched humming noise that started to get higher and higher. Naruto was surrounded by small blue particles of energy that were crawling towards his hand and electricity began to crackle around his body before the energy suddenly changed from blue to yellow and the humming got near deafening.

Everyone stared in shock before Naruto fired an enormous white and blue ball of energy that was flying faster than the small yellow shots they had seen before. Zabuza had summoned two more clones to charge the boy, but the blast tore through the two clones as if they weren't even there and Zabuza decided that this wasn't worth getting hit by and immediately let go of the prison and moved out of the way just in time as the shot flew by him, the water splitting apart and staying that way for a few seconds before finally caving back in to its natural state. The blast collided with something in the distance and there was a flash of light before suddenly a shockwave flew back and nearly knocked everyone over.

Kakashi was wide eyed, thankful that Naruto had not used that particular attack during the bell test and immediately shifted his attention back to Zabuza while Naruto had his blaster aimed at the swordsman. "It's over for you Zabuza." Kakashi said, as he did though, senbon suddenly flew in and embedded them into Zabuza's neck and his eyes went wide before he fell over.

Suddenly a masked ninja appeared before them and bowed. "Thank you for your assistance, I have been hunting after this one for quite aw-" but that was completely cut short to a blast to their chest and then one at the downed Zabuza's chest, making Kakashi jump back in shock.

"Naruto! Stand down! Why on earth did you do that?!" Kakashi demanded, the boy put his arm down and looked at his sensei. "Zabuza was still alive and this person was the one I shot at before, they were also watching our fight the entire time and kept dodging whenever I would attack. It's my belief that they were helping Zabuza." He said, making the copy nin stare at him incredulously. "And just how did you know they were hiding away from the fight?" Kakashi asked him.

Naruto put his head down and then glanced back up at Kakashi. His hologram wavering slightly, showing off his robotic body for a few seconds as his robotic eye glowed a bright red, Kakashi felt his breath catch. "Call it a hunch." He said, making the jounin sigh before he covered his eye.

"Alright, we'll make out way to Tazuna's house right after we b-…" Kakashi suddenly collapsed and Naruto caught him. Tazuna looked freaked out. "Is he dead?" the bridge builder asked, and Naruto shook his head. "Chakra exhaustion. Tazuna, how close is your home? We need to get Kakashi there fast." The bridge builder quickly led them off to his village, the bodies of Zabuza and Haku left behind.

-Later that night-

Kakashi let out a groan as he finally awoke. He looked up and saw his students sitting around him in worry. "Sorry, that fight must have taken more out of me than I realized." He said, making them shake their heads. "Don't scare us like that sensei. We thought the worst had happened!" Sakura said.

Kakashi let out a small chuckle. "Well at the very least we don't have to worry about Zabuza anymore. Good work all of you. Tomorrow I'll start training you after we all get a good rest." He said and with that they turned out the lights and all of them climbed into bed.

-Forest-

A dark figure with glowing red eyes stood over the dead bodies in the woods and let out a chuckle. "Take their bodies. They still have a use for us." The voice said as some figures appeared and picked up the corpses of Zabuza and Haku. "As you wish, master Sigma."
