Naruto X

AN: I know I'm bad.

The next day, team 7 was gathered in a small clearing of the forest. Kakashi was using a crutch to help him stand upright. "Okay team, today we're going to work on your chakra control." He said, none of the students said anything in regards to that so he continued "Having more chakra control will allow you to use jutsu without wasting so much chakra and allowing you to strengthen your own techniques. First we're going to learn to climb trees." He explained and Sakura raised her hand. "We already know how to climb trees, how is that going to help our control?"

"I'm glad you asked. But first, let me ask if you've ever climbed a tree without using your hands?" Kakashi countered, seeing the incredulous looks on his students face, he walked over to a tree and demonstrated by walking along the surface of it up to a branch and hanging under it. His students eyes were wide in shock before he came back down.

"It's simple. Channel chakra to the bottom of your feet and walk up the tree. Too much chakra and you'll blast yourself off of the tree. Too little chakra and you won't stick at all." At this, he threw some kunai at their feet. "Use this to mark your progress."

Sakura and Sasuke picked up the kunai and began to practice, Naruto however, didn't pick up the knife and instead opted to watch his teammates. Kakashi blinked and looked over. "Aren't you going to train, Naruto?" he asked, he was a bit shocked to see his student shake his head.

"It would be no use. I can't use chakra." He said, causing Sakura and Sasuke to fall off their trees in shock and Kakashi's eyes to widen in shock. This was a new development he hadn't heard of. "When on earth did that happen? Better question, how on earth did you make it through the academy?"

Naruto sighed before he sat down, he was quiet for some time before finally speaking up. "It started the day of graduation…"

-Meanwhile-

Zabuza and Haku stood before Sigma. Their eyes white and devoid of pupils and their bodies completely stiff in appearance. "Now go and follow your orders. If you can't complete the first objective, then follow up with your secondary one. If you fail don't bother coming back. Initiate your self destruct protocol and save me the trouble." He ordered. Both ninja gave a nod before vanishing.

Orochimaru watched with a slight frown on his face. While he liked the idea of having this Sigma person under his command, he couldn't help but feel as if the man were acting as if he was in charge. The man had effortlessly brought the two figures back to life with ease and they seemed to be following his commands without question. What troubled the snake however was that these two weren't under HIS command. Ever since Sigma had arrived, things had been changing too much for the snake sennins liking.

First was him easily eliminating his elite guard, the sound four. After he saw to their own personal upgrading, he couldn't feel their presence from the cursed seal any longer, almost as if Sigma had removed it.

Then he had cured Kimimarou of the illness that was long plaguing him, but due to the new upgrades on his body, Sigma informed Orochimaru that his body was no longer compatible with chakra, once more taking away his ideal body.

If Sigma's upgrades were removing their ability to use chakra, then he saw no use for any of them. Quite honestly he was slowly getting fed up with him but so long as he did nothing to betray him, he would let the man continue to do as he wished.

-Team 7-

Kakashi sighed as he watched Sasuke and Sakura train. Narutos' story had blown them all away, a man with that kind of power torturing a child was beyond words and Kakashi was silently fuming. Sasuke and Sakura looked mortified. Sakura because she had never heard of such a thing and Sasuke because he couldn't even imagine that.

It had answered some questions but left them with more, who were these Maverick Hunters? How did they get here? How was what they did for Naruto even possible? It seemed like a decent trade off…no chakra for the power that Naruto had displayed, but then they heard how he acquired it and their train of thought was cut off.

Sakura wasn't power hungry and Sasuke was too attached to his body to disfigure himself in such a manner. Kakashi was no stranger to alien parts of the body, but he never imagined replacing flesh with metal.

He let out another heavy sigh. After the story, Kakashi had asked him what he could all do and Naruto had told him that he was only using his buster gun, as he called it, for the time being, but he had other abilities that he felt weren't useful for the situations he was in. He also grimly added that so far, his buster gun was more than effective against every enemy he had encountered so far.

Kakashi then went on to ask if he got these abilities because of his body and Naruto gave a hesitant nod before informing him that he was doing training simulations with Megaman X and after he completed the simulations, he acquired new abilities from the enemies he fought.

Feeling that Naruto would be better off with learning to better get control of his body, he sent him off to X for the time being and told Naruto to not worry about coming back until he had completed his training. The boy double checked to make sure Kakashi was fine with this arrangement and then departed. He had been monitoring Sasuke and Sakura since then, not feeling in the mood to rest after that because his mind was wandering from all the information.

Thankfully neither of his genin was asking him questions. Sakura looked like she wanted to collapse, but she kept at it and Sasuke was having a bit of trouble with his control but he didn't give up either. Both had made a silent vow to get stronger, strong enough so that they could be a help to Naruto in any way possible and to avoid sharing a similar fate such as him since they learned that even with the use of the shadow clone jutsu and having clones that numbered in the thousands, the boy was no match for this Sigma character, what's worse is that he apparently knew where the real Naruto was the entire fight and was merely humoring him.

So they had vowed to become strong. Strong enough to fight Sigma or anyone that would stand in their way. However, right now a tree was currently halting their progress and that was infuriating both genin. Sakura had finally fell to her knees after some time and Sasuke was standing, but breathing heavily and wishing to just set fire to the forest.

Kakashi let out a sigh, this was going to be a long session at this rate.

-Naruto-

After having gotten consent from Kakashi, Naruto had gone back to the Maverick Hunter HQ for training, however he was disappointed to discover that X wasn't at the base, but rather out on a mission, leaving Zero in charge of his training.

The hunter did something unexpected and gave Naruto his own laser blade, Zero called it a Z-Saber and said that while he trusted X in the department of working with his buster, Zero never used his buster gun if he could avoid it. Instead, he preferred to use his sword and fight close range, and that's what Naruto was going to learn to do.

So for this simulation, Zero had prohibited Naruto's use of his buster gun and told him to only use the saber. With a promise that he would, Zero launched him into a training simulation. Naruto expected it to continue the one he was doing with X, but was surprised when he was in an entirely different area he had never seen before called the Sky Lagoon.

Blinking a few times in confusion, he finally went forward and started the mission. It was quite the different experience using a sword and not being allowed to use his buster gun. Slowly, he was getting the hang of it, but he still felt awkward using a blade. Zero finally took pity on the boy and changed the simulation around a bit. It showed on enemies' ways to attack, how to slash or stab them and Zero spoke over the intercom, giving hints and tips about fighting with the saber and learning to combo.

It was a good thing because by the time he got to the boss, which was a giant dragon that Naruto was, quite honestly, shocked to even be facing in the first place, he was fighting by pure reflex based on what Zero had told him and he managed to take the beast down.

With a sigh, he was about to relax when suddenly a familiar scenario was put before him. A screen with 8 different faces was on it and he stared up at Zero incredulously. The hunter said nothing but nodded with a small smirk on his face. Naruto groaned and turned back to the screen and stared at it for a good couple of minutes until he finally chose one of the faces, warping the room around.

Zero leaned back in his chair and gave a grin. He admitted that the boy had potential but he was still going to enjoy watching this.

-Twelve hours later-

X had returned and was surprised to find that Zero was supervising Naruto. While he would have preferred the boy to finish his first training simulation, he could not argue that this training was necessary and needed to happen. If X would have had his way, Naruto would have gone through earlier simulations before this, but he had taken up a mission and was away, not expecting the boy to be around for some time due to his own mission.

However, he was surprised to find that the boy was progressing through Zero's training at an alarming rate. While he had initial trouble adjusting to using only the saber, he was a fast learner and had taken to it with an efficiency many hunters rarely showed.

X dare say that Naruto was better off with the saber than he was the buster. However, X had made assumptions about all of this and figured that Naruto was only here a few hours. He was shocked when Zero revealed they had been at this for twelve hours and Naruto had just only progressed past the sixth maverick.

Immediately Zero began to laugh when X revealed he thought that Naruto was a genius with the blade and that they had only recently started training. Zero then went on to reveal that Naruto was good with the weapon against smaller foes, but once an enemy that took longer than three hits to die appeared, he began to have trouble.

He was reckless, often charging and jumping directly into the fray and not judging or watching the attacks of his enemies, and the times he played safe, he would make no progress at all and just go completely on the defense, and because of his lack of experience at dodging attacks, this was a slower ride to Naruto being defeated.

Zero finally had enough and stopped the simulation after he defeated his sixth foe and instead put him into a simulation where the boy was on a motorcycle looking object and was racing at high speed through a bunch of tracks with obstacles that were being randomized each run. X looked at Zero questioningly and he answered that he was making the boy practice this course until his reflexes got better so he would avoid getting killed as much. While the blue hunter didn't quite agree with the method, he had to agree that this was a much needed change. Naruto needed to learn how to dodge if he was to stand any chance at all in the rest of his training.

-Another twelve hours later-

Naruto had finally gone a full ten minutes in the race simulator without crashing and Zero had deemed him good enough for now and let X take the reins of his training again. Megaman told Naruto that since he was taking over, he was going back to using the buster gun.

With a nod, Naruto had gone back to the training from before and in a surprising turn of events, had cleared Sting Chameleon with little effort. He had finally figured out a way to fight the lizard, even going as far as being able to track him while he turned invisible and patiently waiting and dodging when he uncloacked.

The training Zero put him through had gone to great use and he avoided all of the spikes from the ceiling. If it weren't for the occasional slip up from avoiding attacks, Naruto would have gone through that fight without getting hurt.

Naruto had gone back to search for some of the hidden items and eventually discovered where more of the heart capsules were and he had found three of the sub tanks. However, he was still stumped on the last capsule.

While he was retracing his steps, he noticed something off about the ceiling in Flame Mammoths stage and spent a good hour trying to climb up to that spot, falling off many times and even ruining the platform so he couldn't even climb up to it. After resetting the stage over and over, Naruto had finally climbed up and acquired the last capsule and upgraded his buster gun.

He finally went into the last stage, Boomerang Kuwangers and carefully made his way to the top of the tower. Immediately confronted with the fast moving maverick, Naruto prepared for battle but was caught off guard by him vanishing in the blink of an eye. He didn't have much time to react as he was suddenly grabbed by the waist and flung up into the ceiling.

Upon landing, Naruto moved away from the maverick and fired his buster gun. The maverick took the hit, but immediately resumed his charge. Naruto did the only thing he could think of and climbed the wall.

The maverick wasn't following him up and he thought he was safe until he grabbed the horns off of his head and threw them at Naruto. He quickly leapt off the wall to the other side of the room and turned to fire. He was caught off guard by the horns curving in mid air and returning to the mavericks head.

Naruto changed his weapon and began to quickly go through all of his new abilities, seeing if anything would work against this maverick. Shotgun ice didn't do much, Storm tornado didn't do any damage at all, Electro shocker hadn't even scratched him, Fire wave did damage but nothing to write home about, Rolling shield didn't do anything, neither did Chameleon sting. He finally used Homing torpedo and to his amazement, the attack immediately flew towards the fast moving maverick and exploded, knocking the beetle over and causing him to shake his head before getting back up.

Naruto continued to abuse this and before long the maverick was defeated. Once he left the simulation, he immediately noticed a new option on the menu had appeared with a symbol he kept seeing with all the other mavericks.

Ignoring that, he went back through the stages and eventually found the other missing heart containers and the last sub tank before finally deciding to enter the first stage of the new area.

Immediately, Naruto was thrown into a strange place he hadn't seen before and it was filled with enemies he had randomly encountered in other stages. As he slowly progressed through, he was surprised when he suddenly encountered Launch Octopus again. He spoke in a monotonous tone, saying only his name and mission before he began to attack.

Naruto quickly shot down the missiles flying at him before he began to go through his weapons to see what would work on the maverick. He finally found that Rolling shield stopped the octopus and sent him spinning, interrupting his attacks and doing some major damage.

This kept up until he finally defeated the maverick and the next area opened up. Naruto continued through until he finally found himself outside and on a platform. Storm Eagle reappeared and Naruto once again fought the maverick, quickly finding out that Chameleon Sting hurt the eagle and caused him to recoil from the attacks.

Having a much easier time of this, Naruto effortlessly defeated him and moved on once more. He finally climbed through another area and waiting for him at the top of the stairs was Vile outside of his combat walker.

Just as he was about to fire, Zero appeared before him and told him to stand back, he would deal with him, and the two vanished off through the doorway. Naruto followed after and immediately heard the sounds of battle coming from the next room.

As he entered however, he was shocked to discover Zero was trapped in a cage and Vile was in his combat walker. "Ah, X. Surrender or your friend dies!" Vile threatened. Naruto blinked in confusion at being called X, but before he could even voice his opinion on the matter, Zero spoke up. "Don't listen to him X, go ahead and blast him!"

Vile burst out laughing at that. "Ha! His ancient weaponry can't even hurt me!" and suddenly Vile charged forward. Naruto remembered his previous battle and fired at Viles exposed body in the upper section. After some time, he finally wore the other robot down and Vile fired some blast at him that completely trapped him in an energy grid.

Zero suddenly burst out of the cage with Naruto giving him a look that said 'If you could do that from the start, why didn't you?' and watched as Zero blew himself up to destroy Vile's combat walker.

Naruto quickly absorbed the energy from the grid he was trapped in and burst out of its hold. Vile let out a curse before finally engaging Naruto in combat again. The blonde was caught off guard by the new attacks of Vile, who was using a gun he wasn't familiar with that fired small bullets rapidly. Naruto was firing back in kind as he dodged those bullets, which were a hell of a lot harder to dodge than he thought, when suddenly Vile knelt down and fired a small round shaped object from his knee.

It hit the ground near Naruto and suddenly exploded, sending him flying backwards before Vile aimed the cannon on his back towards Naruto and fired a huge blast of energy at him.

Naruto rolled out of the way and fired again, only for Vile to completely jump over the attack and opening his knee, drop something to the floor. It immediately caught fire and flew towards Naruto, who jumped over it and began to fire at Vile again. The fight went on like this for some time, Naruto dodging constantly and Vile easily avoiding attacks and returning them in kind.

Naruto briefly wondered if him in the combat walker was actually him holding back since he was easier to fight then, when he was suddenly hit by another attack from the shoulder cannon.

That's when Naruto began to go through his weapons and see if anything worked on the purple robot. He was getting desperate and annoyed when he couldn't properly test anything because Vile was way too fast. His attacks were quick and precise as well, making them hard pressed to dodge effectively. After what felt like an eternity, Naruto was finally making small progress through his list of weaponry and hitting Vile with them, although none of them seemed to be working until he finally got to Rolling shield.

Vile didn't react to being hurt by it, but from the energy reading he had, Vile had taken massive damage from the attack. So Naruto went back onto the offensive and waited for an opening to fire.

After another five minutes, Naruto finally managed to land a few more shots on Vile and just as he landed this last shot, Vile began to spark and currents of electricity were flowing around his body as he let out a scream before finally exploding.

Naruto ran over to Zero, who was only barely alive and knelt down next to him. The bottom half of his body was gone and his left arm was missing as well. "X, my auto repair systems can't handle this much damage. Maybe you do have the power to defeat Sigma." He said before finally fading away. Naruto blinked in shock. Zero had died? But he was talking to him just a few hours ago wasn't he?

Storing that information away, he continued on his way and after five minutes of walking, he finally found another door and walked through it. He noticed however, that the doorway was covered in webs and when he entered the room, there were four poles that came down from the ceiling.

Suddenly, a giant spider robot appeared and pieces slid out from the poles and seemed to connect to different parts of the poles. Naruto blinked in confusion before the spider began to crawl down and went along those paths before continuing down.

Naruto was confused and slightly panicking before the spider landed on the ground and a red eye appeared on its abdomen. Naruto fired at it, but a casing slid back over it and the shot was deflected before the spider suddenly climbed back up.

A frown on his face, he watched carefully as the spider came back down and kept note of the trail it took before he finally shot it. He changed his weapon to Shotgun ice, going to attempt to try out his weapons on the boss, and when it landed, Naruto shot it with Shotgun ice and the creature took a large chunk of damage and seemed to recoil on the web it was on before it scampered back up the pole.

Grinned at having found the weakness so soon, he patiently waited for it to come back down when it suddenly launched a bunch of miniature spiders down before attempting to climb down the pole.

Naruto was too distracted by the miniature spiders to shoot or even watch the spider before he was suddenly attacked by the thing and could only groan as it crawled back up the pole.

Naruto finally decided to let the attack collide with the wall and let the shrapnel from shotgun ice deal with the miniature spiders before the giant one made it to the ground so he had enough time to shoot at the red eye.

Finally he shot the spider one last time and it fell onto its back and its legs curled before it began to explode. Naruto let out a tired sigh of relief before warping back out to the main screen.

-Authors notes-

So for those of you unfamiliar with Megaman X, I avoided referring to Vile as a maverick because technically, he wasn't one. He was a reploid that willingly served Sigma simply because of his hated for X. This is explained in the movie sequence of Maverick Hunter X and slightly touched on some more in Vile mode where you play as Vile instead of Megaman X. I had a brief thought regarding Sasuke and Vile but I decided to not bother with it since I haven't fleshed out that far into the story and it collides with the bit of planning I have done.

Someone asked what pairing I have in mind for this story. Initially I was thinking Naruto and Tayuya but at the same time I'm leaning more towards no pairing whatsoever. But if you readers have a pairing in mind you'd like me to work towards, tell me and I'll see what I can do.
