Sasuke and Sakura blanched in surprise. "WH-" Naruto quickly covered her mouth and she calmed down before whispering. "What? How can they be cyborgs, I thought you were the only one!" she said and Naruto glanced at her "It might be that Sigma guy I warned you about. It's the only explanation I can think of." He said while they looked away from the other ninja and Sasuke went up to get their scroll.
He returned and handed the scroll to Naruto, they had a heaven scroll. "Naruto, you said your eye can see what people are carrying. Which of these groups are carrying an earth scroll?" he asked and the blonde gestured towards two random teams.
"I think it would be best if we went full stealth and avoided combat as best as we can." Sakura whispered, and the two looked at her. "While I doubt anyone besides the ones Naruto listed off can give us trouble, I still think it would be wise if we avoided bringing unwanted attention to ourselves and have Naruto actively check which teams have a scroll we need before we decide to engage them." She whispered and the two gave a nod at her before she seemed to shudder. "And besides…that grass ninja…they keep looking over here, they keep looking at you Sasuke." She said and the boys' eyes widened.
"That one is Orochimaru. Why is he so interested in us?" Naruto questioned when they were suddenly told to line up at the gates. Suddenly the gates sprang open and everyone immediately rushed inside.
However, team 7 took to the trees and went as high as they possibly could and carefully began to make their way through the forest with Naruto keeping an eye out. Suddenly Naruto came to a halt and pointed off to a direction and his teammates held still.
Suddenly another team ran by them and passed through. They stayed still for a few moments and Naruto nodded and they began to move again. This kept up for some time until finally Naruto halted and gave a nod at the team he was pointing at that was heading their way.
As the enemy team was passing along, they didn't even notice the shadows that overtook them when all three got pounced on from above, the impact knocking them out cold. They swiped the earth scroll and quickly went back into hiding before making a beeline for the fortress in the center.
Suddenly Naruto froze and pointed off in a direction and his teammates stopped as well and hid in the leaves as they waited for some kind of signal. He then pointed down and they saw a single genin in a yellow jumpsuit and an oxygen mask walk by. He seemed to be looking around before Naruto suddenly fell down on the guy. Sasuke and Sakura followed down. "What's up." Naruto said to the groaning ninja. "So any reason you're out here alone?" he asked and the boy coughed before answering "You looked weak so I figured I could take you alone." He said.
He looked at Sasuke and Sakura who gave a nod before they did rock paper scissors, with Sasuke winning and he pulled out a kunai, the ninjas eyes widened. "W-Wait! I'll give you my scroll! There's no need to kill me!" he said and Naruto shook his head.
"You don't have the scroll and eliminating you takes out your team as well. Nothing personal, but the less competition we have, the better." He said before he flipped the boy onto his back and held him down as Sasuke brought the knife in the cut the boys throat.
They took any items they deemed useful and incinerated his body before going back to the trees. Sasuke was quieter than normal after that and was slightly shaking. Naruto and Sakura put a hand on the boys shoulder. "Take some deep breaths Sasuke. We'll rest for a few moments." He said and went back to scanning for enemies while Sakura sat with the boy.
After ten minutes Sasuke had calmed down and was ready to move again which was a good thing because as they were getting ready to move, a giant blast of wind hit them. Sasuke and Sakura quickly held on with chakra and Naruto just stood there blinking, the attack not even pushing him back.
Suddenly the grass ninja from before had appeared. "I finally found you Sasuke-kun." The ninja said as the three of them got ready to fight. "What do you want Orochimaru?" Sasuke called out as he held some shuriken in his left hand, the ninja looked surprised and then grinned.
"Know who I am already? Well that saves us the trouble of introductions. But what I truly want, is you." The snake sennin answered as he dropped the disguise and revealed himself.
"Sicko." Naruto quipped, making his teammates chuckle and the sennin to frown. "Not like that." He replied, which only made them laugh harder. How dare that brat! The sennin did some hand signs and suddenly a huge snake appeared and lunged directly at Naruto, whose response was to raise his hand and fire a bust shot at the thing which tore into its flesh and made it let out a loud hiss and reared back and Naruto fired a few more shots into the creature and it vanished in a puff of smoke.
Orochimaru's eyes narrowed. So this was the brat that Sigma was talking about. While he admitted that fighting on a limit was the smart thing to do, he might have to rethink that plan if he was going to have to compete with this child.
"Be gone brat. My business is with the Uchiha." He said as he started to make some hand signs and suddenly a torrent of water shot out and hit Naruto who had risen up his arms and a red barrier had appeared around him before the attack hit him and it was forced to go around the shield. The sennin had expected to blast the child away, not for him to just tank the attack and brush it off.
Naruto gave him a look that practically spelled annoyance and he fired his buster at Orochimaru who quickly moved out of the way of the attack before rushing the boy and taking a swing at him.
Orochimaru was quite surprised however when his fist connected and he felt like he had punched solid steel and the boy hadn't even flinched before he gave Orochimaru one hell of an uppercut that knocked the snake sennin off of his feet.
He did a flip and moved away before doing a few hand seals and suddenly two clones appeared and each charged a member of team 7. Naruto cursed, he knew fighting against Orochimaru would be hard, but he hadn't counted on the man actually trying to divide his attention.
As Orochimaru closed in on him, he let the snake take a few swings at him as he blocked and countered until he finally thrust his arm forward and punched the snake in the stomach which stumbled him back before he brought up a knee to the boys own gut, but instantly regretted it since he had hurt his own knee and Naruto wasn't even hurt because that's where his armor was the strongest.
Naruto quickly shot the sennin in the other leg, then the leg he injured his knee on and then with a quick motion, pulled out his saber and beheaded the man before it suddenly crumbled into mud.
Cursing, Naruto turned and ran to Sasuke. Sakura meanwhile was having to pull out all of the stops just to try and take this snake on, even by taking off her weights, she was barely keeping up with the man and she was hard pressed to try anything offensive.
Finally she had her chance when he did a thrust and she grabbed his arm under her own, spun in a circle and elbowed the sennin in the face repeatedly before she turned pulled his arm over her and flipped him onto his back as her hand grabbed onto a kunai and she smashed it into the snakes throat, he suddenly crumbled into mud and she sat on her knees panting and rubbing her arms, no doubt she was going to bruise because that man hit like a god damn boulder.
Pushing those thoughts aside, she got up and quickly charged towards Sasuke. The sennin was smirking as the boy had him on the defense and suddenly he flipped it around and began to attack the boy relentlessly.
Sasuke cursed as he was put on the defense and was doing his best to try and block some of the attacks but it was proving worthless as the man was simply too fast for him. The sennin let out a chuckle as he kicked the boy and sent him flying backwards. "What's the matter Sasuke-kun? Is that all you can do? Why don't you show me your lovely sharingan and step things up?" the snake goaded but frowned when the boy simply took off his weights and threw some shuriken at him.
'What is he waiting for? Don't tell me he hasn't unlocked his sharingan yet!' the sennin was pissed, he had counted on Sasuke having unlocked the sharingan so he could test the boys full capacity, but either he hadn't unlocked it or he was being incredibly stubborn and refusing to use it.
That's when Sasuke was frozen as killing intent, larger than anything he'd ever felt before washed completely over him and he began to panic. The snake chuckled and just as he was about to taunt the boy, he heard a noise he wasn't entirely familiar with and moved just as a buster shot blasted the spot he was just standing in.
The sennin cursed as he realized that the boys' teammates had come back much sooner than he had hoped. While he would admit the clones were not very powerful, they should have stalled for much longer than that.
Seeing his teammates and having Naruto interrupt the killing intent, Sasuke caught his breath and calmed down while Naruto rushed the snake sennin who was debating whether or not he wanted to continue this path.
He once again made some clones and they all rushed Sasuke from different angles. Naruto quickly began to gun down any near him and Sakura was throwing shuriken and kunai while Sasuke used his fireball jutsu.
Suddenly, Orochimaru popped out of the ground behind the boy and quickly bit him on the neck, causing the boy to scream out in pain as the sennin backed off. "He will seek me out, mark my words. Sasuke will be mine." He said before he quickly began to run off.
Naruto fired some shots after him rapidly but he stopped once the man was completely out of his signal range and frowned before he turned back towards Sasuke, who was currently writhing in pain and holding the spot where he had gotten bit.
Naruto quickly ran over and pulled Sasuke's hand out of the way and gasped when he saw a strange seal on the boys' neck. Without a word, he hoisted Sakura onto his back who was shocked at suddenly being lifted, told her to hold on tight before he picked up Sasuke and faster than Sakura had ever moved before, began to make a mad dash for the tower in the center.
As they were running however, they were immediately stopped by the team from Sunagakure. The redhead gave him a studious gaze before taking a few steps forward. "Mother…wants your blood." He said, and the two genin with him shot the blonde a pitying glance before backing up.
"We don't have time for this." Naruto said and when he tried to move, sand suddenly appeared and blocked the path. Grunting in annoyance, he told Sakura to climb off and hold Sasuke. She obliged and watched, for the first time in a long time, Naruto actually looked visibly angry.
The redhead had a psychotic grin on his face and sand was swirling around in the air, that is, until Naruto's hand changed appearance to a red canister looking thing and fire had flown out. The boys' sand blocked the attack, but the surprise on his face was evident when a large chunk of glass fell to the ground.
The other two genin looked shocked as the redhead suddenly opened the gourd on his back and a large amount of sand came flying out. Naruto shot out some more fire as the sand flew in at him and the redhead watched with wide eyes as the sand was turned into glass and fell to the ground, completely useless to him.
Naruto gave the boy a glare as he aimed the buster at him. "I don't have time for this. Get out of my way or we'll find out what intense heat does to the human body." He threatened, making the two behind the redhead gasp.
The boy stared at Naruto for a long while until he smiled. "I am Gaara. I look forward to fighting you again." He said, making the two behind him do a double take. Was Gaara really letting someone go?
The boy took Sasuke, let Sakura hop onto his back again and he sped past the boy, who watched with a grin. Oh he was going to enjoy this.
Naruto had barely made any progress when another squad had appeared in front of him, making him curse under his breath. It was the sound team, just as Naruto had stopped, the one wrapped in bandages stepped forward. "Hand over Sasuke and we'll let the two of you go." He said, making Naruto roll his eyes. Seriously, what the hell was up with everybody being after this boy?
Naruto put Sasuke up against a nearby tree and Sakura climbed off of his shoulders. "You take the kunoichi. The other two are mine." He said and she nodded before he put a hand on her shoulder and stopped her. "Remember what I said, be careful." He added and with that the two leapt into battle.
Naruto pulled out his saber and charged at the mummy, who charged right back at him and swung his fist. His saber connected with the arm and a loud clanging was heard as he pushed the genin back and with another swipe, had actually put a crack into the boys metal arm before taking a third swing and putting a large dent in the other side.
The boy looked panicked however, why the hell wasn't this blonde screaming in pain? Just swinging his arm was enough to activate his jutsu and the boy wasn't fazed at all! The other guy jumped in and aimed both of his arms at Naruto and shouted "Decapitating airwaves!" which fired out blasts of air that Naruto was seemingly ignoring.
The black haired boy looked surprised before he tried again, achieving the same results. Naruto however was just getting more and more annoyed. He finally aimed his buster at the boy and said "My turn. Storm tornado!" before a whirlwind flew out and hit the boy, slicing him up and sending him flying before he crashed into a boulder that finally stopped him.
The other boy had taken this chance to attack and smashed his arm into Naruto's head, who blinked before turning around and slashing at the boy, who blocked with his arm, which had finally take enough of a beating and shattered apart.
Now the mummy looked slightly concerned before he held the same arm out to the side and suddenly the clothing around it ripped apart and revealed that his arm was splitting apart before it reformed into a long metal tube. He aimed it at Naruto and fired a huge blast of sound that hit Naruto and pushed him back slightly, but didn't even hurt. Naruto blinked and stared at him and the boy was starting to sweat.
"Why aren't you getting hurt?!" he screamed and Naruto stared at him. "Because your attacks don't hurt?" he said. "I mean really, all you are doing is blasting air at me and making a lot of noise." He said as he aimed his buster gun at the guy, who tried to fire at Naruto again.
"My turn." He said before he fired, the guys eyes widened as the bullet flew into his own arms chamber and suddenly with a scream, there was an explosion as his shoulder exploded and his arm went flying.
Naruto turned and looked a bit shocked when he saw Sakura snap the kunoichis' neck and let her body fall to the ground. Sakura looked sick and he quickly picked her up along with Sasuke and resumed his race to the tower.
In the bushes however, team 9 and 10 watched what had happened in shock before Neji shook his head. Nope. He did not want to deal with that.
Once they had arrived at the tower, Sakura finally had enough and began to heave into the bushes nearby while Naruto put Sasuke down against a wall and began to read the writing that was on one of the other ones near the entrance.
After reading them, he reached into his storage pouch and pulled out the two scrolls, opened them both and tossed them away from him. There was a blast of smoke from the scrolls and suddenly Iruka had appeared before Naruto, who looked pretty pleased until he saw Sasuke unconscious and Sakura nowhere to be found.
Fearing the worst, he stepped forward "Naruto, where's Sakura? What happened to Sasuke?" he asked and Naruto turned and looked outside where Sakura slowly started to come back in. "She got a little sick and Sasuke…something's wrong with him. We were attacked by a man named Orochimaru." He said, making Iruka's eyes widen.
He quickly picked up Sasuke and began to run down the hall, Naruto and Sakura chased after him, once they reached the infirmary, some medical ninja took Sasuke and when they asked if Sakura wanted treatment, she declined it, but she still seemed off.
Sighing, Naruto walked off and they both went to the designated room for them and each of them took a bed. Well, Naruto sat on it but he didn't actually need sleep. Sakura was lying down with an arm over her eyes and a hand on her stomach.
"You okay Sakura?" Naruto asked, the concern evident in his tone. There was a sigh and Sakura sat up and looked at Naruto. "I'm…more than okay. I actually feel great. I don't know what it was but…something happened during that fight with the kunoichi and it was as if a part of me had suddenly woken up and I started to enjoy the fight. Then it was like I lost all my reasoning and when I killed that girl…" she paused and took a deep breath. "It was the greatest feeling in the world."
