"Mikoto!"

Kujou Mikoto didn't respond. She just sat there in front of the grave. 'Yanagi Naoto' clearly written on the gravestone.

"Mikoto, it's getting dark. We need to get home," her mom said, trying her best to persuade her.

"Just a little bit longer," Mikoto said, snorting. Her cries didn't seem to stop. She had been crying for hours now in front of her fiancé's grave.

Her mom just sighed. "Okay then," she said, "I'll wait with you," as she sat next to her daughter.

It happened exactly one year back. Yanagi Naoto died in an accident. His car crashed near a cliff and exploded. But the police didn't find his body. They assume the body got destroyed in the explosion. It happened one week after Yanagi proposed to Mikoto.

"Nee, Kujou?"

"What is it, Yanagi?"

"Why we're still calling each other by our family name? We're dating now and we should start to be familiar calling each other by our first name,"

"I don't see anything wrong with it. I mean I call you 'Yanagi' since we were in elementary school,"

"But you know…I mean…you might change your family name one day,"

"Why should I change my family name?"

Yanagi looked frustrated.

"I should have known you are this dense. Maybe….maybe I could just be straight forward with you…"

Yanagi's face turned bright red as he put his hand in his pocket and took out a small box. He placed the box in Mikoto's hand.

Mikoto just blankly stared at the box. "What is this?" she asked.

"Nee, Mi…Mi…Miko…Mikoto,"

"Hmm?"

"Will…will…will you…will you ma…ma…marry me?"

"What? I can't hear you,"

"Will you marry me Mikoto?"

Her flashback got interrupted when she felt her mom's hand over her shoulder.

"We should go. It's already dark," her mom tried to persuade her again.

"Okay," Mikoto agreed as she saw the sun is setting.

She wiped her tears with a flowery pattern handkerchief that she had hold for the whole time she was at the grave. "I'll come again," she said, waving at the gravestone.

Later that night, she got a call from her friend, Fujimoto Shiori.

"Hello, Mi-chan?"

"Shiori-chan,"

"Ah, am I disturbing you or something?"

"No, it's fine. What is it, Shiori-chan?"

"Actually I was thinking of going to the library near the shrine tomorrow and I thought of asking you to go with me,"

"Eh? I love that library. It has so many interesting books that I love to read. It's been a while since I last go there," Mikoto sounded excited of the thoughts of books in the library.

"Hehehe…I knew you will be interested. I'll come and pick you up at 9am. Is it ok?"

"Okay, Shiori-chan. I'll be waiting,"

"Okay, bye."

"Bye."

Both of them hang up. "She sounds happy," Shiori said, "I hope she at least a little bit distracted," she said as she turned off the light and get ready to sleep.
