Me: *walks in my friend's classroom (they are higher years)* "So I came to give ******* 's jacket back. I don't want to take it as hostage anymore anyway he should be grateful since ***** told me that I should burn it. I already had a match but I decided to be merciful"
Sorry if I update late but I had to rewrite the whole chapter because of… certain reasons. Anyway enjoy.
Zazie's POV
I can't' believe I just did that. I can't believe that I just walked away. I can't believe that I actually threw my chance at becoming a hunter out the window. I can't believe myself. I simply could not, in a million years believe at what I just did. Maybe I was just not really felling it that day. Maybe there's another chance in the near future. Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe is not enough though. It's been more than 8 days since she left for work, and without a dingo, she's adding risks to her job. I should've accepted it because if I did this wouldn't happen. Sure, it was more than just a week but without a dingo she's only allowed to be working for 4 straight days so as of the moment, she's officially MIA. She'll be here tomorrow I'm sure of it, until then, I'll start counting the days that passed.
1… she still isn't here, maybe tomorrow.
2… she's probably on her way back
3… she's most likely looking for a dingo.
4… maybe she's found a dingo to help her now.
5… she's hunting in the east; maybe, I mean there are a lot of territories there.
6… What if she's staying in a town somewhere?
7… Maybe she's on vacation without telling anyone.
8… They probably found her by now.
9… Maybe they found her already.
10… I just heard from the director that no one has found her yet.
18 days. She's been gone for 18 days. She's out there somewhere. I need to go find her.
I told the director what I planned to do, most of it. He listened carefully as I explained that I should take over some of the other Letter Bees deliveries and at the same time look for her. He didn't seem to mind it at all and allowed me to go to areas too dangerous for other bees. He handed me a bunch of maps for new places just so I wouldn't get lost and a small vial that he said was a creation of Dr. Thunderland. Crap. He told me not to use it for any other purpose, only Nathalia can use it. He didn't have to tell me twice since I really don't trust anything from the doctor but I still kept it since it could be useful. I was given one last final instruction: never leave her again. Those words echoed in my mind the whole time as I left the Hive. This time, this time for sure, I'll never leave her again.
Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock. Make it stop. Make it stop. I don't wanna hear it. It hurts my ears. My head is pounding. I feel empty. What's going on?
Drip. Drip. Drop. So many noises. Stop! Please my head hurts. Why does it fuc*ing hurt?! Maybe if I…
"Gah!" My arms! They're …. I don't feel them….. I…. I can't feel them. I opened my eyes to see that I'm sprawled on a white floor decorated with red spots of my own blood. Great, just great.
"Sorry for that dear but we can't take chances. Don't worry you're still in one piece, after all a creature like you should be kept alive. Such a fine specimen like you should be studied. You'll be safe, actually you should be thankful that I'm giving you time to heal. Internal bleeding and broken bones, I'm actually fixing them for you. It's a miracle that you're still breathing. Where you got it no need to know, why? Because you don't need to remember anything"
He jabbed a needle into my leg and soon I was dreaming and ecstasy filled dream wherein I was apparently seeing things. Next thing I know I was laughing at the ceiling and the floor. I think the floor is whispering something.
I've been everywhere; the east and north are mostly covered already. It's now the 28th day that she's been missing and as much as I want to keep looking for her, my supply has already been depleted. Over the past few days I've been thinking. What am I going to say? It's those times when you know what to say in your head but your mouth doesn't want to cooperate. I might just end up saying "Uh, you're missing so I come to pick you up…" right. Sure. That will be a great way to greet a missing friend. I'm such a genius but seriously, what do I say? "Hi. We thought you were kidnapped or dead so we decided to find you or what may be the rest of you. Wanna drink the contents of this vial? Don't worry, I am at least 30% sure that it won't cause your death. So bottoms up." I should try to write a speech. It would be the worst thing mankind will ever hear. I just entered the town Mistkiel. I'm supposed to buy supplies and search this town but I don't feel right here.
I can hear Wasiolka give a low growl while we walked in the main road. Something is off. I went to one of the dark alleys and I can hear footsteps. They're faint but they're there. I keep walking trying to count how many are following. One, just one. I could take this person on. I kept walking to make sure we were not going to hurt civilians if it ever comes to that point. I could surprise this person. He/she doesn't know that I know that I'm being followed. I quickly turned and ran after who was following me. I quickly pinned down the figure and took of the hood in one clean sweep. Sh*t. Gambit.
