Hi there! Thanks for all the people still reading this story. Only a few chapters away until the ending and I can't wait. Also I'm gonna start a new fanfic soon.
Kleia: yep. We do bring pillows and blankets sometimes. We also occasionally bring things for our survival which includes the following (but not limited to) : chargers, laptops, packs of chocolate powder (or as we like to call it: energy booster) , the three basic food group (sugar, meat and junkfoods) USB filled with movies, games etc.
Zazie's POV
When I heard that Nathalia kills people without batting an eyelash, I had to ask Gambit a lot more things. "Why? How?" I wanted to ask more but those were the only words I could come up with. My mind was too stunned about hearing what she does. Spying, Murdering and so much more. I could never imagine that she's capable of that.
"She kills for fun. That's why it's the darker side of her. Usually she uses different poisons but can sometimes use… brutal means… also as a criminal she is usually just given the alias "the snake" so it's probably why you don't hear her name being used much." Gambit took a bottle of whiskey from a cabinet and poured some in a glass. He made an offer to me but I declined.
"Sorry about drinking too much but alcohol is needed in my system in order for my heart to keep going. I drink so much that my friends say I drink it like water." He gave a half smile as if he was trying to cheer himself up but it disappeared as quickly as it showed.
"Gambit, no, I mean, Alistair… why are you telling me all these? You could just save her and take her anywhere you want to go. You could've just let us wondered what happened to her. Why didn't you?"
He gulped and paled. He sat back down and rested his head on his hands. He looks so different compared to his usual self, confident and mysterious, while this man in front of me looks tired and ruined. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
"We are leaving…" he barely whispered
"I'm sorry, what was that again?"
"We're leaving. We won't take her with us or else there will be consequences. We will be giving false information about all of us but the chances of the organization finding us are still huge. We will be scattering ourselves just so we could have a new life. None of us will be together at the end of this and I know how much you care about her. We are leaving her to you. She'll be hiding in plain sight and all of us in our group will not worry knowing that she's in safe hands. Zazie, take good care of her, after we rescue her from the lab of the Wolf Pack, I won't be there to help anymore. Get her to safety and give her this letter in case I disappear before I get to tell her." He handed me an enveloped and looked at me in the eye. There I saw determination and pure love.
"Zazie…" he whispered. He chuckled as if my name was funny. "you don't have to worry. I do love her but she doesn't feel the same about me. I know that. She is just confused about what she feels. Zazie, I just want to clear some things. Sometimes real love is when you know when to hold and when to let go. I know it's a cliché but it's true I know so myself." He smiled then took another sip of his whiskey.
"The plan is simple. Get to the lab. Find her. Get out and finally take her with you. The lab is not that advanced and security is one of their problems. There is just one problem though but I really doubt that it will happen…"
"Alistair, answer me truthfully. What's the chance of this plan being a success?"
He sighed and I knew the answer isn't going to be pretty.
"Depends but as of right now it is 40-60. Forty is the chance of success. "
I smiled much to his confusion.
"That's good enough for me."
"Thief! I told you not to touch my stuff. For the effing time stop playing with my meds. "Jubilee yelled as he chased Thief through the hallways.
"Are they always like this?" Me and Alistair were walking to the dining room to have dinner and inform every one of the plan. We occasionally see some of the team and he just gives a nod to them whenever they pass. He looked clam but I know that deep inside, trouble is brewing. He probably has so many things in mind that I can't comprehend.
"We're here." He said as he opened large double doors which lead to a dining room. The table was filled with foods of different kinds, the fire place glowed with a soft orange color and most of the team members were already eating. I walked towards a seat and Alistair took the one at the very end. Everyone started to eat but the lady at the other end of the table simply stared at me. Her eyes were red and she was pale and ghostly.
"Zazie…" she mouthed. I suddenly feel uncomfortable. She smiled widely and walked over to me. Suddenly the room fell quiet and everyone stared. The silence is deafening.
"Zazie, I'm going to read your heart. We know that based from your actions, you truly have a place for Nathalia in it but I just want to make sure. I can't leave not knowing whether I made the right decision or not. What I am doing is for her safety. She is one of my closest friends and if you harm her in any way I will personally rip your throat out. Understand me?" Some snickered while others just watched with excitement as she approached me. Her eyes glowed a bit then my memories were suddenly projected in the air. All of it were random scenes of my life, bits and pieces, me when I was 4, when I was 5, when I was 7 and so on. The lady's eyes just wandered a glow still in them.
"Zazie… I don't like you…." She said in a barely audible voice and everyone just looked down. I guess she's the one who calls the shots and if she says she doesn't like me, then my friendship with Nathalia is over.
