When You're Gone ch. 2
Hi! Long time no see! So, I finally decided to write more of this story I created months ago, since I got one review! Yeah, I didn't think this fic would get any reviews, but I guess I was wrong.
Protecter22, thanks a lot for reviewing my story! Thanks to your review, I decided to continue it.
Once again, English is not my native language, so please bear with me if you find any grammar mistakes…
Fluttershy stood there, speechless, looking at her friend's face. She couldn't believe her eyes, neither her ears.
"R-Rainbow!? Is that, is that really you!?"
Fluttershy felt like crying, but first, she really wanted to find out if this really was her dear friend.
The other pony slowly nodded and closed her eyes.
"Long time no see, Flutters!"
Fluttershy couldn't hold her tears anymore. She let one go and then more followed it. The Pegasus ran to her friend and tried to hug her, but then found out that she was touching thin air.
"W-wait, I don't get it, if you really are here, then why can't I hug you?"
Rainbow looked down, not daring to meet Fluttershy's eyes.
"Well, you see…"
There was a small silence followed. Fluttershy stood there quietly, without saying anything. After she patiently waited for an answer, she finally opened up her mouth.
"W-why are you not speaking?"
Rainbow still didn't say a thing. She just looked down, kind of expressionless.
'Is it really her or am I seeing things?'
"I know…"
Rainbow lifted her head.
Fluttershy sat on the cold ground and hid her face behind her hooves.
"W-why… why do I have to be such a scaredy-cat!?"
The cream-coated Pegasus continued on crying quietly while Rainbow was slowly closing to her.
"Fluttershy…"
"N-no, please Rainbow, don't look at me! Y-you must… hate me, don't you?"
"Flutters, I've never hated you… because you were always there, no matter what. I'm talking about both our childhoods and adulthoods, even though we're not that old. I mean, you always cheered me up. You were like a sister to me and you still are."
"B-but, if I was more brave and if I had come with you, this would have never happened!"
"I was going to die anyway…"
Fluttershy suddenly opened her eyes, tears still streaming from them. She slowly looked at her hooves, wet from her tears.
'Yes… she's right, nothing lasts forever, except the Alicorns maybe…"
When she told herself that, she once again hid her face in her hooves.
"I wish… I wish this was just a normal nightmare, which would go away!"
Rainbow was still walking to her friend. At the end, she finally reached her. The blue mare slowly wrapped her hooves around Fluttershy and brought her closer to her chest.
"Maybe it really is all in your head. Maybe all of this is just a dream… as long as you want it to be. Close your eyes and think about it… about what's real and a dream…"
Fluttershy didn't know how it happened, but she felt like she was drifting to sleep. Her friend didn't make her feel warmth, it was like cold wind blowing at her face, but for some reason, it was making her feel comfortable and save. She finally closed her eyes and let sleep take the better of her.
The sun was at its best, because it was in the middle of summer. The rays were shining right at the face of one cream-coated mare. They woke her up. She sat on her bed, her eyes still half-open. She murmured something and once again hid her face under the covers.
"It was just a dream…"
Suddenly, she heard someone knocking on her window. She decided to ignore it at first, thinking it was a normal bird wanting attention.
After some time, the knocking still had not stopped and the mare finally decided to lift her head and see what wasn't leaving her to sleep.
She widened her eyes as a blue Pegasus with rainbow hair and cerise eyes was looking at her, kind of annoyed.
The cream-coated mare got out of her bed and opened the window. The blue mare looked at her turquoise eyes and said:
"Fluttershy! You sleepyhead, why didn't you answer my knocking, huh? Twilight said that she wanted to see all of us. So, since you were late, I decided to come here and take you with me."
"R-Rainbow! Is that really you?"
"Yeah, who else might it be? There's no one as awesome as me, is there?"
She smirked at her own words and gave a smile, which Fluttershy loved to see. It meant that her friend was alright and somehow made her feel less worried and relaxed.
Fluttershy felt warm tears coming out of her eyes. Rainbow noticed it as well and went inside of her friend's bedroom.
"Hey Flutters! Why are you crying?"
"I'm s-sorry, I just had a bad dream… b-but you're here now, right? And you're fine, r-right?"
"Yeah, I'm."
Fluttershy lifted a hoof and touched her friend's left cheek. Rainbow just looked at her with confusion in her eyes, not knowing what happened. Before she knew it, she was deeply hugged by the cream-coated mare.
"Just what the heck was your dream about!?"
"L-long story. Now, let's go. We shouldn't make Twilight and the others wait, right?"
Fluttershy smiled and wiped the tears off of her face. Rainbow, still kind of confused, smiled and opened her wings, ready to go.
"Okay, let's get going."
"Yeah!"
As they were leaving Fluttershy's cottage, the cream-coated mare looked back at her home, still remembering the horrible dream she had last night.
'So, it was all just a dream?'
She once again looked at Rainbow's back before smiling and fastening her flying, in trying to not fall behind.
*End*
Woo-hoo! This is my first finished fic I've ever written. Well, it was kinda sad, but fun writing this chapter. I mean, the whole fic was kind of meant to be… sad. I don't know why, maybe I was in a bad mood and that was my reason for making the fic so sad.
Well, now that I finished it, I guess I should think of more stories to write.
