CHAPTER 9

"So to start of the new school term, I would like to make an important announcement, because it is now the start of the second semester, we would have a change of seats, afterwards so say goodbye to your soon to be previous seatmates and hello to your new ones. This would be good because you guys will have a chance to meet and interact with others. The seat plan will be random, we will have raffle draw so that you will know your seat according to the number you had drawn. Other than that, I will also have an unexpected announcement. Today we have a transfer student. I would like you guys to meet, please come inside…"

I don't know why but I feel like the transferee is a bearer of destruction, if that makes sense. It feels like the kind of moment when they are announcing the winners for best picture in famous awards like Grammies, everyone is tensed and on the edges of their seats.

"Ms. Flay Allster." Sir La Flaga finally said it. Then came in a girl with long straight red hair, no doubt it was her. Kira's ex, so that's why I feel some bad vibes from the transfer student. I suddenly glanced at Kira, it was written all over his face the shock from Flay's return, he even murmured her name. I then glanced at Lacus, I wonder how would she react from her boyfriend's ex's return. Wait, have Lacus even knew what Flay looked like, or have these two met before? Anyways I'll ask her later, though Lacus looks all calm and collected.

The once merry and joyous atmosphere turned into a rather awkward one. I guess everyone knew about Kira and Flay's past. Everyone was returning glances at Kira and Flay, it was like watching badminton, tennis, or volleyball whenever there was a long rally.

Sir La Flaga did fake coughs "Uhm, okay. Well the atmosphere suddenly became tense so I'm assuming everyone is familiar with our transferee, however nevertheless, Ms. Allster please do introduce yourself for the sake of those who aren't familiar with you."

"Oh, right." She nodded. "So, huh…I guess everyone knows me here except those whom I didn't go the elementary with. Well so once again I'm Flay Allster, I used to live here, but then my parents both migrated to America, because of better opportunities there, so I left here and moved there with them. So there, I hope I can still be friends with you despite enrolling a little later."

"Is that all you want to say, Ms. Allster?" He asked. She then nodded in response.

"Okay, then it seems that chair at the back over there, is available so, just sit there." Sir La Flaga said

"Where sir?" She asked

"Oh yeah, I'm Mu La Flaga, just call me Sir La Flaga, I'm your homeroom teacher. The one behind Mr. Hibiki." He pointed

"Oh…right." She then lowered her head and quietly walked her way to the desk.

I suddenly face palmed myself thinking why of all seats, is that one seat the only available one?! Seriously once again the gods are playing with us.

"So to start of the new term, I'd like to ask everyone how was your vacation? Just for a little ice breaker, to start of the term, just for today's meeting we will have no assignments nor lectures just talking about vacation. However, tomorrow will once again be formal lessons." Sir La Flaga said. "So any volunteers?" He asked.

Vino then raised his hand. "Okay Vino. What would you like to share?" Sir La Flaga asked

"I'd like to announce that though a lot might have heard it already. But I'd like to formally announce that Ms. Meyrin Hawke finally accepted me and we are now officially a couple." He stood up and proud.

"You love idiot!" Yolan shouted, and everyone laughed.

Meyrin then suddenly blush bright red. Seriously though who wouldn't be? Vino's kind of stupid but at least he has guts and knows how to ward of possible rivals. I then smiled at the thought of having someone do the same for me. I took a quick glance at Athrun. He then noticed then smiled. I quickly shook my head. Blushing did he notice I was looking at him for a while? Our eyes met so of course duh! Ever since I realized I like him, every time I'm with him I'm all tensed up and my heart is beating so loud I'm afraid he might hear it.

It was now finally lunch break. Everyone then started to barging Flay with questions, especially Shiho, she keeps asking questions like crazy. She always says it would be such a good scoop and will surely be the talk of the campus. Most asks questions such as "How was America? Are the food good? Are Americans friendly? Were guys there more handsome compared to the guys here?" And such she keeps answering in very short sentences such as "I guess, not really, it was nice." It was like she was keeping a barrier and purposely trying not to fully open up with everyone.

So far ever since lunch started I haven't seen Kira and Flay together, talking at least. Neither of them dares to approach the other. I really thought Flay would be the first to approach Kira, but it seems she's reluctant to do so, or maybe that's just the way I see it.

From what I remember Kira and Flay were so in love back then. From what Kira told me before, when we were younger this is how he and Flay met. He first met Flay during fourth grade, she was a new student at their school they weren't classmates, they were from different classes at that time, but he has heard of her for she became popular easily because she was pretty and clever, so she easily fitted in class. She said that her family constantly transfers from time to time. So they move often, but before she said that her parents promised that they won't move ever again, and they'll be staying for good. They met when both of them were assigned to be the batch leader for the school sports festival or intramurals. That's how they started getting closer, Kira even mentioned that before he thought that she was cold and snobbish, but they gradually became closer with other as the sports festival was getting nearer. To the point they exchanged numbers with each other and became texting buddies. I even remember that Kira was addicted to his phone, he didn't want to tell me the reason but I secretly stole his phone to see who it was. Despite having a password, and even though Kira's a genius he wasn't that good with choosing passwords, like who in the hell would choose 4321 as a password even a baby can decode it!

Anyways, so it was during fifth grade he and Flay became classmates, and because of that became closer. Until slowly they fell in love with each other despite the young age, gosh! Kids these days! So, I can say that Kira was very in love with Flay, I just don't know about her if she's the same, but I think so, cause the first time I met her, she was very clingy of him. She was all flirty with him and to think we were only freaking twelve at the time! And gosh I'm her sister so calm down not like I'm gonna steal him from you! She really irritates me, because not only is she clingy but also such show off! Which makes me annoyed the more, she shows off that she has a better body than me, when we went swimming and my parents invited her to come join us. She was wearing a pink polka dot bikini and I was wearing my rash guard and board shorts. And she was like "Oh my gosh Cagalli! You should totally wear one of these, it's so much better in the beach. Not only does this show off your body, it also gives a good tan line. Unless you're hiding your fat it's understandable." She said so with a fake smile

"Well I'm more comfortable with these, plus I don't want to be tan I'm already tan as it is. Plus I do agree you do need a tan you're too white you might be at risk at having skin cancer. Oh and by the way I'm not ashamed of my body rather I'm too proud of it that I'm just afraid guys can't stop staring at it the moment I wear a bikini, that's why I hide it, and I suggest you shoudn't be too proud of your body when in fact I can see you belly coming out, you should try doing sit ups every once in while it might help. Lastly, just a tip I also heard it's the season for jellyfish so good luck not being stung later." I replied with sarcastic smile and left. I saw the look in her face and I was very satisfied.

I never really liked her because of her attitude and how she acts around Kira. I never really understood what Kira sees in her. He always explains whenever I ask "You'll see she's just like that to everyone she isn't close to. But once you get to know her, you'll realize how nice she is."

Well going back to the present the current Flay doesn't seem to act all high mighty now compared to before, wherein she always say nasty stuff about others. Now she acts all timid and quiet. What the heck happened in America? I thought she was gone for good? From what I remember after they broke up Kira was a mess, because Flay just suddenly left without a trace. He was like a mad dog searching for her. All he knew at that time was that she moved out somewhere in a foreign country.

It took a year before Kira was finally able to recover. He was such a wreck that every time I see him he wasn't his normal self. He was always staring into space. It feels like he lost something so precious to him, like a loved one passed away. His grades constantly drop, my parents even thought that he might need counselling. My parents even hired detectives to find Flay just so she can makes sense out of him. He was always crying himself to sleep while holding a picture of Flay. It took 5 months before they, my parents, heard from the detective. He said they were living in Portland, Oregon. They tried contacting her, but there was no respond. It took two months when they got a call from her, at that time Kira was doing better, he was almost back to his normal self. His grades were better, and he wasn't crying himself to sleep.

From what my parents told me after the phone call. All Kira said after was "It's over." He was crying so hard the tears kept falling and he just suddenly rushed to his room. They didn't heard from him that night and was only able to talk to him in the morning he told them that Flay told him to not bother her family anymore, that everything they had was over, she was happy over there and that she hopes he is the same. She already moved on and even has a new love interest over there. She also apologized for leaving so sudden but the transfer was too sudden that even she was shocked to know they were leaving the country. After that he never heard from her ever again, because ever since she left the country she has deleted all her social media accounts. So, there was no way of contacting her, even the number she used to call was no good. However, even when that happened, we thought he will revert back to being depress but thankfully he didn't.

It was rather the opposite he was doing better, with the help of counseling, friends, and most especially family he was able to overcome it. And just within a year he was back to his old self even better he started working out so he gained a few muscles and lived a healthier life. Right now I just wish now that Flay is back she won't bother him again, because it could trigger Kira to return to that sate, or maybe even worse. I just don't want him to be hurt again, as a sister of course I worry. So now as much as possible I'd do anything so those two won't be any closer than classmates.

When I was eating with both Miri and Lacus, I had the urge to just ask her about how she feels about the current situation, but just don't know how to bring it up. I think Miri feels the same way. We were looking at each other. It's not like we were avoiding the topic but it's just I don't know kind of hard to bring up. We both want to ask Lacus, but she seems to act normal, she's even all smiley.

It was then a long haired brunette suddenly barged in the peaceful and quiet lunch.

"So Lacus how do you feel about the sudden of Flay Hmm…? Do you see her as a love rival? A threat to your relationship? Do you have any plans to stop her from getting any closer from Kira?" She suddenly asked really fast. She then faced me while holding her notepad, with a pen. "How about you, the sister of the most talked about guy right now? Who's side are you on are team Lacus or team Flay? What are your opinion on the situation? Do you think Kira has still feelings for Lacus? Or that has he moved on? Hmm….?" She was staring at me

"Umm…." I was lost for words

"To be honest…I don't see her as a threat. I trust Kira, he won't do anything stupid. He's smart and I know he feels the same way as I do. So no worries, and I won't stop Kira from talking or being friendly with Flat, as a matter a fact I'd gladly want to be on good terms with her. She seems nice." Lacus answered with a friendly smile

"Oooh, nice answer." Shiho complimented

I hold Lacus' left shoulder and reassured her by saying, "Don't worries I'm on your side. Anyways I'd rather you be my sister-in-law in the future hopefully than her."

"So did you get your answers Shiho?" Miri asked

"Yep, I'm sure everyone from campus would like this topic. It's the hottest gossip right now. Now I just need Flay to open up a bit and I'd be able to make the article." She said holding her chin up

Yzak suddenly came in, "Did she bother you? With crazy questions?"

All three of us shook our heads no.

"Well then I'm sorry if she did. Come on now Shiho we still have other important stuff to do like finding other better and appropriate stories that are academic related." He said, dragging Shiho out of the room.

The three of us started laughing while happily eating our lunch.

Before lunch ended one of our teachers asked me to go to the faculty center, to see him it was regarding one of the assignments I missed last term. He wanted to see me. It is such a hassle. You have to pass by the courtyard before you can go to the faculty center it is such a hassle and burden going there. The classrooms are located on a different building and the faculty center is in a different building. It's a five minute walk from here to there if you're a fast walker but if not then it might take longer.

As I was passing and on my way to the faculty, I saw a familiar back of a guy. It was Kira, I hid behind a tree, I took a glance to see who he was with. The voice was of a girl. It couldn't be Lacus because Lacus was inside the classroom. It was Flay. She was crying. I can vaguely hear what they were talking about but I can still hear what their conversation is. Crap I just remembered that time I was in a similar situation, but with Athrun. I once again blushed at thought of Athrun.

"Kira…please stay with me!"

"No I can't I'm with Lacus now! I'm sorry to hear what happened but you need to stay away. From me, my friends, and family, especially Lacus, I don't want to hurt her. She's the one who holds my heart now. I don't want to associate with the likes of you anymore."

Go Lacus! But what is he talking about? What happened over America for her to suddenly come back? Kira acted cool there for a while.

"Why are you being so harsh all of a sudden?" She meekly asked

"Harsh?! Harsh? You think what I'm doing is harsh? God Flay! This isn't even half of what you did to me back then. I was lost, I was an idiot to even think you still love me and you'll come back for me. Remember that call?! Huh Flay? You said the same f**king thing over the phone. You remember that? Did you even once think about how I felt? Did you?! God dammit Flay don't look at me as if I'm the one to blame for every shitty thing that has happened to you. Because you know what! It's your own damn fault you chose to do that. So goodbye Flay, I hope you have a live a good life. Stay out of my life! From now own we are strangers! You are nothing to me now, the past we have will now just be a distant memory, one we can never go back to anymore. I hope this will be the last time you'd call me out in private." Kira said, he then left after that.

Flay's face was shocked, she was crying so loud, she was so hurt. She fell down on her knees, both hands on her face. I knew it, Flay would be the first one to approach. However, I never knew Kira had it in him, I always thought he was a cry baby, but he seemed to be man right now. I feel kind of sad for Flay but she did deserve it.

While I was still looking at Flay, it seems Kira saw me.

"So, how long have you been in there? Heard the whole thing? Are you eavesdropping on me now sis?" He suddenly greeted. I was taken aback a bit from the shock.

"W-what?! NO! You idiot! I was on my way to the faculty center when I saw you guys. I wasn't planning to eavesdrop, I was just curious that's all. I only heard about the part when said don't go and the rest of it until the end." I explained. "I've got to compliment you though never knew, you can act all manly and all." I said sarcastically

"So you didn't hear the beginning?" He asked

I shook my head no. "But I am curious as to what happened to her while she was in America. She seems to be needing you right now."

"Long story, but I'll explain it later at home. Oh yeah, can you tell the teacher I'm at the clinic, I just need to cool my head for a bit." Kira said

I suddenly felt worried that the thing I'm afraid would happen. "Why?" I concernedly asked

"Sis, don't worry I won't go back to how I was before. I can see it from your face that you're worried. I just really need to cool my head of I'll be at the rooftop, to think clearly, because I don't think I can focus with lessons, while my head is in such a mess. Don't worry I won't cut school, just one class or maybe if I feel better a little bit earlier I'll come back just later. So you better go back to your business, while you still have time. Break is about to finish in fifteen minutes." He said patting my head

"Oh crap! You're right! That old man will kill me! Okay then see you letter. You better tell me the whole story at home, okay?" I said while hurriedly running. But seriously I wonder what happened?
