Hey, guys! I'm back. I know it's been over two years since I posted chapter three but I just watched The Hunger Games on TV and got inspired. I changed a lot about this story. The name, the description, the pairing, and the plot have all changed but I decided to just go with it. Please don't hate! I'm sorry for taking so long but as you can see my writing has really improved over the years and I'm ready to get to work.

Chapter Four:

The elevator to our room opens up and I walked out in awe. The room had a swooping ceiling and a beautiful chandelier that sparkled in the last few rays of sunlight that leaked into the room.

The walls were a nice beige color but that where all the niceness stops. The chairs are all this lime green color that hurt my eyes and the dining room table was a bright orange. The coffee table was bright blue and all the end tables where purple.

The colors took away from the magnificence of the room but only temporarily. The room was still large and grand despite it all and I was still breathless of it.

"Wow," I breathed, in awe despite myself.

"I know," Effie squeaked, "because you're the twelfth district we get the penthouse! Isn't that just the most exciting thing you've ever heard!"

Peeta and I shared a glance with Haymitch and we all rolled our eyes at him.

"Your rooms are down that hall," Haymitch said motioning to the left, "Katniss on the left and Peeta on the right."

Effie nodded from behind Haymitch and tottered over to the dining room on her high-heels, "Yes, go get settled in. We'll call you out when dinner is being served."

Peeta and I nodded before going down the hall that held our rooms. His hand brushed up against mine and I leaned away from him. I glanced at him peevishly out of the corner of my eye to find him watching me.

As soon as we reached our doors I went into my room. I glanced back over my shoulder at him and frowned to find him still watching me. Not even opening his door yet

I smiled at him quickly before closing my door firmly.

I looked around my room. It was about the size of my house back in the Seam. It held its own bathroom which had its own shower. The bed was big enough for two of myself and my whole family.

On my night sand was a lamp and a remote. I sat down on the bed before carefully picking up the remote. I held it gently in my hand and tapped the murky white service.

I flinched as across from me on the wall a moving image of Capitol people walking down a busy street. It was like a TV on the wall. I looked down at the remote and tapped it again in awe and it changed to the ocean.

I grinned in wonder as I tapped it again. It changed again this time to a familiar forest. I stood up in shock before approaching it. I reached a hand out touched the wall as I closed my eyes and listened to the sounds of the birds chirping and the wind blowing.

Tears sprung up in my eyes and I turned away from the wall before scrambling to turn it off.

I set the remote back down where I found it before taking a deep breath and sitting down on my bed. I laid back and closed my eyes.

My mind immediately went to the monstrosity that the people in Two call a boy. He must be at least six foot. The tight clothes he had on definitely showed off his body. He had muscles everywhere.

What did they say his name was again. I just can't remember…

I sighed and shook my head before heading into the bathroom. I turned one of the many knobs in the shower and started the water.

I peeled off my clothes before stepping into the shower. I tipped my head back and enjoyed the feeling of warm water flowing down over my head for what is the first and probably last time.

I grabbed the least fancy soap for the shelf and lathered myself with it before stepping out and going to the sink. I grabbed a brush and brushed my hair out. I expected my hair to put up more of a fight but the brush just slide through it.

I shook my head at myself in the mirror before stepping out of the bathroom and back into my room. There was a dresser across from my bed that, as I opened it, I saw held a multitude of clothes I would never have a chance to wear in my short time here.

I picked out the simplest one. A simple green shirt with a pair of black pants. Even though there were the least complicated of the clothes in my drawer they were still way better than anything I could wear back at district twelve.

I stepped out of my room cautiously and looked around for anyone before going back into the main room.

I looked around again but there was still no one in sight. No Haymitch or Effie or Peeta. It seemed that I'm the only one on our floor.

I've watched enough Hunger Games to know that training officially starts tomorrow but the tributes can still look around one their first night. I bit my lip hesitantly before going and pressing the elevator button. I looked around nervously as the elevator dinged and the doors slide open.

I walked in and pressed the button for the lowest floor making the elevator ding again and the doors slide closed. I watched as each of the buttons light up as we passed each floor. 11. 10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4. 3. 2. And then it stopped.

The number light and stayed light as the elevator stopped moving. I straightened up nervously. What does this mean? Does this mean someone on the second floor is getting on. What if it's that monstrous boy that glared at me earlier?

I took a deep breath to calm myself. It might no be the boy. It could be the girl or one of their mentors.

Somehow that's not comforting. The girl looked like she wanted to tear me apart with her bare hands and the woman mentor looked like she wanted to do the same with her teeth.

The doors slide open to reveal the person I wanted it to be the least. The monster boy.

He looked surprised that I was in the elevator but didn't say anything as he got in. He went to go press a button but stopped when he saw I had already pressed his button. Apparently, we're going to the same place. Great.

I leaned on the wall farthest away from him and watched him blatantly. I was right before. He's definitely over six foot and he did have muscles everywhere.

He crossed his arms making his arm muscles ripple. I cocked my head as I continued to stare at him out right. But he paid me no mind as he stared straight ahead. He seemed almost… Shy.

He doesn't seem anything like how he was before. Before he was all dangerous looking and looked like he could kill me with a look. Now he's acting all shy. I don't understand.

The elevator dinged and the doors slide open. The room was bigger than the whole Seam back home. It had all kinds of different things for you to do. There was a fire building station, a camouflage station, a knot station, a berry picking station, and of course a weapon station.

The boy from Two quickly walked out with me trailing curiously behind him. He doesn't seem threatening at all.

He went straight through the weapons section to the swords. He grabbed one leisurely before holding it in front of him. He took a deep breath before stepping close to one of the dummies and smoothly chopped its head off.

My breath hitched as he continued to make his way through the rest of the dummies in front of the sword section. Once he had torn through every last one of them he took a deep breath and returned back to where he found the sword.

He glanced over to where I stood on the edge of the weapon section just watching him and turned away quickly.

I snapped myself out of it and turned to the archery section. The bow there was a shining silver color that seemed to call out to me.

I hesitantly grabbed it and a case of arrows before testing its string. I pulled the string back as far as I could to get a feel for its tension before notching an arrow in it. I took aim at the dummy farthest away from me. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, then opened my eyes, let out my breath, and release the arrow all in one motion.

It landed solidly in the mannequin's neck. I notched another arrow and proceeded to take all the dummies out one by one in less than five seconds. All with the same scary accuracy I normally have.

When I finished I unconsciously glanced over at the boy to find him staring at me the same way I had been staring at him moments ago. He quickly looked away but looked back with a small nod.

My eyebrows rose and I looked away just like he did seconds ago. I set down the bow the way I found it in embarrassment before walking back over to the elevator.

I pressed the button and quickly braided my hair as I waited. Suddenly the boy was beside me. He crossed his arms in front of his chest and I had to stop myself from talking.

When I saw him in the tribute parade he seemed so mean and tough but right now he seems more like a harmless boy even though I just watched him chop through ten dummies without breaking a sweat.

The elevator doors dinged open and we walked in before pressing twelve and two. The elevator doors closed and I could hear the whirling and hissing of the machine as it lifted us up through the floors.

I looked back at the numbers to see the two lighting up as the elevator stopped. The doors opened and the boy walked off. He looked back at me quickly as the elevator doors began to close.

Suddenly, someone spoke, "Where have you been, Cato?"

The boy, Cato, shrugged, "Nowhere."

His voice rumbled through the floor and I grinned. His voice sounded just as shy as I had imagined it would be.

The elevator closed before continuing back up its trek to floor twelve. I leaned back against the elevator wall and thought over our time together. We hadn't spoken a word to each other but I could tell he wasn't a bad guy.

Cato… I wonder if he knows my name.

The elevator doors slide open and I walked out to find everyone at the table eating.

Haymitch glanced up at me as I stepped out of the elevator, "And so the princess has returned."

I rolled my eyes at him, "I just went to look around."
Effie beamed at me, "How wonderful! Wasn't it spectacular?"

"It was fine," I said as I sat down on the opposite side of the table as Peeta.

"Fine," Effie squeaked indignant, "this is as magnificent as it gets!"

"Mmm-hmm," I murmured as I stacked my plate high with as much meat as I could get my hands on.

I stuffed as much ham and pork and chicken as I could get my hands on into my mouth before dumping a green smashed up paste onto my plate. I scooped some into my mouth hungrily.

Everything is so delicious here.

"Katniss," Effie reprimanded in horror making me stop and look up a her.

"Wha," I muttered around my food before swallowing thickly.

She stared at me in horror and dismay as I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, "What happened to your manners? You seemed so well off on the train!"

I shrugged, "I wasn't hungry then."

Haymitch snorted as he went to pour himself more wine from the bottle, "Well, we know what Katniss's weakness is. Meat."

I shrugged, "We didn't get a lot of this in the Seam. I'm soaking it up while I can."

Peeta grinned, "We didn't get a lot of it anywhere in District Twelve."

His plate was strangely low filled. It's like he doesn't want any of the food. We're most likely going to be dead in a few days.

Haymitch cleared his throat, "Speaking of District Twelve… Do either of you plan on going back there? Because I want to know whether or not I can relax."

I just looked at him, "Doesn't everyone plan on going back?"

He sighed and set down his drink, "Not in the higher districts. Most of the people I get just want to know how to get a quick death."

I pushed away my food, "Well, then tell me how to win."

Haymitch sighed, "You need sponsors and to get sponsors you need a reason. A motive to why you're fighting so hard to get home."

I nodded and he continued, "For you that's your sister but it's not going to be enough. What they really want is drama; a struggle that's not only physical but emotional. They want tears, they want sweat, and they want to see raw emotion on your face!"

"You make it seem like a game," Peeta said, voicing my thoughts.

Haymitch shook his head, "To them this is a game. Just give them what they want and they won't kill you."

I frowned as I shared a glance with Peeta, "How do we know what they want."

"You don't."

I wanted to scream out. This isn't fair! Then I remembered, this isn't fair. It's the Hunger Games.

"So I'll help you now," he continued. "Cinna already made sure that you stunned them but know you need to hone any skills that you may have."

"Katniss is good with a bow," Peeta blurted out.

I shot a glare at him, "Well, Peeta's strong! He can lift two sacks of flour and carry them all the way across the District."

"I'm not strong," Peeta interrupted, "I can barely do that!"

Haymitch frowned at him, "Well, whatever your strength is you need to hide it from them then reveal it the Gamemakers when they do their private scorings."

My mouth dropped open in disappointment, "Hide it?"

He nodded firmly, "You need all the shock and awe you can get."

Oops. Oh, well. I don't think Cato's one to share that kind of information especially when he doesn't know we're hiding it. But he might be trouble in the arena

Peeta nodded, "We can do that."

I gave him a look. Since when does he speak for me?
"You also need an angle," Haymitch said as what the Capitol dubbed an Avox went around and cleaned our places.

"An angle," Peeta and I asked.

Haymitch got up and motioned for us to follow him to the little sitting area. He sat down in an especially green chair and put his feet up.

"Katniss's angel is clear," he said, "she wants to get home to get to her sister. But you have to add more to that. Your mom is sick or something like that. I'll leave the details to you but make it a sob story."

"Peeta your angle is going to be harder," Haymitch said, "I want to talk to you about this before training tomorrow morning. Think it over. Why do you want to go home?"

Suddenly Effie teetered into the room, "Come on, little ones. It's time for bed! We have a bug, big day tomorrow!"

She ushered Peeta and I into our separate rooms. She slammed my door in my face and I winced. I glanced back at my bed before going over and sitting on the edge. I turned on the wall thing again.

It was still on that familiar forest. I heard the birds chirping and the leaves rustling and was hit with homesickness. I hope I'll be back there one day.

I stood up suddenly and shut of the wall. I need some air.

I opened my door and made my way to the elevator again, this time not even bothering to look around to see if anyone was there. The elevator doors slide open and shut silently except for the ding and I pressed the button labeled roof.

The elevator slide open and I sighed as fresh air hit me. I stepped out of the elevator and breathed in as deep as my body would let me.

I closed my eyes and relaxed for the first time since I reached the Capitol. The lack of animal sounds made it feel eerie and unnatural up here but if this was as close as I could get to home right now I would take it.

I noticed a bench over by the edge of the roof and went to go sit in it. As I reached the bench I saw someone sitting on the very end of it. They were blocked by the bush behind them so I couldn't see them when I stepped off the elevator.

It was Cato. He was just sitting there staring down at the city like he owned it.

I quietly sat down on the bench farthest from him and he looked over at me as I did like he hadn't noticed me until then..

I looked out past the city and, because of our high vantage point, I could just see the faint start of a forest. I sighed as a yearning came over me.

Suddenly Cato shot up and started walking away and I scrambled to stand up with him.

"Um," I stuttered making him freeze temporarily before turning around to face me. I was struck with the full impact of his ice cool eyes.

I stumbled over the rest of my words, "You don't have to leave because of me. I'll go."

He just looked at me emotionlessly for a while before come back to sit down. I started to leave and he spoke.

"You don't have to leave because of me either. You obviously like it up here."

I froze up before taking a deep breath and sitting back down.

We didn't speak a word to each other for the rest of the night.

We just sat there in compatible silence as I soaked up the fresh air. But pretty soon my fingers started to go numb so I had to get up and leave and, just like in the training center, he got up with me and waited by the elevator with me.

We went to our separate floors with me getting up first this time. Once I was back in my floor the fact that I would be faced with killing him in a few days hit me. The fact that I would have to kill Peeta and the little girl that reminded me so much of Prim hit me.

I went to bed knowing that in the morning I would be learning how to perfect my survival skills.
