Believe it or not, Leo spent most of his childhood outside America because he was always opted to go overseas but never back to Japan. This time he was designated to go to the Philippines to learn a thing or two about America's ally. Now that Leo was older he always felt that the Philippines was like the 51'st country of America and they won't just admit it.
Leo, on summer break, went to the Philippines because of the reason stated above.
"So hot…" Leo said as sweat trickled down his face. He took out his towel and rubbed it on his face. He was on a stroll today just outside of his apartment. He felt a cool breeze coming from the inside of a building. He quickly walked to the place and when he opened it, it was revealed to be a training room for Prism Shows. He saw a black haired girl skating on it.
"Meteor… Shower!" She jumped and meteors started falling from the sky. She avoided them gracefully and when she stopped the mark that she drew while skating glowed. It was a heart. It disappeared and little hearts scattered everywhere. She landed and finally noticed that Leo was watching.
"Wow…" Leo gasped. "You're good."
"Thank you." She skated off the rink and walked to Leo. "I'm Yukki Yamamoto."
"I'm Leo Harune." Leo replied. They shook hands.
"So, why's another Jap here?" Yukki asked in English.
"It's hot outside and it's cold here, go figure." Leo replied in English as well.
Yukki smiled. "Good point."
"Are you one of those so called Prism Stars?" Leo asked.
"Dreaming to be." Yukki replied. "I'm nowhere near as good as the professionals."
The two walked to the bench to continue their talk there.
"When did you start practicing Prism Shows?" Leo asked.
"About two years ago now." Yukki replied.
"Inspiration to do so?" Leo asked.
"I don't know. Maybe it was that time when my friends and I watched a Prism Show in the television and I was entranced I guess." Yukki replied.
"Just like most people." Leo nodded. "So, why haven't you tried to become a professional yet?"
"I'm still in the basics." Yukki replied.
"You made your own jump; I don't think that's a basic." Leo stood up and looked at her. "Come on Yukki, try something bigger. Something that could make you happy."
Yukki hesitated but stood up as well. "Fine. Will you help me since you did get me into this?"
"Earlier I was just feigning ignorance to Prism Shows when in all honesty, I'm a young coach." Leo pointed out. "I'll help you and I'll try my best to get that confidence up a notch."
The two stayed together for almost five hours with Leo training Yukki. Yukki trained harder than anyone Leo has ever met. This just made him more excited on what Yukki will become once her confidence takes her to another level… another level where she can compete against those she once looked up on. It was already night time when they stopped training.
"Well, it's dark outside and you might want to head back." Leo said as he threw a towel in Yukki's direction.
"Yeah." Yukki replied. "See you tomorrow I guess."
"Definitely." Leo replied.
The two trained for a number of days. After that, they were assigned to meet again but this time early in the morning. Leo already arrived first thing in the morning. He looked at his watch and it was about time Yukki went here. He sat down on the bench and started playing on his phone as he was getting bored. An hour passed by and Yukki still wasn't there.
"Where the hell is that girl?" As if by magic, or by chance, Yukki entered the establishment. "Where have you been?"
"Watch your tongue Leo, I'm older than you." Yukki said as she took a seat. She was panting. "If you must know, I made this." She showed Leo a Prism Stone.
Okay, Leo was feeling guilty because he practically shouted at the older girl. Yukki gave him the Stone and he stared at it. Wait a minute, this wasn't a Prism Stone for girls… It was for…
"I don't know if you do Prism Shows but I wanted to at least show some appreciation." Yukki said with a smile.
Inside the stone was a white suit with a red bowtie. It was something akin to a butler suit but sadly there were no pants.
"I didn't get to finish it but I had that stone made for you. Sorry that I couldn't finish it on time." Yukki said.
"Don't worry, I doubt I'll use it since I'm not that good in performing but thanks. This is more than enough appreciation." Leo said as he continued to stare at the Prism Stone.
"Do you like it?" Yukki asked.
Leo smiled. "Yeah." He felt nostalgia. It had been a long time since he held a Prism Stone. When has he last held a Stone? 2 years? He doesn't care now.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Come on, let's practice." Yukki said but Leo shook his head.
"You've had enough practice and training. It's high time I had mine." Leo said.
"Training in what actually?" Yukki asked curiously.
"This." Leo raised the Prism Stone and Yukki knew immediately what he meant.
"Why would you want training in designing?"
"I can't think of any other thing I'm good at besides coaching." Leo said.
"Academics?"
"That doesn't count."
"Why would you need it anyway? You already help people in many ways just by coaching." Yukki asked.
"It's not to help people." Leo replied. "I just want to learn. Is that so bad?"
"I suppose not." Yukki stood up. "Come with me then."
"Where are we going?"
"To the place where you can see fashion… this close." She said with a smile.
Leo was used to going from shops to shops thanks to Mary but not once did he really pay attention. Now Yukki was teaching him how to see if an outfit is well made. How to see what fabric they used just by looking at it and what fabric is most effective in a certain sport or event. Every single thing that has to be known to succeed in fashion, Yukki thought him. Leo wasn't just impressed by the amounts of information he was being fed with but he was impressed by how much Yukki knows about the topic. After two hours, they went to the nearest restaurant and ate there.
"How do you know so much about designing and stuff like that?" Leo asked as he took a bite of his burger.
"My mom taught me." Yukki replied.
"She must be a great designer then." Leo said.
"She was…" Yukki replied.
"Was?" Leo asked as he noticed that she used the past tense instead of the present.
"She passed away… 4 years ago." Yukki replied as she closed her eyes.
"I-I'm sorry." Leo said as he looked down ashamed that he even brought the subject up. "I didn't mean to…"
"It's alright. You didn't know." Yukki said. "Do you want to know more about her?"
Leo nodded.
"Well she once was a designer for this famous brand here in America. Do you know about the brand Crystal Clear?"
"I think everyone knows about that brand. It's famous enough that everyone knows about it." Leo replied. "Wait… that's where your mom worked?"
Yukki nodded. "She was a designer ever since she was young. She became famous after some time and became one of the greatest designers known in America."
"What was her name?" Leo asked as he thought of many famous designers.
"Ruby Johnsons is her maiden name." Yukki replied.
"Johnsons…" Leo suddenly grew wide eyed as he remembered that name. "Your mother is Ruby Johnsons? THE Ruby Johnsons? Wow… Wow…" Leo grew speechless. "But… I didn't know she had a child… let alone a husband."
"My father and mother kept their relationship a secret until they had me. After that mother quit the fashion business and settled down with my father here." Yukki replied.
"Who is your father then?" Leo asked.
"He's Keitaro Yamamoto. He's just a Japanese tourist who met my mother while he was here. They fell in love after that and I was born." Yukki replied.
"A typical love story eh? Is he still alive?" Leo asked although a bit hesitant at first.
"Alive and kicking." Yukki replied with a smile. "Anyway, what's your story?"
"Besides being an accelerated kid? Well I was sent to America when I was a kid to study there. My family stayed in Japan and one could say I grew up without a family. I write to them of course, every month actually or whenever I have the time. I miss them actually, everyday I want to speed up the time so I can go back to Japan quickly." Leo replied with a sad smile.
"Why don't you just go back whenever it's summer?" Yukki asked.
"My school is the one who sends me everywhere." Leo replied. "I'm not the once who chooses where I go."
"That's sad." Yukki said.
"I'm used to it." Leo replied. "Anyway, let's continue my lesson shall we?"
Yukki nodded and quickly stood up and led him to different stores. Yukki had to admit, Leo was a fast learner. In just a week, he was knowledgeable enough in the designing arts to rival her own skills. Yukki invited Leo over to her house so they could start on their project.
"Who is this?" Yukki's father, Keitaro Yamamoto, asked. He had a nice looking face and a decent looking man.
"I'm Leo Harune sir, Yukki's friend." Leo replied as he bowed his head.
"Yukki's told me much about you Mr. Harune. You are welcome in our house." Keitaro said with a smile.
"Thank you very much sir." Leo replied with a smile.
After that Yukki pulled him to the living room couch and let him sit there. She ran up to her room and came back down with a sketchpad and some paper.
"Well, let's start." Yukki said with a smile as she opened the sketchpad. For two weeks Leo has been with Yukki but nothing ever rivaled the smile she gave whenever she's sketching. Leo was just giving advices but most of it was Yukki's suggestions. They finished under two hours and they proceeded to go to Prism Space.
"Is this your first time here Leo?" Yukki asked.
"No. I've been here before." Leo replied.
Akai Mega-nee, the one who looks over Prism Space was there. "Welcome, would you like to turn those into Prism Stones?"
"Yup." Yukki replied as she handed the sketchbook over to Akai.
"So beautiful." Akai pointed out as she looked over the designs. "Did you make them yourselves?"
"I had a little help." Yukki replied as she tilted her head at Leo who was looking elsewhere at the moment.
"Oh, from Leo huh? I never thought he would be the type to be designing." Akai said as she placed the designs into a Prism Stone.
"You know him?" Yukki asked.
"Why of course. He's-" Akai was cut off by Leo.
"I thought I told you Akai that what I was before was a secret to everyone." Leo interrupted as he looked at Akai.
"Oh my, I seem to have forgotten." She said as she placed her hands on her mouth. She turned around, took the stones and gave it to Yukki. "Here you go."
"T-Thanks." Yukki took the stones and looked at Leo with a confused look. 'Why was he so bent on keeping it a secret?'
"Let's go Yukki." Leo said. "Bye Akai."
Akai nodded and the two went back to the real world.
"What did she mean by?"
"Don't worry about that." Leo interrupted. "Anyway, I was going to say that there's a competition coming up and I want you to enter it."
"B-But I'm still not that good." Yukki said as she looked away from the eyes of her coach.
"Hah, I'm the coach here remember and I know you're ready." Leo said with an encouraging smile.
"If you say so then I'll join." Yukki said.
Yukki entered the tournament and won first place. She was so happy that she cried while getting her trophy all the while Leo was watching from the audience.
"I can't believe I won Leo!" Yukki exclaimed as both she and Leo were walking back to their homes.
"I already told you that you will win." Leo said. He actually felt pride swell up in his chest as one of the people he thought won a tournament.
"Yeah but I didn't think it would come true." Yukki said with a smile.
"Hey Yukki, you should know that I'm leaving tomorrow." Leo pointed out as he looked down.
Yukki stopped and looked at the red head. "Is that so?"
Leo nodded.
"Then I want you to have this." Yukki said. Leo turned around and Yukki put the Prism Stone they made together on his palm. "As a remembrance of our time together."
Leo smiled as he looked at the three stones. "Thanks Yukki… See you again."
