Chapter 9
The Queen walked quickly and quietly, through the back door of the kitchen and into the gardens. She lavished in the feeling of grass on her bare feet and looked up at the sky.
When she had come to Earth, the impact of her ship cause the crust to throw up so much dirt and dust that it clogged the sky. When humanity sank down and gave up to Her, the fires from the battles and panic threw ash into the air, forming a cocoon of debris.
Akira could barely remember the color of the skies, only hearing it described wistfully by the blonde idiot as a 'bright blue'. It was of little significance to her though. She would never live to see the skies clear up, but hopefully her progeny would.
Occupied by her thoughts, she stopped at the two graves side by side and knelt between them. Being there sent a strange twinge through her heart, which took her by surprise. She searched for an answer, befuddled by the showing of emotion when she realized that it was regret. She missed them. Before she could fully evaluate her sudden development of empathy, she felt the approach of her favorite toy.
Ah Mori, how that human male sent a fire thundering through her blood! He was completely intoxicating. He stopped before her and looked down at her feet, noting the lack of footwear.
"You shouldn't be out here." He stated simply.
"I shouldn't do a lot of things." Her reply was just as clipped as his. He was angry at her, she could tell, but he also desired her. He wanted her body and the soul of the girl she locked away. Akira thought over her options, knowing that the time was approaching that she would have to die to give way for her new world.
In a twisted sense of irony, the 'cure' or the key to separating Akira from Haruhi, was standing right in front of her.
"Mori, tell me, what do you think of me?" Akira asked, morbidly curious as to what he would say.
Mori was surprised to say the least. For once, ever since she appeared and killed his cousin, the Queen was not taunting him or belittling him. She was just…talking. He contemplated her question, knowing that just this once it wasn't rhetorical. She really wanted to know what he thought of her.
"I think that you are a monster." He sighed softly, "I think that you ripped Haruhi out and ate her, along with everyone else I loved." He finished, voice heavy with a nameless emotion.
She seemed to pause, a carefully neutral expression replacing that of avid curiosity on her face. Her next question caught him completely off- guard.
"Do you find me desirable?"
