Chapter 17- The Court Of The Fallen King

Vali looked across the corpse-strewn field to the lone figure seated upon the snow-capped cliff, the only thing in his entire field of vision that had any sort of color amidst the field of white and gray. Vale had just finished slaughtering his way through a horde of something called Abyss Feeders, though the blizzard currently going on had already covered both the bodies and the gore in a thick layer of fresh snow.

He hadn't even slowed down when they'd started taking chunks out of him. He was fine now, thanks to his incredible healing abilities. Vali had always thought he himself was a demon on the battlefield, especially when he was in Juggernaut Drive. But Vale had slaughtered twenty times more of the creatures than he and Kanda had, and he hadn't even used any of his demonic powers or magic. He had arrived on the field, unsheathed his sword and tore into them like a man possessed. He had done things with his sword that Vali had thought impossible.

He had swung his sword so fast that Vali had lost track of the blade and arm both. Vale's attacks had been so quick that no cuts even appeared on his victims, their bodies had just disintegrated on contact with his blade. Vale had been a blur of movement surrounded by blood, gore, and amputated body parts. After the last creature had fallen, Vale had sheathed his sword and taken a seat on the edge of the cliff and had remained there, unmoving from his seat.

"Sheesh, it's colder than a witch's lady parts out here." Kanda grumbled as he rubbed his arms to warm himself.

"Quit your complaining. We'll be gone soon anyways." Vali replied as he began to trudge through the snow towards Vale. He reached the cliff before tapping Vale on the shoulder.

"..."

"Hey man, isn't it almost time to go? Your sis is waiting for us isn't she?" Vali asked as his king looked out over the icy sea. He personally had no idea where they were. Some nothing island off the coast of Greenland, but more than that he couldn't say. Vale said nothing for almost 5 full minutes until finally, he stood up,

"C'mon let's go. The White Silver King won't get too much deader before the Evil Pieces cant revive him."

"Whatever you say man." Vali said as they turned and made their way back to town...

One hour later...

Vale set his teacup down on the saucer with a clink as he looked back at Chachamaru, his robot sister. He had called her the night he'd departed from Kuoh Academy to help him locate potential servants for his peerage. It had taken her a few days, but she had finally called him back to arrange a meeting so she could deliver the results to him in person, seeing as how he had cut nearly all magical and technological communications with every on he knew, save a few important contacts and friends. But, Chachamaru had always known how to reach him.

They were seated outside a small outdoor cafe in the Welsh countryside. It was a beautiful summer day, the sun was shining high in the sky, thankfully Vale was protected from the worst of it by the awning of the cafe. As a Vampire/Devil sort-of hybrid, sunlight was not his best friend, when he was a mercenary he always tried to work at night for the same reason. They had arranged to meet here due to Chachamaru's work needs. Chachamaru was dressed in a pink shirt with a white blazer and skirt, the very model of a powerful business woman, one would never guess she was a robot, if it weren't for her obvious "machine ears".

"I've managed to locate nearly all the people you requested Vale. I took the liberty of listing the locations of all the ones I could find." Chachamaru said as she slid a file across the table to him. Vale opened it and began to wordlessly began to peruse the the contents. Fortunately for him, the only people Chachamaru hadn't located, he already knew where they were and they were unlikely to leave anytime soon.

"Unfortunately, I am unable to locate Mistress at this time..." Chachamaru said in a forlorn tone. Vale's sister was taking Evangeline's disappearance even harder than he was. Vale was silent as he continued to read the file.

"Mother does not wish to be found. You won't find her anytime soon Chacha-nee." Vale replied flatly from behind the manilla folder as he closed it finally.

"I appreciate your help Chacha-nee. But, I think I will let you get back to your work. Tell Negi I said hi." Vale said as a magic circle appeared underneath him and he sank into a shadowy vortex...

Two days later...

Arthur roused himself from his nap and headed to the bathroom to relieve himself. He made his way through the ornately decorated medieval estate. He walked past the countless ornamental vases and murals. It all made him sick, a monumental waste of money and time in this boring life of his. He rounded a corner and passed a gigantic wall-mounted mirror as he headed to the restroom.

"BOO!"" A voice from behind him shouted. He whirled around and put his fists up, ready to confront any attacker that might present themselves. He instead, saw Vale hanging from the ceiling wearing an enormous grin. The bespectacled blonde young man smiled as he saw his friend and former student.

"Hey Vale, I've been expecting you."

"Did you get my gifts and the instructions along with it?" Vale asked from the ceiling as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

"I did." Arthur replied simply as he saw Vali and Kanda step out from within the mirror. It didn't bother him, he'd seen magic before.

"Fantastic. Make sure to keep that sword far away from me and we'll be fine. Did you manage to get the other three swords as well?" Vale asked as he back-flipped down to the floor with a thud.

"Unfortunately, no. Siegfried was unwilling to part with Gram. But I did managed to get hold of the other Demon Swords as you requested." Arthur said dutifully.

"Well, that's okay. Siegfried's a dick. I'll just take Gram from his corpse next time we meet. Now c'mon, let's get going." Vale said as he set off for Arthur's bedroom.

A few minutes later, they arrived inside Arthur's chambers. As soon as they arrived in the chamber, Vale went over to Arthur's closet and fished out the four swords hidden within. He was careful to avoid touching the hilt of the two Holy blades, grasping them instead by the wooden scabbards and flinging them onto the bed as Arthur grabbed his suitcase from his second closet. Vale grabbed the third one and handed it back to Kanda before he fished out a functional back scabbard that consisted of little more than two leather loops attached to one another.

"Hey man, can I have this?" he asked as he held up the black scabbard up so Arthur could see it.

"Yeah, I've already packed all the ones I wanna take." Arthur replied as he surveyed the contents of his suitcase to make sure he had everything he needed.

"Cool." Vale said as he slipped over his shoulders and slid the final sword in the closet into his back scabbard. Arthur didn't like using Demon Swords anyway.

"So, are you ready to blow this taco stand?" Vale asked as he turned to face his newest Knight.

"Sure am." Arthur said as he slapped a paper tag on the suitcase, storing it in Vale's pocket dimension.

"Good to hear. But for now, we wait." Vale said as he leaned against the wall, propping himself up with one elbow.

"For what?" Arthur asked quizzically as Vale began to pick his teeth. Vale apparently had no intention of answering, until he heard a knock on the door.

"That." Vale said as he walked over to the door and opened it to reveal a cute, middle-school age-looking girl with a slim body, shoulder-length golden-blonde hair and dark blue eyes. Her attire consisted of a gray blazer with blue plaid accents over a white shirt and a blue plaid skirt. Her attire was completed with a huge blue hat with a black bow decorated with yellow stars and matching cape with pink flowers and a white interior.

"Hello Le Fay, looking good as always. So, have you considered my offer?" Vale asked as he went back to picking his teeth.

"I have, and I've decided, I will join your peerage. After all, I can't let Arthur wander off all on his lonesome." Le Fay said as she turned to look at her brother.

"Excellent! Then I won't need either of my Evil Pieces back. And, before I forget; here you go, Le Fay." Vale said as he materialized the trident of the Fisher King in one hand and offered it to his new Bishop. At the sight of the powerful magic artifact Le Fay released a gasp of awe as her face lit up in excitement.

"Where did you get that?! The trident hasn't been seen in centuries." Le Fay gasped enthusiastically.

"I stole it from your neighbor a few years back. Consider it a signing bonus. Your bro got a treasured family heirloom back and reforged anew with a new ability to boot. I figured you could use something to show my thanks as well...You wanna get that, Vali?" Vale asked irritatedly as he heard Vali's phone begin to ring.

"Sorry, I didn't hear it geez." Vali said irritatedly as he picked up his phone and flicked it open.

"Yeah. Okay. Uh-huh. Alright then." Vali said before he hung up the phone.

"That's Bikou. He and Kuroka met up with Isley outside of town." Vali said as he pocketed is phone.

"Cool. Alright Isley, get your ass back here." Vale said as a black magic circle appeared in the middle of the room as three people appeared within. One was a bishounen with long, silver hair. He wore a plate buckle that held 3-layer spaulders on his shoulders over a black shirt and leggings covered by chausses and sabatons. Rudimentary faulds only covered his hips. He wore vambraces that protected his forearms up to the elbow. His uniform was completed with a dickie with a cape attached to it that bore the the same insignia(|||) that was inscribed on the large claymore he carried on his back.

With him was a handsome young man with short, brown hair wearing a circlet and dressed in Three Kingdoms period armor holding a black staff banded with gold on each end. The other person was a voluptuous young woman with long black hair with split bangs. She had hazel eyes with cat-like pupils, which made sense when one saw her cat ears and twin cat tails. She wore a black kimono with yellow obi and a set of golden beads with and ornate headband. She left the kimono open at the shoulders, revealing its red interior, along with providing all the men in the room with a healthy view of her bosom.

"Alright, the gang's all here. Let's get started." Vale said as he watched 4 black magic circles appear underneath his prospective servants...

One week later...

Vale grunted as he pulled himself up onto the rocky cliff. He'd spent the last 3 days crawling through wet tunnels and cramped spaces to get here. He looked around the dank cavern, his devil vision helping him see the inside of the small cave. It was for the most part unremarkable to the untrained eye. He'd been here before, he was close to his destination.

"Why do I have to come? I hate getting dirty-nya!" Kuroka complained as she scrambled atop the ledge.

"Because, the paperwork for your pardon hasn't gone through so I need you close so no mercenary tries to kill you. Also, it never hurts to have some eye candy around. The lost continent of Mu is extremely boring." he said as he helped her dust herself off.

"Aww, you're so sweet Vale-sama! Keep sweet talking me and soon I won't be able to keep my hands off of you-nyan!" Kuroka said as she snuggled into him, pressing her breasts against him as she did.

"Dammit Kuroka, would it kill you to behave yourself?" Kanda asked he leaped to the top of the cliff. Kuroka responded by sticking her tongue out at the former exorcist.

"C'mon, it's this way." Vale said as he shook off Kuroka's embrace as he approached the far wall and began to pat down the rough stone wall, searching for the catch on the wall to open the door. It took him almost thirty seconds to locate the catch before he pulled up on the appropriate stone. The was large CLUNK! Followed by a loud grinding sound as the stone wall sunk inward before sliding open to reveal the cavern within.

The cavern inside was enormous beyond comprehension. The roof if it was so high that Vale could not see the ceiling, even with his enhanced sight. There were large rocky archipelagos and mesas dotting the mammoth cavern. They at first appeared to be completely unremarkable, but upon closer inspection one could see that there was an entire village carved into the rocky mesas. This however was probably not the first thing his servants recognized as they entered the gargantuan cave. In the center of the cave sat a colossal pillar of light that soared towards the unseen ceiling. It wasn't really light though, it was an enormous amalgamation of souls, this place served as the font for all the souls that followed the Native American mythologies.

"Whoa, what is that?" Vali asked, more than a little awestruck, as he stopped next to Vale.

"That Vali, is my next Pawn..." Vale said as he made for the center of the village...

Several days later...

Vale sat at the bar, sipping Malibu rum from the glass in front of him. He was in a run-down looking dive bar that looked like something off a pirate movie set, complete with barrel bar stools and straw walls. They'd spent the last few days in the town of Nassau as part of a mercenary gig. Arthur and Bikou were on the hunt for a local voodoo priestess. So while his servants were off at work he did what any self respecting man did when he was upset, he decided to drown his feelings in alcohol.

It wasn't working though, due to his Abyss Physique, most mild toxins had no effect on him, including nearly all forms of alcohol. Now he was out of pocket money and more irritated than ever. Behind him he saw two men ganging on a woman who had apparently hustled them out of several thousand dollars in pool. Both of the men were bald and Caucasian and obviously had more money than sense.

The woman was tall, with sun-tanned skin and long silky black hair and a figure to rival Akeno's. She had a dark leather eye patch over her right eye. She wore a long leather coat over what appeared to be a leather harness over a white cotton shirt and matching pants with black leather boots. Vale couldn't help but notice that she had a leather glove on her right hand along with wearing a large broadsword on her waist.

"We saw what you did. That right there was voodoo, yes it was!"

"Whatever you say, gorgeous. Don't gamble what you can't stand to lose." she said as he leaned back in her chair as she propped her boots up on the table with a thud.

"Oi, you hustled us you did! I want me money back!" the other man exclaimed as he advanced on the woman. Before he could take more than two steps the woman whipped out something and pointed it at his groin.

"Walk away. Or you'll lose more than your paycheck." she said, her voice icy in the island heat. The man paled as he began to visibly shake as he and his partner turned and headed for the exit. Vale decided his glass of rum would be fine without him as he wandered over to the woman's table and pulled up a seat before sitting down across the table from the woman.

"Hi, let's talk turkey. I wanna help you make a ton of money." Vale said as he leaned forward and put his elbows on the table...

Three weeks later...

Rias glanced furtively around the Gremory's private train station platform. Why wasn't he here yet? He should be here by now, she thought to herself as she began to nibble tentatively on the nail of her thumb.

"Is everything alright Rias? You seem tense." Azazel said as he sauntered over with his hands in his pockets.

"Where is he? You said he'd be here today!" She exclaimed angrily, losing her cool momentarily as she whirled to face the Fallen Angel leader.

"He'll be here, trust me. Just give him a minute, we don't leave for half an hour." Azazel said with a noncommittal wave of his hand.

"But what if he's not? What if we never see him again?" Rias asked in a panicked tone.

"Chill! He'll be here he said. He's never failed to show when he said he would." Azazel said, obviously not as worried as the Gremory heir.

"Sorry, I'm just worried is all. She said apologetically.

"Is there anything we can do to help, Buchou?" Issei offered helpfully. Asia and Xenovia were silent, but judging by the looks on their faces they too wished to help their King any way they could.

"My adorable Ise. I appreciate your offer, but I don't see any way you can help." Rias replied as she gently patted his head. Issei reveled in his Master's affection. But his excitement was interrupted by two streaks of light entering the train station. One blue and white, the other black and crimson. They zoomed toward the platform before resolving themselves into the twin figures of Vali and Vale. Vali had Divine Dividing activated while Vale had equipped Abyssal Draining which now also sported a set of black and crimson light dragon wings in addition to the tail.

"Guess who?" Vale asked with a grin as he spread his arms wide before he was tackled in an enormous hug by Rias who ran forward and threw her arms around her betrothed...
