Hey guys! I hope you like the chapter, and the fact that I posted so quickly. You'll have to let me know what you want to happen next. I hope you have a good weekend and had a happy Holiday!

On inspection of the girls in the room, Suzanne Brooks and Mary Larman were the only ones that Prentiss and I recognized from our case files. The other girls were disheveled, thin, and covered in cuts and bruises, some worse than others. They were all sitting an equal distance apart around the outside of the room, and it wasn't until I saw the small doors at the base of the wall that I figured out why. That was where the food came through, and they were protecting their claims.

Prentiss and I wordlessly moved towards two of the girls. Prentiss went to Suzanne and I went to one of the girls who looked like she was in bad shape. When I got closer to her, she pressed into the wall as far as she could and kept her head down. I knelt down in front of her, making sure to stay at a safe distance so that she didn't feel threatened.

"My name is Jennifer." She jumped when I spoke, and didn't look up. "What's your name?" She didn't answer, but I got her to glance up at me. "I'm not going to hurt you."

"Anna." She said it so quietly that I barely heard her.

I smiled slightly and moved forward slightly. "How long have you been here?"

She made eye contact with me, and a faraway look entered her face. "Years." Then she became very animated. "The things they make you do, you'll never be able to go back." She straightened up and cocked her head at me slightly. "Don't let them take you. Die before you let that happen."

I was about to ask her what she meant when the small doors around the room opened, and all of the girls jumped on the food. I went back to where Prentiss was standing, and we stood quietly, watching them. The two doors at the front of the room opened and I could only guess that they were for us. We sat next to each other and ate.

"Did they tell you what happened to Veronica?" I asked her.

She nodded. "They killed her because they came in and asked for Mary, and she volunteered to go for her." She nodded to the girl I had been talking to. "Did she tell you anything?"

I told her what Anna had said. "What do you think she meant by 'die before you let them take you'?"

Prentiss thought about it for a moment. "She might have been saying don't let them turn you into a monster. Suzanne told me that they made her fight. That's what all the cuts and bruises are from."

"Prentiss, they're – " I was cut off by a voice that came through a speaker in the wall above me.

"Emily and Jennifer, come to the door now." We glanced at each other and rose slowly. "If you want to fight us, I'll just come in there and beat you myself."

We waited by the door reluctantly, and when they opened it, the light was almost blinding. We were each grabbed by two men who drug us unceremoniously down the hall and into a large room with a hole in the center. It was at least four feet deep, and the floor was dotted with blood. The men tossed us down a set of stairs leading down into the pit, and a door banged shut behind us.

"You two are going to fight each other. If you refuse to do it, then I'll beat you, and I'll bet I can kick harder than either one of you can." He turned around and gestured for one of the men standing behind him to come forward. "This is Connor. He thinks that JJ is going to win, while I have my money on Emily." He gave a cruel smile. "Whichever one of you loses goes to the victor, and he can then do whatever he wants with you." I realized that the only reason that he had picked Prentiss was so that she had the opportunity to win me. "Let's get this thing started!" He yelled excitedly and stepped back.

The men were yelling and Prentiss was looking at me helplessly.

"Come on Jayje. You have to win."

"Emily –"

"Yes, you have to. Think of Will and Henry."

She swung at me, but she made sure that I could easily dodge it. I ducked and sent a punch into her stomach. She grunted in pain, and then gave me a nod of encouragement. She lunged at me and I jumped back, the quickly countered with a hard kick to her side. She stumbled and I saw my opportunity. She was one of my best friends, but she was right; I needed to win. I landed on top of her and sent a punch into her nose. Blood flew, and I hesitated.

"Come on JJ." She muttered.

I slammed my fist into her face again, and she fell unconscious. I immediately got off of her, and leaned against the wall, closing my eyes. I had just beat someone into unconsciousness to save myself. I could feel the tears beginning to well in my eyes as I thought about what I had just subjected her too.

I heard feet thud beside me, and I opened my eyes to see Detective Newman and Connor had leaped into the hole with us. Detective Newman walked over to where Emily was just starting to come back into consciousness, and sent his foot flying into her chest. She groaned in pain and I heard him mumble "Bitch" under his breath. Then he turned towards me and grabbed me roughly by the upper arm. He yanked me forward with enough force to make me stumble, and dragged me up the stairs.

"That was the most pathetic fight I have ever seen." He snarled. "Next time it won't be so easy for you."

He hauled me to the room that I had started out in, and tossed me in again, and I slumped weakly to the floor by the door. I allowed myself to cry. What would the team say if they knew what I had just done? Would I ever be able to look Prentiss in the eye again?

It was about twenty minutes when the door opened again and Prentiss was tossed in. She was limp, and slid across the floor, then lay deathly still. I crawled over to her, panic rising in my chest.

I shook her gently, but got no response. "Emily!" She stirred slightly, and I almost cried in relief.

She was in bad shape. It looked like the injuries that I had given her were nothing compared to the ones she had suffered at Connor's hands. The entire left side of her face was bruised, her wrist was bent at an awkward angle, her shirt was in tatters, and between the strips of cloth I could see that her ribs were badly bruised and bleeding. And if the injuries she had sustained were anything like Kate Jackson's, I knew that he had done something worse than beating her.

I can't decide if I want Prentiss to be mad at JJ now, or have her continue to support her, so you'll have to let me know what you think.
