Ran stared ahead at the table sitting with some of the other village nin. She was always a very watchful person. Genma was in an expressive conversation with Raidou about someone's personal body parts and Kurenai was blushing while Asuma leaned closer to her. She sort of felt like the odd person out. All of these people were marginally older than she was but it would have been rude to turn down Genma's offer. She was also slightly intoxicated by this point. Her cheeks felt warm and her head was working slower than it should be. Her eyes moved languidly watching the other patrons at the table and throughout the bar's room. She yawned stretching her arm out in front of her staring at her hand. At one point it seemed close and again in the same moment it was farther away. It made her furrow her brow. Alcohol was not the fairytale cocktail that adults made it out to be. She honestly hadn't had very much so she wasn't sure why the effects were so high. Fingers brushed her ear pushing hair behind it and she flinched shifting away from the person in the booth seat. Genma tilted his head hand still outstretched in the air where she'd moved.

"You don't look so good kid."

"I don't like people touching me." Her voice seemed to move on its own accord.

"Ok." He said eyeing her. Raidou seemed to be staring at her strangely as well.

"We should take her home." He whispered to Genma.

"I can hear you." She rolled her eyes but she felt a wave roll over her head and she closed her eyes quickly.

"Yeah, home. C'mon kid. Let's go." Genma went to take her arm but somehow she sensed it.

"I said Don't Touch Me." She snapped glaring at him. He put his hands up taking a step back slightly getting up from the booth.

"Alright. Alright. Get up then…" he waited while she tried to make the room stop spinning. She took a deep breath. If she could pass the ANBU exam she could walk home. By herself. She got up to their surprise and after steadying a hand on the booth back she let go.

"Thanks for inviting me." Her voice seemed smaller this time.

"No problem kid. You sure you don't want…" she cut him off shaking her head.

"No. I'll walk home, it's fine."

The walk home was quiet. Ran was good with that. She swayed occasionally but for the most part was able to keep her line straight. The world had stopped spinning as much as earlier but her face still felt warm and flushed. It was like having a fever. She wanted to lay down and sleep. As she reached her front door her hands shook. They weren't steady anymore. That was a feeling she didn't like. She gripped the doorknob harder trying to turn it but it wouldn't move. Ran sighed putting her head against the door as a funny feeling settled against her stomach that was building in pressure. She wanted the feeling to fade but it kept building in pressure until she thought she was going to collapse. She slid down the door wrapping her arms around her stomach cringing. There was no way that alcohol had done this. She knew you could get sick but this was growing painful. She felt sweat break out one her forehead.

"You don't look so good." Genma said bending down beside her scooping her up.

"I don't li…"

"People touching you, yeah, you mentioned that about three times. Look, you're sick and I followed your butt home. I'm taking you inside kid." She couldn't make much of a struggle against his arms as he opened the door easily taking her inside. He sighed as she tried to kick him and tossed her gently onto the couch. He stared down at her as she glared up at him. Her cheeks had a high deep red flush and her body was clammy. This wasn't from being drunk. He furrowed his brows. Maybe she was having an adverse reaction to alcohol? He knew that could happen but it was rare and anyway normally it would have been accompanied by puking. She was holding her stomach as she sat up curling her knees up to her chin.

"You can go." She said looking away from him. When he didn't she leave she laid down curling up on her side squeezing her eyes shut.

"Nope. Not leaving until you're doing better." He sat on the edge of the cushion near her.

"Then please get me some water." She ground out through her teeth. "I feel like I'm going to be sick." The pain in her stomach suddenly intensified. She groaned rolling over and looked for something to grab ahold of to sit up. Genma raised an eyebrow as she opened her eyes grabbing for something. They were not their normal color. They were tinged with gold and aqua in the middle. He gripped her hand pulling her up just before he found himself thrown literally across the room. He hit the wall hard coughing and dropped to the ground winded. He got up on his knees staring at her. She was shaking where she half sat half stood wide eyed. There was a visible but transparent wall shielding her entire body about three feet away from her. That had been what had hit him.

"Oh no." she whispered her eyes meeting him across the room.

"I'm ok…but uh…what the hell is that?" he rubbed his head.

"I…Genma…You can't see this." He frowned.

"Can't see what?" he asked standing up slowly.

"THIS!" she snapped backing away from the living room almost tripping over the couch.

"Hey, wait. It's ok Ran." He put up a hand to try and comfort her.

"No! It's not! You don't understand!" she felt tears in her eyes.

"I can keep a secret." He said quickly. "Whatever this is, I won't tell anyone." She faltered stopping where she stood.

"You'd do that?" she asked. Genma nodded slowly.

"Of course."

Tsunade was checking over Ran's vitals. There had not been much of a change over the last three weeks. Sasuke and Kakashi had been trained on figuring out every single person who had been involved with Ran's attempted murder. It was a top secret mission and it was requiring time and stealth. So far Kakashi had uncovered two members who'd been directly accused and confessed to being in on the whole plan. Kakashi had also filled her in on exactly why Ran was so important and what they wanted to kill her for. They had not filled Naruto in but it was only for a need to know basis. Sakura moved a hand over the girls file glancing at the Hokage.

"Do you think she'll wake up?" she asked hesitantly.

"I hope so…but I don't understand how they kept all of this a secret." The older woman sighed.

"I'm not sure how they did that." Sakura agreed. "We will do anything we can to bring her back right?" she was worried about how this would affect Naruto.

"Of course." Tsunade replied smiling softly.
