Hermione's POV
"RON!" I yelled as I push all the people in my way. The cut on my left leg stings but I sprinted as he screamed louder. Where's Harry? What's he doing? When I shoved off the last person standing in my way, I saw Harry across me, catching his breath, just like me. I looked at him before raising my wand.
"Fiendfyre!" The caster of the crustaceous curse was covered in flames as the red light from the tip of my wand hit her on her side. The fire formed into a lion, an insane one I guess. She screamed until she could no longer produce a sound. The flames engulfed her and I smelled her flesh burning.
Through the fire, I saw that the crustaceous curse was off Ron but he was still shaking due to the curse' after effects. Then I saw Harry again, not looking at me, but at the disfigured body of the female death eater that I just killed.
"I never thought I'd see the day when you'd be persuading us to break rules." Ron said as I hand them the polyjuice potion.
What I did was more of breaking rules; it was throwing away my sane self. When Ron was surrounded with green electric light, screaming, I remembered that time when Bellatrix was scraping my forearm with the word they thought described who I was.
The smell gagged me. I want to vomit. Then a spell hit my shoulder before I could dodge it. A hiss went pass my lips as I touch my wounded shoulder with my hand. My head became fuzzy when I saw a lot of blood on my hand.
I looked up from my bloody hand and saw that something was going to hit me again, and again and again. Then battle resumed.
"HERMIONE !" Harry shouted.
Harry's voice was faint from all the loud noise in the hall. The concrete floor was pulling me down fast. My stomach twinge and I coughed up blood. My knees throbbed with the harsh contact with the floor. Then my whole body dropped to the ground while I cough, blood staining my mouth.
Black dots were filling my vision; my tears blurring.
"You know Ms. Granger, we were never meant to survive this battle."
Ms. Mcgonagall was right. We were never meant to survive this battle. I was never meant to survive this battle.
"Why did you save him Hermione? Snape's hostile towards the three of us. So why?" Ron asked when we got out of the Shrieking Shack.
"He taught me how to be brave." He showed me…
"HERMIONE !"
I blink fast to get rid of the black spots but Harry was still blurred. He dragged me towards Ron who was unconscious. But when I heard her rhythmic breathing, mine eased a bit.
"Vulnera Sanentur." Harry's voice was soft. Like a song. At first it was soothing but then my body reacted, not in a good way. I felt like vomiting again. My wounded organs was healing and sucking up my lost blood. My breathing was fast paced and labored.
When the last drop of blood came back to my system, I sat up breathing in large amount of oxygen as possible. And a ray of red light went pass my ear. Just when I thought I was saved, I heard Harry yelped in pain.
I turn to my right and saw him beside Ron.
"Oh, there you are Harry Potter." Voldemort hissed. "Don't ever turn your back on me."
My back was on him as I kneeled down to check on my best friends. My body was sore from the wounds which Harry just healed moments ago. I felt a tear trickle down my left cheek.
When will this stop?
"So what we must do was to prevent the battle from starting."
Ron stirred and saw Harry slumped, holding onto his wounded stomach; his shirt stained with blood. And he looks at my direction, on the person at my back. Voldemort.
"You loathsome evil! Bloody murderer!" He shouted.
For second there, the image of the female death eater flashed in my mind. I thought Ron was calling me a murderer. Even if he didn't, I was.
"What are you doing? Are you staying, or what?" Ron asked. He was asking me but his angered eyes stares at Harry. They're fighting. The damn, curse necklace was the cause of it. And now he's saying he's going to leave. That's not going to happen. I don't know how to answer him. Harry…
"I... Yes — yes, I'm staying. Ron, we said we'd go with Harry, we said we'd help —" Ron interrupted me.
"I get it. You choose him."
Dear God, No.
"Ron, no — please — come back, come back!"
I turn around and stood up. My head was nauseous. Ron followed suit.
"Foolish boy." Voldemort hissed as his eyes glowed red. His robes swayed in the air only existing on his place. I felt it. Some raw power radiated off him and my body responded to it. His fearful aggressiveness, I could feel it like I was infected by it.
Ron stepped in front of me and raised his right arm as if to protect me from anything from the dark lord.
I watched it. I watched Ron got hit with many spells like what happened to me earlier. He wasn't going to last. He was no good in facing him. He couldn't fight him. Voldemort was excreting so much dark power, I could almost inhale it.
"Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good is it? I've tried a few simple spells myself and they've all worked for me." I asked Harry and Ron, in the train cart.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" I yelled and pointed my wand towards, Voldemort. I felt something inside of me stirred. Like raw power extracting.
He lay down the floor; his eyes found mine. My wand slipped from my trembling hands.
Ron.
I fall on the ground; tears welled up on my eyes. My insides stirring; I couldn't breathe.
Voldemort… he… I …
"And what may I ask did I say?" I asked irritatedly.
"My name. Just my name. Like a whisper." He answered which rendered me speechless and warm.
I didn't know how but I found myself cradling Ron. I held Ron's head against my chest, looking onto his closing eyes.
Through the tears in my eyes, I could still see his face, Voldemort's face. Why does he have to be like this? What did we do to face this life? He pointed the elder wand at me ready to kill. I'm just like him, a murderer or worse. I killed my best friend.
Ron was dead... I killed Ron.
"I killed him."
When the tip of the elder wand started to glow, I didn't move. This would make me an excuse to leave this life. Dying would be my sweet escape.
I embraced Ron and cried.
We would soon see each other.
"NO! HERMIONE!"
Harry. I couldn't look at him. I felt guilty. I killed our best friend!
"Sectumsempra!" Harry yelled. Voldemort dodged it and a one on one battle begun. They were radiating too much power. I squinted as the light from their wands was bright.
"This is pitiful." Voldemort said. "This doesn't worth my time."
Then with a single flick of his wand, a green light came out from the tip of his wand.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!"
Not again. I left Ron on the floor to save Harry. I was sure it was to save him but also I know it was to somehow wash away my sin for killing Ron. I couldn't do anything but to block the curse. I stood up and closed my eyes.
After a few seconds, I could still feel my blood running through my veins and my heart beating. I opened my eyes and saw Ginny lying down on the floor dead. Ron was there too.
"GINNY!"
It was Mrs. Weasley who shouted. Harry was dumb founded and couldn't move a finger. Molly ran towards us. Professor Mcgonagall and other members of the Order run behind her and Molly. Voldemort got caught up with the other members of the Order.
Ginny. Ron.
When I looked up and saw a death eater, without any hesitation I sent his way the killing curse. Not only to him but also the next one I saw. I sprinted and shot the other one, and the next and the next.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" When my target drop to the ground, I saw Molly was there. My breath hitched for a moment and then all of the faces I just killed when flooding in, including Ron, and when I saw Ginny's face in my mind, my knees drop.
"My dear," Molly approached me. I know she was about to cry and it was tearing me to pieces.
"Don't touch me!" I hissed at her but then realized I was not thinking straight. "I'm sorry." About killing Ron… about Ginny…
"Stupefy!" Molly fired at me, no, behind me. And when I turn I saw Bellatrix turning into ash. "Not her, you bitch!"
Guilt bubbled up on the pit of my stomach. I stood up and threw myself at Molly and cried, while consistently saying "I'm sorry," She patted my back and through my blurred vision and Molly's ginger hair, I saw Draco.
He was so far across from where I stand.
"Let's go."
I hear him in my mind. Then I panicked and put my guards up higher and higher. He can search through my thoughts. He could see how I killed those people.
"Hermione, dear…"
Molly's voice faded as I run around, finding where Harry was. Draco's voice registered on my ear.
"Potter! Get your brain out of your arse and move!" Draco shouted as she threw a hex at a death eater. He's one of us now. Harry spaced out while looking at Ginny's dead body. Was he like this the entire time?
That means I was the only one who went and had a killing spree.
"Granger! Levitate him or something but just move. We've got to go to the astronomy tower." Around us was chaotic, like how my mind was. I couldn't think straight at the moment but I managed to pull Harry and dragged him out of the hall.
I screamed when a hex was thrown at my left leg and made a large wound which run from my thigh to under my knee. Draco cursed and sent a spell to my attacker. He reached out for my arm and helped me run.
He looked behind us and told Harry, "Get going!"
Seeing my wound made him realize what was happening and run beside we reached the Astronomy tower, Draco revealed me the time turner and pulled Harry's arm. Harry collapsed beside me. Draco placed the necklace over the three of us and said, "Recite the incantation."
My mind stopped working. Should we do this? Ron and Ginny were dead.
When I looked at Harry in the eye, I knew the answer.
We will go back to change their future, to change our future. Their death would be the point changing the future. They will live.
I recited the words even though I only heard it once. But Harry struggled to recite.
"Mcgonagall said that someone should throw us the accio spell. It will bring us to the time we think of. So think of September 1, 1943 Hogwarts. Repeat the incantation." Draco explained.
"I mark the hours, every one," Someone emerged from the shadows. I stood up, alert. But Draco continued so Harry and I copied him. "nor have I yet outrun the Sun." Two familiar person came into view, Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy. "My use and value, unto you, are gauged by what you have to do."
'September 1, 1943, Hogwarts.'
"Do your best Draco." Narcissa said. "We love you."
"ACCIO!" Lucius yelled.
As the spell reached us, I felt someone stroking my back. And it lulled me to sleep.
Thanks for reading this Harry Potter fanfiction. I revised this story for how many times already. But yeah, this will be the last time, I think. I just revised the words I used the scenes which were lacking.
Thanks again!
The next chapter will be uploaded after a week or less. Thanks.
