Epilogue

La da da da da… la da da… La da da da da… la da da…

Relatia hummed the nostalgic tune as she travelled along the pathway between dimensions. She skimmed the surface of the space-time streams with her elegant fingers, simultaneously enjoying the cool sensation and reassuring herself that things were flowing properly. Whenever she hit a too-warm spot she would stop tug at the minor distortions of space or twist the time discrepancies until things flowed smoothly again.

If anyone had been watching her, they would have thought that she was completely relaxed and at ease. This was not so, however, as she had to be constantly alert and ready to duck, swerve, or dodge to avoid coming into contact with stray travelers. Not that there were ever many, mind you, considering that most of the traffic that took place between dimensions consisted of past, future, or parallel versions of herself, but sometimes—especially when it came to these particular paths—she ran into surprises.

This was the case when the goddess had to hurriedly leap out of the way to avoid being bowled over by the blurry, shadow-like figure barreling in her direction with seemingly no regard for its—his?—surroundings. Once she had righted herself, she scowled at the being's rudeness… but her displeasure quickly evaporated into surprise when she finally got a closer look and recognized who it was. That surprise then quickly changed back over into fury.

"You!" she yelled, her tone dripping with reprimand, as she switched directions and attempted to catch up with him. "There you are! I've been looking for you!"

The being didn't slow down, but he did look back briefly to give her a curt nod of acknowledgement before saying, "My apologies, dear goddess, but I can't stop to chat now. There is a grave injustice I need to correct."

With that, he doubled his speed and shot off. Relatia's fury cooled minutely and she slowed to a halt. She dipped her entire hand into the space-time streams beside her and, after a moment's examination, she sighed, shrugged, and turned back around, resuming her journey home. Given what the space-time streams had revealed to her, whatever he was planning to do was apparently more or less innocuous. She could see no major fallouts from it, at any rate, so she let it be. Besides, from what she had managed to glean, he wasn't lying about his plans to fix his injustice, so further action from her was not needed. She did make a mental note to give her Rainbow Child another visit when it was all over, though. Just in case.

"But for now," she thought to herself, "I shall leave her to her adventures."

She smiled playfully before restarting her humming refrain.

La da da da da… la da da… La da da da da… la da da…

END OF PART ONE

A/N: …Wow. I know it's been a few years in coming, but it's still hard to believe that part 1 is over. This was the first multi-chaptered story I've ever finished and put up for public viewing, you know? I sure learned a lot along the way.

One of the things I learned was that it's probably better to have the whole story, or at least most of the whole story, all finished and typed up before you start posting… so, for those of you who are eagerly awaiting part 2, I'm afraid I have some bad news: While I have most of the story planned out, I only have a little of it already written, so there's going to be a bit of a wait before it's posted. I don't know how long that wait will be… but I assure you that it will get put out eventually! I hope you can all be patient with me until then. I'll make sure to put an alert on this story when the first chapter of part 2 is out.

But I won't leave you completely in the dark! On my profile page is a link to my askblog, where I will periodically post sneak peeks, previews, and character bios for this universe! Please feel free to stop by and ask me a question or two! My characters are ready to answer!

There's also a poll up about my story First Impressions that I would love for you to check out.
