Alright so here's that part two of the au as promised! (For some reason writing about these two as teenagers is really hard, maybe for the lack of murder?) And of course as usual it was pointed it to me that I wrote a medical procedure incorrectly, namely nosebleed care. Apparently tilting your head back will cause you to vomit blood but oh well that's how I wrote it.
Sorry updates have been slow but hey, I passed my math final so I assure you it was time well spent.
Also. If anyone else has just seen His Last Vow, I think we're all in need of a shock blanket.
John and Sherlock's friendship was something of a spectacle at school. Of course while Sherlock seemed to not be bothered, John tended to have...well...protestations.
"I'm really not gay!" John insisted, but Jessica just shook her head and giggled, before walking off to join her friends. John growled in frustration. Just being friends with Sherlock had the whole school convinced that the two of them were shagging between classes. Though John certainly didn't need all the girls in school (especially the ones he was trying to hit on like Jessica) thinking that he had a thing for the odd scrawny freshman, it didn't stop him from openly being friendly to him. In fact first thing he did after Jessica shot him down was to go meet up with Sherlock at his locker like they always did when class let out.
Most kids didn't use their lockers often, but Sherlock had packed his with various stolen equipment from school labs, books, journals, and even a skull that John suspected was from the decapitated skeleton in the health classroom. At this moment Sherlock appeared to be attempting to close the locker, which proved difficult when most of its contents were trying to spill out into the hallway.
"Sherlock you gotta clean this out." John sighed, helping the pale teenager slam the locker shut. Sherlock ruffled his hair and picked his backpack up off the ground, slinging it carelessly over his shoulder.
"I don't have anywhere else to keep my equipment. My parents confiscated my home lab." He replied curtly.
John decided not to point out that Sherlock's parents had only confiscated the bunsen burners and test tubes because someone had decided to convert the chemistry set into a drug lab. Though he frowned thinking about it.
"So she said no?" Sherlock commented casually. John didn't even blink twice, he was used to Sherlock's deductions by now.
"Alright, how did you know that?" He asked curiously if not with a bit of frustration.
"Doesn't matter." Sherlock said without conviction. That caused John to frown deeper, Sherlock loved rubbing his answer in people's faces, loved to show exactly how he made the connection between the mud on their shoes and their wife's affair. Something was definitely up with him.
"Sherlock..." John whispered. He thought he knew what was up, and he didn't want people overhearing in case Sherlock got embarrassed. "Has that arse Sean been messing with you again?"
"It's none of your business!" Sherlock snapped, his eyes growing dark with anger. "I can take care of myself, John!"
"I don't doubt it." John nodded seriously. "But that doesn't mean you have to."
Sherlock stared at his feet for awhile, and when he looked back up John was surprised to see the anger in his eyes had vanished.
"Why do you associate with me?" Sherlock asked, his voice drained of it's usual cockiness. "People say I'm a freak. Or an arsehole."
"I don't care what people say." John shrugged. "I know you. You're not a freak. You're just an arsehole."
The two boys chuckled for a bit and then Sherlock readdressed the issue.
"You say you don't care what people say, but the rumors of our supposed relationship bother you." He pointed out.
"They don't bother me that much." John blushed and stammered.
"Are you sure?" Sherlock asked quietly, looking thoughtful.
"Yeah. I'm sure." John nodded. "And look if Sean or anyone else calls you a freak again or even lays a hand on you, I'll break their nose."
Sherlock regarded John curiously and then suddenly pressed a kiss to the older boy's cheek. John blinked, surprised for two reasons. Surprised that Sherlock had kissed him and surprised that he had liked it.
"Have you heard a lot of rumors about us lately?" Sherlock asked coyly.
"Yeah." John replied, uncertain of where this was going.
"Want to start some more?"
"Oh god yes."
