Tamaki was released from the hospital the next day. His father wanted to convince his mother to let him move back to the main estate, but Tamaki refused. He found he was much happier at the second residence, with Jima-san and the rest of the staff. They were like a second family to him. He didn't return to school for a while, per doctor's orders. When he finally did come back, the host club had a surprise waiting for him.
"Where are we going?" He asked giggling. He moved his hand from his blindfold and attempted to feel for his surroundings.
"We're here!" Hikaru and Kaoru chimed. "Mori, you may now remove his blindfold."
Tamaki felt the fabric leave his face and opened his eyes to a garden with irises, white roses, and baby tulips flourishing in all directions. In the center stood a large cherry blossom tree in full bloom, its petals floating in the wind.
"What is all this?" Tamaki asked breathlessly. The host club smiled.
"Look under the tree," was all Kyouya said. The prince walked towards the cherry blossom and peered down. Surrounded by roots and pink petals was a silver plaque that read: This garden is dedicated to Anne Sophia. May we find beauty and love in everything that surrounds us as she had.
"How did you..."
"Renge made a donation to build this garden." Renge nervously stepped out of Kyouya's shadow.
"Tamaki-sempai...I..."
"Thank you," Tamaki smiled, his wet eyes glistening in the sun.
"Since you couldn't go visit your mom's grave, is there something you would like to say to her here?" Haruhi asked.
Tamaki blinked in surprise, unsure of what exactly he wanted to say. Even so, he cleared his throat and began to speak.
"Hey mom," his voice cracked nervously, "I'm sorry I didn't visit you when I had the chance. Three years seems like such a long time now..." He paused, feeling the emotion overwhelm him. "Dad and I miss you everyday, it's hard but we'll be okay. I wish you could've come to Japan and meet my friends. You would've liked them. They're the reason I can smile again. Wherever you are, I'm sure you're happy. Please watch over me...I love you."
He got up slowly and nodded to his friends that he was ready to leave. The group smiled as one by one, they turned to walk to the school, leaving Haruhi and Tamaki alone in the garden.
"Haruhi?" he asked, tugging her uniform sleeve. She turned to face him. "Is it alright if I come along the next time you go see your mom."
She smiled gently. "Yeah, you can come too." They walked back, leaving behind the petals dancing in the wind. The petals that fell but rose once more, just like Tamaki did.
