Journey to High Hrothgar!

The next day; 8:30 am

"Glacier, come on down! We have to get to the Greybeards before nightfall!" Marine called as she waited for Lucia to finish eating Marine's homemade scrambled eggs and cheese.

"Marine," said Glacier as she came running down the ladder. "you don't have to yell at me to hurry you know. And I was upstairs getting some equipment for the trip!

"Who's going to watch over me while you're gone?" Lucia asked as she was done eating her eggs and cheese.

"I already asked Ysolda to check up on you from time to time or if you need something like food and clothes."

"Okay. Can I send you letters to tell you how everything's going?"

"Yes you can!" Marine answered for her twin. "Will bring you back some presents on our journey so that you won't have to wear the same thing all the time!"

A wide smile appeared on Lucia's face.

"Thank you!" the little girl ran toward the older girls and hugged them.

They also hugged her back before departing. The front door to Breezehome opened and in came Lydia. She had a bag full of supplies; such as bed rolls, a tent, pots and pans, health potions, magicka potions, stamina potions, food and ale, and enchanted items.

"My Thanes, I have the items you required me to retrieve." Lydia announced while placing the bag on the floor.

The twins went through the bag and gathered the items desperately between themselves and Lydia. Once they were done packing, someone outside was knocking on the door. Marine went to the door and opened it, behind it was Ysolda.

"Hello Ysolda!" Marine greeted with a smile.

"Hello Glacier! I like to thank you again for getting that Hagraven out my house. And I am much honored to watch over Lucia while you're gone." Marine keep the smile on her face despite the fact Ysolda mistook her for Glacier.

"That's very kind of you to say that, but um...I'm not Glacier. I'm Marine, her twin cousin." Ysolda's mouth became agape with embarrassment.

"I am sorry, I didn't know. She never told she had a relative."

"You didn't say!" Glacier ran to the ladies.

"Ysolda, I'm Glacier. Lucia will be pleased with you!"

"Hahaha, I hope so."

"Hey Glaze, we got to go!" Marine said.

"Guess we're leaving. Bye Lucia, be good okay."

"I will!" Lucia replied.

"Bye Lucia, bye Ysolda!" Marine spoke before walking out the door with Lydia and Glacier behind. "Onward, to High Hrothgar!"

The trio marched out of Whiterun's gates and down the road. On the way down, they passed by a Khajiit caravan outside the walls. Glacier's aquatic eyes stared at the cat-like people with fascination; she'd never thought to see this sort of race here in Skyrim.

"Marine," Her cousin looked back at her. "who are those walking animal at the cavern over there?"

She pointed toward the caravan with five Khajiits around, it seemed like they were making camp.

"Khajiits."

"Excuse me?"

"Khajiits, that's the name of their race. They're people that look like grown up Hello Kitties."

"Okay, but why are they outside the walls?"

"Cause they're not allowed inside." Glacier blinked twice at her, Marine sighed. "They can't come in because of the Civil War between Empire and the Stormcloaks. Which I will explain another time, right now let's get some horses and be on our way."

The ladies made their way to the Whiterun stables and bought two mares. One horse is dark brown with a long black mane, as the other is white mare with a long gray mane.

"I call the black horse!" Marine called.

"Then that leaves me with Suzy." Marine and Lydia tilted their heads at her.

"Um, who's Suzy?" Lydia asked her.

"My horse."

"Where did that name come from?"

"Suzy Snowflake. Because Suzy is white and gray like snow." Suzy nuzzled her snout in Glacier's hair, liking her new name.

"That is so... fucking stupid!" Marine laughed.

"Oh yeah, well what's the name of your horse, Mar?"

"Dark Storm!"

Glacier's mouth ajar as her eyebrows jointed. Lydia just blinked at her.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes!"

"What fucking name is that? That's not even a proper name."

"First off, horses do not need to have a 'proper name'. Second, it's an awesome name! Unlike Shitty Suzy!" She exclaims.

"Y-You know what, let's just drop this subject and get to..."

"Ivarstead."

"Correct."

Marine rubbed her mare on the snout before walking to the carriage. The carriage rider asked her where to go, she said Ivarstead. She then gave him 50 septims for the trip. Glacier and Lydia brought the horse to the coach before tying the rims to the side of it. The trio jumped into the back and sat down in their seats. The rider whipped the rims to the mare for it to move, which it did.

As they were traveling on the road, Glacier was reading a tome of restoration to learn the arts of healing. While Marine was watching 'Everybody Loves Raymond' on her portable phone and laughing to herself. Lydia heard the giggling coming from her Thane and was curious to what she was doing, but as she did, Lydia saw Marine laughing at an uncanny rectangle that had movable supernatural people inside.

"My Thane?" She says to her.

"What?" Marine replied, not taking her eyes off her phone. "Hahahahaha!"

"What is that?"

"What's what?"

"That...thing you're viewing. What is it?"

Marine looked at Lydia awestruck at what she's asking. She mentally cursed herself for not being cautious to hide her phone from her. She quickly thought of an answer before talking.

"This...is uh...special rectangle. That...lets you see people...on the other side."

Lydia tilted her head.

"You mean like the dead?"

"Yes, we can see the dead in this thing, except they have skin and can talk like regular Nords."

"Wow, how was Hammerfell able to make this?"

"Um...they-" Her lie was cut short as the carriage came to a sudden stop.

The logical girl, Glacier, looked up from her tome confused to why the cart a stopped. Closing her book, she tilted her body out the cart to see the driver talking to a black woman in fur armor. Half of her brain was telling Glacier to get involved with the conversation, however the other half was telling her to stay out of it and sit down. Curiosity got the best of her as she went over the two adults.

"Hey! This here is a toll see! You have to pay to get through!" The lady says to the driver.

"How much are you asking ma'am?" inquires the young Dragonborn.

"250 septeims each person." the bandit bargains.

"120 each person." Glacier offered. Everyone looked at her with surprise.

"No way! 250 is the bargain for the toll! Pay up!"

"Fine, we'll give 250 septeims." the lady smiled thinking that she won her pay, but Glacier was way ahead in this 'game'. "And to think if we gave 120 septims each you would've had more money in your pockets."

This caught the bandit's undivided attention.

"What the hell are you saying?" She inquires the light blue eyed girl.

"Basically I'm saying is 120 from each person is a lot of money to earn. Since there are 4 persons in the lone cart and paying you 120 septeims from each is a total 480 septeims. Which is more than 250." the bandit eyes widen with interest before listen more to the girl. "And items from towns these days cost so much, 200 to 500 septeims today. But if you want 250 septeims we'll hand-"

"120 each!" she shouts.

"Are you sure?"

"The hell I am! Give the money, 480 septeims would just fine."

"Alright ma'am, nice doing business with ya." Glacier says.

Everyone paid the lady 120 septeims each, except the driver because Glacier offered to pay for him. Once the toll was paid, they continued their voyage to Ivarstead. As they were traveling via the forest, the driver turned his head to look at Glacier, who was reading her book.

"Hey girl." They three females looked at the man, confused to who she was referring to.

"Which one are you asking for?" inquired Lydia.

"The girl who made the bargain with that bandit back there." He exclaimed.

"My name is Glacier, sir." She presented.

"Glacier. That's a very uncommon name here in Skyrim." the driver's says. "But that's not what I was going to say to you. Are you a member of the Thieves Guild, Glacier?"

Glacier tilted her head in confusion.

"Thieves Guild?" She questions.

"You never heard of the Thieves Guild?" Glacier nodded her head. "It's a Guild in Riften where thieves gather together and steal valuable items from major cities here. I thought to ask you this because thieves can be very persuasive, and by the way you persuaded the lady to lower the price I thought you were one of them."

"Well I'm no thief, sir. Basically, I was using common logic with a hint persuasiveness to get us out of pay so big."

"Either way, that was very cunning." the driver complimented.

"Yeah, that's Glaze for ya." Marine intervened into the conversation.

"My Thane, you still haven't told how Hammerfell made that special rectangle." Lydia said.

"How long till we get to Ivarstead." Marine changed the subject.

"I'd say before mid afternoon, young lady."

"The names Marine, mister." She introduced herself.

"Marine. Another uncommon name not heard in Skyrim." He laughed before facing the road ahead. "By the way, the name is Bjarlam if you were wondering."

After a few moments of silence, everyone went back to doing their own thing while waiting to arrive in Ivarstead.

5 hours later; 2:15pm

"Aghhh...are we there yet?!" Marine whined for the forty-fifth time today.

"I don't know, Marine." Glacier answered with irritation.

"Bjarlam, are we at least close to Ivarstead? Please say yes!"

"No we're not close to Ivarstead." He says to the gaga twin as she cried. "Because we're in Ivarstead."

'If this was ever a cartoon, I would hear a low drum pound in the background right now.' Glacier cogitated.

Marine sat frozen for a good minute or two before jumping out of the carriage and sprinting into Vilemyr Inn. Glacier, along with Lydia, were the last to exit the cart. They said their goodbyes to Bjarlam before walking after Mar. However, a conversation reached into Glacier ears and caught her attention. She looked over at the Nord and the Wood Elf near the bridge to the 7,000 steps. Glacier ordered her housecarl to check up on her twin, which she obeyed.

'What are those men talking about?' She thought, walking over to the two males.

But as she got to them the conversation was over and the Wood Elf left the middle aged Nord to himself. The poor man let a soft sigh out of his mouth before he realized that Glacier was standing by him.

"Is something the matter, sir?" Glacier asks kindly.

"No, nothing really. I was just about to bring a delivery to High Hrothgar, is all." he tells her.

"You're heading to High Hrothgar?" He nods yes. "So are we."

The Nord raised an eyebrow at her.

"We?"

"Yes, we. My cousin, housecarl, and I are venturing to High Hrothgar too."

"Humm, well good for you guys."

"What type of conveyances were you going to supply them?"

"Salted meat and fish, you know to keep them fresh. The Greybeards don't tend to get out much."

"They pay you to gather them food?"

"No, they don't pay me. It's actually an understanding between us. I mean it won't feel right to charge them for every delivery they get."

"Absolutely."

"The problem is my legs aren't what they use to be, climbing 7,000 steps and the road is very dangerous."

Glacier pondered for a moment before an idea popped to her cranium.

"Sir, my companions and I would be more than helpful to take your deliveries to them."

"Really, that's kind of you." Then he pulled out a bag of supplies and placed them in her hands. "Here take these to the monastery on your way there. They have an offering chest outside, so place them inside once you get there. Another thing, you need to watch out for the wild animals up there and your footing. In these wintery conditions the steps are slippery and treacherous, so watch yourself." He warns her.

"Thank you, sir." She says and the man smirks at her.

"The name's Klimmek, not sir." Klimmek introduced.

"Glacier, it was nice to meet you." She walks away from Klimmek and into the Inn.

Once inside, she witness Lydia and Marine sitting at a picnic table eating and drinking. Marine was gabbling food into her mouth like a whale, while Lydia sipped on her mug like a normal person would. Glacier made her way over to the two before placing herself on Marine's right side. The other twin continued to gobble her food for two minutes till she saw Glacier sitting next to her.

"What's up?" Marine said to her twin.

Glacier rolled her eyes before taking a sweetroll into her mouth and ate silently.

One hour later- The 7,000 steps

The trio were now climbing up the snow covered stone steps up the mountain, to reach the Greybeards monastery. Marine and Glacier keep a sharp eye out for any wolves or other animals that might try to onrush them. As they continued onward on the natural elevation, Glacier was taking snapshots of the emblems on her portable phone without anyone looking. Not even her cousin noticed her. They pasted by a pilgrim, Barknar, who was meditating at one of the emblems. He warned them to watch out for wolves and they thanked him for the warning.

Hours and minutes has pasted and it felt like an eternity to them. The once clear blue sky was now painted a reddish-orange like flames in the sun. Two wolves have been slain by Glacier's frostbite spell and Lydia's sword as Marine waited up on the summit for the two ladies.

"Took you two long enough!" Marine says.

"You could've helped, Thane Marine." Lydia suggested.

"Yeah, but I didn't."

"Let's get going. It's getting dark and a blizzard is going to be kicking in like daddy bull at Texas rodeo" Glacier exclaimed. Lydia and Marine shot her some odd looks.

"Bonanza is starting to get to you." Marine proclaims.

"What's Bonanza?" Lydia queries.

"Nothing. We need to hurry to High Hrothgar this instant. I'm getting hungry."

"Then what are we doing sitting around here for, let's go." Glacier advocated.

They did as she commanded and made their way through the heavy snow. The bouldery stairs were showing out of the snow, helping them get to the monastery. The blizzard blew harder as time passed by, and the dark silk cloth covered the sky.

"How-How cl-close are we to-to High Hr-Hrothgar?" Glacier asked through her clattering teeth.

"We're al-almost there, j-just ne-need to go into that trench an-and down the pathway." Mar explained.

They walked into the trench like she instructed for while. When Marine suddenly realized they would have to face the frost troll. She looked up at the trenches and to her demise the frost troll was t the end of the trench. It fell off the rock onto the snow below and charged at them.

"I got this, my thanes!" the Nordic housecarl told them before attacking the troll with her sword and shield. But to her misfortune, the troll had the stronger hold in this battle.

"I'll go help her out! Glaze, stay here!" Marine prepared her steel sword and ran toward the troll.

The giant beast swung his massive arms at her as she came closer, but she dodged them and cut its chest with her swords. The monster growled in pain and was angered by the attack. Its left arm swung at her to hit her face. She stumbled back a bit but got back up; however, the troll was quick to slam her to the ground before she had time to recover. Mar fell to face first into the hard icy ground, blood spilled from her skull onto the ice painting it pink. She tried to get back up, but the pain in her head was pounding inside like a drum. The Frost troll marched over to the bleeding girl, ready to knock her lights out, till suddenly…

"Fus!" the troll was knocked back into the rocks by Glacier's Thu'um.

With no hesitation, Glacier sprinted toward Marine's body and through her on her shoulder. Lydia ran toward the young girl and waited for a command.

"We have to go, now!" Glacier said. "That troll is too strong and Marine's head is spilling blood."

"Right behind you, my Thane!" Lydia replied.

The two females quickly made their way into the trench to the other side and down the stairs. They continued to run until the spotted the monetary a few feet away.

"Good we're almost there. And not a moment to lose."

"Glacier, we have a problem coming our way!" Lydia warned.

She turned her head to see what she meant by it, and regretted looking back. The Frost troll from earlier was following behind them and was catching up fast.

"Run!" Glacier demanded.

They ran as fast as they could, while the troll was following. High Hrothgar was in their reach and the supply chest was out front. Glacier and Lydia ran up the steps to the chest, Glacier removed her twin from her shoulders into Lydia's arms.

"Get her inside and tell them she needs treatment. I have to place something in the chest before going inside." Lydia made haste inside the monetary with Marine in her arms.

Glacier went into the empty chest and placed Klimmek's bag inside before closing it. When she was about to run to the doors, her person was slammed into the stone steps below her. What was the cause of this? The Frost Troll. It roared and stomped on the platform like a ritual dance to God.

The thirteen year old tried to move away from the monster, but the beast had other plans. It grabbed the girl by the head and through her to a flight of stairs. She moaned in pain when her body collided with the stairs. Blood dripped out on her lips as the pain raced in her body. The troll came up behind her to smash its fist into her back. The girl screamed in pain and agony as the salty tears ran down her face. The beast roared in victory watching the little human squirm, one more hit and she be done for. Glacier shut her eyes and waited for more pain to come, until the doors swung open and the unpredictable happened.

"Fus…Ra Dah!" An unknown Thu'um clashed with her beast sending it away from Glacier and off the mountain.

Darkness began to cloud Glacier's vision as she turn onto her back. She cried out in pain, her body aching with displeasure. The darkness increased into her eyesight while the snow cuddled her frozen face. She let the darkness consume her vision, not listening to the footsteps behind her. The last thing she saw before passing out was a man in a dark grey cloak and long grey beard standing above her.

The elder of the Greybeards carefully picked the girl into his arms, before walking back into his home where the others await him.
