Now onto chapter…16? Yeah 16.
Forget the pain, get Stronger
Marine's POV
"No…No No No…No No NO! Ahhh!" I screamed as I shot out off my bed huffing and puffing with sweat running down my face. "Damn stupid nightmare."
I craned my head to the other guild member to find there weren't that many in here; Mercer and Rune were the only ones present. Oh man, this is gonna be bad for me. I rubbed my face with my hands to get the sweat off me before getting off the bed. As I was making my way to the cooking pot while avoiding the two men, my IPhone vibrated in my pants; good thing I put it on silent or that would have been bad.
I got out my phone and check the caller id, it was Glacier. I quickly climbed up the ladder to the secret passage before answering the phone.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey Marine, it's me." Glacier said through the phone.
"Me who?" I asked.
"Marine, you know it's me!" She said.
"Me who?!"
"Marine…Glacier, it's me Glacier?!"
"That's better, now what is it?"
"I finished the assignment Lady Black-Briar gave us, well me anyway."
"Lady Black-Briar? Really?" I sighed. "Nevermind, so you claimed Honningbrew Meadery for Maven, killed the rats and the lunatic, and got the information for her."
"Yes."
"Are you heading back to Riften?"
"No, I'm staying in Whiterun for a few days. I sent a courier to you with the Intel for Maven." She informed me.
"Okay, bye." I said before I hung up on her.
"Wait, Marine!" She called out.
"What?"
"Are you…are you feeling okay? You didn't feel or act like yourself after we left the Estate."
"I'm fine." I replied lowly.
"What happened, Marine? And don't say it's nothing because it is something when you don't act like yourself!"
"Fine, but when I tell you don't freak or say this to anybody!" The last thing I need is everybody in my business.
"I won't tell" I hear something in the background and Glacier say 'Let me do something real quick'. "Tell me fast because I told Lucia I teach her archery today."
"Before you can to my rescue a group of mercenaries were about to…to have their way with me." I almost threw up at the image in my head.
Glacier was silent on the other end before she spoke again.
"I'm so sorry, Marine. Do you still think back to it?"
"Yeah."
"Well there is something you can listen to in order not think about."
"What?"
"Play the songs 'Stronger' by Brittany Spears on your phone and sing the lyrics. It will encourage you to forget the pain you been through. That's what my mom and dad say to do and it works every time."
"I'll try it thanks." I ended the call then did what she told me to do.
The first I played was 'Stronger' by Brittany Spears on my phone and then sang along with it.
Hush, just stop
There's nothing you can do or say, baby
I've had enough
I'm not your property as from today, baby
You might think that I won't make it on my own
But now I'm…
Stronger than yesterday
Now it's nothing but my way
My loneliness ain't killing me no more
I'm stronger
That I ever thought that I could be, baby
I used to go with the flow
Didn't really care 'bout me
You might think that I can't take it, but you're wrong
'Cause now I'm…Stronger!
After I was done singing the whole song I feel better and not so depressed anymore. And you know what, despite almost getting raped by those bastards I've realized that I shouldn't be mad because it build my muscle and I feel stronger than ever. Thanks Glacier, who is in Whiterun doing shit I might not care about, you're the best.
"Okay time to get out of the passage." I said as I pulled the chain that opened the secret door-floor-thing.
But once I got out a courier approached me.
"I've been looking for you." He told me.
'Thanks for doing that." I replied to him.
"Here you go." The courier handed me the information for Maven Bitch-Briar.
After he gave me the info, I ran my ass to the inn to give Maven the information. When I was in the tavern I went up the ladder to Maven, who was standing by the table. Maven saw me approach her and greeted me with her original frown.
"I trust that you have news for me, correct?" She asked me.
"Uh…yeah, my cousin completed the job and sent the information to me to give to you." I gave Maven the information about the 'secret' partner.
Her dark eyes scanned over the parchment for a few seconds before talking again.
"This doesn't tell me much, but the only thing about Sabjorn's partner is this odd symbol."
"Yeah, Glacier and I saw that symbol before." I stated.
"Well, whatever this marking represents they will regret starting a war with me!" She growled. "Give this information to the Thieves Guild immediately! Oh, and here is your payment for your…assistance in giving me this information."
She gave the paper back to me before heading toward the ladder. I did the same, but I mentally groaned knowing I have to go back to guild and report this shit. The only thing they'll do is send me to Solitude to get more info from that Argonian, Gulum-Ei. Not only that, but I have to talk with that treacherous bastard, Mercer Fray.
"Man, Glacier must be having a rollicking good time in Whiterun. Wait, I don't even know what that word means! Whatever, don't care." I told myself before exiting the inn and back to the Thieves Guild.
Glacier's POV
After I hanged up my phone, I walked out of my room to meet Lucia and Lydia in the living room. Lucia ran up to me with enthusiasm in her brown eyes.
"Are we about to leave now, Glacier?" Lucia asked me.
"Yes we are. Got your bow and arrow with you?" I asked.
"I have them, my Thane. I'll carry them until were out on the field." Lydia spoke.
"Thank you, Lydia. Let's go!" I took hold of Lucia's hand and went out of the house to the wilderness.
Once we were outside Whiterun's colossal walls, Lucia ran on ahead to look for wild animals to hunt. I ran after her to make sure she doesn't get attacked by wolves or any other perilous animals in Skyrim. Fortunately she didn't run far and was pointing at the elk standing in the road.
"Glacier, look an elk!" She said in excitement. "Are we going to hunt it?"
"Yes, but first we have stay low and quite so that it doesn't detect our presence." I said.
Lucia nodded at me then crouched into the tall grass. Lydia and I did the same, but not before handing me Lucia's bow and arrows. I gave the items to the little girl before giving her more instructions.
"Lucia put your weapon into position." She did. "Now aim at the elk." She followed, but her aim was off by much.
"Like this?"
"Almost, your aim is a little off. Here let me help you."
I moved her arms to the position indicated.
"Move to the left. A little higher. Now to the-"
Before I could finish, Lucia released the iron arrow at the elk and missed. The harmless mammal was now alarmed by the arrow and our presence that it ran off into the slope of the mountain.
"I'm sorry, my figures were hurting from holding the arrow for so long and my hand was shaking. I'm sorry I didn't do well, Glacier."
I placed my hand on her shoulder and gave her a warm smile.
"There's no need to apologize, Lucia. It's okay to fell that kind of exhaustion one in a while, and besides everyone didn't have that good experience in their younger lives. Right, Lydia." I turned to Lydia to join in on the conversation.
"She is right; everyone made mistakes in their younger life time. When was a little girl like you my father would take me to the wood for sword training. I nearly cut his hair off from swing it too fast." Lucia and I laughed at that. "But after that my father said I need a lot more training if I want to be a strong warrior one day, and that's what I did trained none stop till my heart's content."
Wow, that was very moving and touching.
"See, it is okay to make mistakes one in a while because it makes you become a better person." I emphasized.
"Hahaha, I guess you're right. Glacier, I going to train real hard so that I can become a strong warrior like you and Lydia." She hugged me and Lydia.
"Good to hear, because…" Then I started to sing the Kelly Clarkson song.
What doesn't kill you makes you…stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone
What doesn't kill you makes you
Stronger! Stronger!
Just me, myself, and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone!
I ran back to Whiterun while singing the song. Lucia and Lydia followed behind me, laughing and smiling as they listened to my singing. And throughout the whole day; is training, conversations, and…Lucia asking me to sing the song millions of times.
