a/n: I have been so busy it's crazy! I was out of town for two weeks, and this chapter is crazy short because I didn't have time. It's also not beta-ed because I wanted to give something to you. So here it is!

I hope to see more of you review, I got lots of follows and favorites but only two reviews! Please tell me what you think, it really helps me fix my mistakes. (or just improves my day)

Lucy's Mother taught her that you never should go down without a fight. She had said that on her deathbed, face pale and sickly, eyes brown and wide, pleading as if worried her daughter would die without struggle. You couldn't forget the last words your Mother said to you, especially that once the words had left her lips, the light in her eyes had faded, and her deep breathing had stilled.

"Never go down without a fight my beautiful girl, be my warrior." Of course Lucy had thought she was talking about her Father, and how that one she would finally stand up to the man that had oppressed her for so long. It made all logical sense. Her mother wanted her to escape from the tyrant that was her Father.

Now she could see that those words would mean something else in her life entirely.

They had been woken up from slumber by the loud insistent ringing of a fire alarm. They were getting in line, ready to peacefully exit the building when the intercom came on, assuring everyone that it was just some idiot that pulled the alarm. They had all relaxed, the alarms had gone silent, and they could go back to bed—

The alarms were ringing once more. Lucy opened her eyes again, her back aching as she attempted to sit up. She had been slammed against the wall by some strange looking man, black spiky hair, clothes fit for a rather pompous girl, black lipstick. He seemed to be enjoying her pain as he beat her up again and again.

She wasn't going to give without a fight. She wasn't going to die without saying goodbye to Natsu.

She raised her hands in a weak defense position, determined to hold him off for as long as she could. The man, she had heard others call him Midnight advanced on her once more, a devilish grin filling his face.

"Just a little bit more," he snarled and then—

He was blasted backwards by a flash of golden light. Blinking rapidly, Lucy looked up at her savior, who was now extending a hand down for her to take.

"Lucy," he said, relief plain in his voice.

"Who are you?" she asked, ignoring his hand and scrambling to her feet on her own. They were in what used to be the gym, but now was torn apart with different battles. They were losing, these people had powers they could never dream of, and their so called self defense classes were not helping at all. Of course, no one seemed to know why they were attacking the school in the first place, but that was neither here nor there. After the alarms had gone silent, they had attacked the groups of students that were returning to bed.

"My name is Loke," he said, and his eyes looked sad as they turned away from her curious eyes.

"Have you seen a boy named Natsu?" Lucy demanded, all wonderings about who this was fading, she had passed by the infirmary earlier and he had been gone, bed covers slightly burnt, but there were no traces of blood so she assumed he was still alive…possibly. "Pink hair, obnoxious?"

"I did see him getting dragged into a room," Loke said, his eyes narrowing. "But Lucy, I cannot recommend going after him—it didn't look like he was going to make it—"

"Show me to the room," Lucy said, a fiery look starting in her eyes. Loke looked alarmed, his eyes widening perceptibly as if he physically couldn't resist an order from her. "Now."

"Please don't make me," Loke begged, "I've walked away from perhaps the biggest fight of the century to make sure Erza had gotten you to safety…which she didn't…" he added the last part in a mumble.

"Look Natsu is my boyfriend, and I'm not going to leave him to die. Show me where he is." Loke sighed, his shoulders slumping.

"Fine," he mumbled, and suddenly she was reminded of a much stronger man, someone that looked exactly like him but was definitely happier, better kept. She shook away the image, blaming it on her imagination. It had to be, she had never met this boy in her life. "I'll take you to the room."

The voice spoke again once they had left the gym and headed towards the room, the voice that had commanded it's soldiers to take Natsu.

"Lucy Heartfilia has been collected."
