Chapter 6: Sally Jackson
Percy walked away from the motionless body of Vulgnam with both books in his hands. It wasn't long before he ran into Annabeth.
"PERCY! What happened? I heard something coming from your direction but I couldn't find you!"
Percy shook his head, "Where's Lex Annabeth? We need to find him and then we need to find some place to put these books. One of them puts people to sleep, the other one wakes them up and puts them under your control."
Annabeth nodded and grabbed one of the books from Percy. As Percy looked behind him he noticed that the sun was coming up. Percy hesitated and looked back at Vulgnam. Vulgnam was a vampire so he would die if he stayed sleeping there. Percy sighed and ran back to his body.
"What are you doing Percy? Leave him!" Annabeth said. Percy shook his head and grabbed Vulgnam's arms.
"I can't just let someone die Annabeth. Not even him." Said Percy as he dragged Vulgnam into a shop with a FOR SALE sign on its front door.
After that, it all happened so fast. Vulgnam stirred to life and leapt up off the ground. The vampire reached out his arms and sliced at Percy's chest. Percy dropped the second half of the spell that he was holding and jumped backwards.
"B-but…" Percy stammered. "I put you to sleep!"
"No Percy. You didn't put me to sleep. You didn't tell it to put me to sleep. You told it to put someone else to sleep…
Percy got confused but then he remembered what he had said directly before using the spell meant for Vulgnam…
This is for you mom!
Percy looked into Vulgnam's eyes. "No. Not my mother."
Vulgnam picked up the second half of the book. The one that would make everyone who was asleep wake back up under his control. He smiled and said, "Suscita fideles meos. Quia ego Dominus regalis sublimitas" (In English this means Wake up my loyal servants. For I am your royal highness.)
"NO!" Percy screamed as he ran into Vulgnam.
Vulgnam laughed and swiped Percy across the face. "Your mother is under my control now." He said. "I wonder what I should do. Make her jump off a bridge maybe. That would be fun. Oh, I got it. How about I have her shoot a couple of innocent civilians before killing herself. Yes, that would be a lot more interesting."
Percy spat in Vulgnam's face. Then, Vulgnam turned into a bat and flew out of the shop with the book clutched in his claws. Percy immediately turned into a bat and flew after him. There had to be some way to stop him before he killed his mother and all the people that were asleep in the music shop. The problem was, Vulgnam was too fast and before long, the vampire was out of Percy's sight. Percy looked around and came face to face with the mad look of two other vampire bats staring at him.
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO AFTER HIM!" Annabeth said as Lex, Percy, and she flew toward the roof of a skyscraper. Percy looked at her but didn't say anything. He knew that she was right.
The trio entered the airvent on top of the building and laid down inside of it in order to stay hidden from the sun and people. Knowing that Vulgnam could very well be killing his mother at the moment, Percy found it hard to fall asleep but, he had to. Percy knew that when the sun went down again he was going after Vulgnam and was going to save his mother. With that thought, Percy fell asleep.
