DarkFoxKit: *slowly comes onto the camera* … Uh… hi readers. Now some of you asked me why did we abandon this story. We didn't ABANDON it, it's just situations kept us from updating it.

ConstructCritical: Basically we got into an argument which I started and it was all my fault and so we stopped talking to each other for- *gasp* -about a month but we're back now so be happy I'm happy are you happy? *falls to the floor, trying to breath again*

DarkFoxKit: I HOPE you guys are happy! You better BE happy! *huffs* Anyway, the argument was forgiven so now we can update this again… unfortunately our memories of the story has deteriorated so we can barely remember what this chapter is about unless we take the time to re-read everything, but that would require you people to wait even longer.

ConstructCritical: As I recall… … …I've got nothing.

DarkFoxKit: Well… I think it had something to do with a test and moving up in the ranks... ah, we'll do the rest at the bottom. We hope you enjoy this long awaited chapter!

Chapter 5: The Test

Crit looked around for Kit, but didn't see the Eevee anywhere.

"Kit! Oh, Ki-it!" He called, continuing in this manner for the next few minutes, not hearing anything in response.

The Pikachu frowned, wondering where she could be.

He chuckled to himself for a second on a thought, and decided to go on through with it. "Oh where, Oh where has my little Eevee gone, Oh where, oh where could she be?" Singing a bit, having a bit of fun while he looked ,although quite quietly, as not to gain any laughs from any nearby.

Then he heard a THUD not far from there and someone snapping, "Just get out of our face!"

And he heard Kit's voice, "This isn't fair! Just because you're at a higher rank doesn't mean you should just push us around like that!"

Crit quickly ran to the sound of the 'THUD' and the voices, ramming, quite literally, into none other than Kit. "Ow!" He said as he flew over her, landing on his face. He suddenly felt very clumsy. "Where have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you." He said, holding up the berries that he had worked so hard to get.

"... You're alive!?" Kit shouted.

"Of course I am, and I also met Mew and saved the world." Trying to sound sarcastic, although he did meet Mew, and he did intend to save the world in the near future.

Then the Pokemon ahead of them laughed, "Ha! That's very rich!"

Cella and the Pichu were beside Kit, just like her, they too have been pushed down by these jerks.

"H-hey! Why do you keep picking on us?" Pichu whimpered.

"You guys aren't Crusaders, you're bullies!" Crit called after them, not really sure what he wanted to accomplish by making them angry.

It turns out these guys were an Electabuzz, Magmar and Poliwhirl, they were in the Bronze Rank and they glared at the big mouthed Pikachu.

"C-Crit! Are you TRYING to get yourself killed!?" Kit snapped at him.

"Apparently." Cella groaned.

The Electabuzz grabbed Crit's body and lifted him up to his face. "What did you say, punk?"

"I said that you three are very respectable Pokemon and are probably going to get to the rank of Legendary. Not to mention, let me down!" He said, accidentally letting loose a Thundershock while struggling to get free.

Of course, the Electabuzz didn't even feel that little Thundershock, "You have pretty words there, but I know what you said before… you called us 'bullies'. Boys, shall we teach this sorry, son of a runt a lesson?" he looked back to his other two teammates.

"You'll regret it." The hyperactive Pikachu said staring him in the eye with more courage than he felt he had.

Kit and Cella suddenly Tackle and Confusion the Electabuzz, trying to get him to let go for Crit. The Electabuzz hissed in annoyance when the two attacked him.

"You're all just asking for it." Electabuzz snapped.

"Let him go!" Kit snapped back.

"Uh, I think you three should run… or float if you're a Solosis." The Pikachu said. "I'm sure we can settle this like Gentlemen, don't you think, good sirs?"

"Oh, so NOW you want to settle this without violence." the Eevee snapped.

The Magmar laughed as he and Poliwhirl surrounded them, none of the could escape.

"Well, since you've started this fight, allow us to finish it." Magmar said with a sinister tone.

"Uh, I was the one who," Cough, Cough, "Insulted you, so could you please leave them alone?" Crit asked.

"Actually Crit… we sort of insulted them before you did." Cella admitted.

"Yeah, I called them a 'big poopy head'." Pichu said.

"That's kind of why they pushed us down." Kit agreed.

"Well uh, can you leave them alone anyway? You can just beat me to a pulp." He said, mostly just not wanting harm to come to Kit, though he didn't want to tell her that.

The Electabuzz just smirked as he punched Crit's face and made him hit the ground. "We're not just satisfied with a little Pikachu, it's been a while since we got to beat somebody up."

Before things could get really bad, however, Auro came. "Stop. That is ENOUGH. Do not pick on the Training Ranks."

The Pikachu looked up, already having a black eye from that one punch. "We completed our mission," He said weakly, pointing to the net full of Berries.

Auro sighed, "I know that. Kit brought in Tidal for arrest and questioning earlier." he turned to the three, who looked around nervously. "I would like an explanation… why did you three attack my class?"

"I made fun of them." Crit replied truthfully.

"That's still not a good excuse to attack an ally." Auro said, still glaring at the three.

"Hey! We didn't do anything! We were just hanging out, and then those little… youngsters… flew into our hangout and started insulting us! We didn't do anything!" The Electabuzz said innocently.

"You PUNCHED Crit in the face." Kit snapped.

Auro shook his head, "You three need to be punished." then he turned to the rest of them. "All of you, head back to the meeting place. I'll meet you there shortly."

The trio glanced at Mr. Auro, and then at the four. "You four will pay. Mark my words." The Electabuzz said without a hint of mercy in his voice.

They gulped as Auro hauled them off. Kit looked at Crit, then looked at Cella and Pichu before sighing, "We're so screwed."

Crit nodded sadly, along with the Pichu and Cella.

"Wait a minute, I never got your name." Crit said, pointing at the Pichu.

"Me? … I'm just called Chu-Chu…" Pichu blushed. "But I hate it… it makes me sound stupid."

"Well what do you want to be called?" The Pikachu asked 'Chu-Chu'.

"I dunno… something different. Maybe you can name me since you're… well a Pikachu." Chu-Chu said.

The Pikachu thought for a moment. "What do you think of Sparks?" He suggested, not very original with names.

Cella giggled a bit and said, "Maybe you could add in another name to go with it? Like 'Li'l' Sparks or 'Trevor' Sparks or something."

The Eevee looked curiously at Cella, "... Did you say those by random or by how the Pichu looks?"

Cella shrugged, or would have if it hadn't been for her not having shoulders. "It just seemed right." She said. "Or maybe I'm just a Psychic type." She said sheepishly.

Kit looked over at them, "What do you think, Crit? Any of them fit your fancy?"

"Trevor Sparks!" He said, standing up on his two legs, in a triumphant pose.

"Trevor Sparks?" Chu-Chu tilted his head. "... Yeah, I kinda like it. Yeah… from now on I'm Trevor Sparks! Or just Trevor for short!"

So, several days passed… Team Evoshock were working harder than ever to get stronger. They remembered that embarrassing performance with the obstacle course, so they're doing their best to improve. Both had different reasons; Crit to get stronger and to help Mew, Kit to help her team and to improve. The two got faster and worked better on the obstacle course, they soon caught up to everyone else with no problem. Kit learned how to swim, even faster than she ever did than as a human, using her tail made it easier. They both learned some new moves; Crit learned Thunder Wave, a way to paralyze enemies right away without having to touch them. Kit learned Bite, a Dark type move, and Sand-Attack to hit the enemy's eyes and making them unable to hit their targets.

By the time they ran errands for Pokemon and running the obstacle course, the Solosis and Bulbasaur walked up to them one day. Cella asked, "... If it's alright with you two… could we… be a part of Team Evoshock once we're in the Normal Ranks?"

Venus nodded enthusiastically. "You know, if it's, like, okay with you, dude, and you, Kit." Grinning at her as he said her name.

Kit gave him a friendly smile, by now she's use to them so she isn't so shy around them anymore. "Sure, it'd be nice to have different types of Pokemon joining our team." then she looked at the Pikachu beside her. "What do you think, Crit?"

Crit just looked away, but nodded slowly. He wasn't the most forgiving Pokemon in the world, and still held a grudge, but he sighed and 'bit the bullet', so to speak.

"Thanks, we'll be sure to work hard together!" Cella smiled.

Auro then made an announcement, "Okay, you've all trained hard and well, you have all improved over the past month since you joined."

Kit whispered to Crit. "A month? Wow, I can't believe it's been that long already."

"We haven't even noticed. I guess we've gotten used to our new lives, and our new bodies." He commented back.

Auro continued, "And now, I believe, you are all ready to graduate to Normal Rank. You all just have to pass one more test." he began walking towards them and said, "And that's… to battle with a higher rank Pokemon, of the Normal Rank. Are you ready? If you're able to defeat them or come close to it, you'll move onto the Normal Rank. Any questions?"

Crit immediately raised his paw. "Can we fight a Water type team?" He asked, knowing of his type advantage, even with his grudge against Water-types from their previous bad experiences.

Auro shook his head, "No, it would be unfair if you had the type advantage, therefore the Pokemon you battle will always be random."

Kit raised her paw, "Do we fight as a team or individually?"

Auro answered, "If you're on a team, you fight together, if you're by yourself, you fight individually. Like you two - Team Evoshock - will fight against another team of two. Any other questions?"

When nobody raised their paws, the Lucario nodded, "Then come, it's time for your final test."

Crit, Kit, Cella, Venus, Trevor Sparks, Telek, Vulpix and Totodile followed Auro to an arena-like stage. Kit gulped, "W-we're performing in front of a CROWD!? I-I don't do crowds!"

"Don't look at them, Kit, look at the team we'll be defeating." He told her, maybe a little too confidently.

Auro chuckled, "Just remember your training and do your best. Since you two are a team, you'll be going last. We'll get all the single battles out of the way first."

First was Trevor, the little Pichu, against a Shinx, who was a Normal Rank. They fought… Trevor lost, but he came close to winning. Next was with the Totodile against… an unlucky draw with a Treecko. Totodile lost, he wasn't expecting a Grass type. Telek was up against a Clefairy, the battle was… interesting… but Telek only teleported and didn't seem to know any other moves so… the battle dragged on and on, until eventually they called the match a draw. Next was Starfire the Vulpix vs. Growlithe, Starfire won with her Confuse Ray. Then it was Cella, she got the lucky draw since it was against a Koffing, her Confusion destroyed it. Then it was Venus against a Nidoran male, the battle went on for a while since it was Grass/Poison vs. Poison, but Venus's Leech Seed allowed him to win.

Finally, it was Team Evoshock's turn.

Crit got up and started to bolt for the Arena, and then suddenly stopped in his tracks. "C'mon, Kit!" He called to her, all the while jumping up and down in excitement.

"... I-I'm just s-so nervous…" Kit gulped. "W-what if we fail? W-we'll have to stay in the Training Rank…"

"We can't fail. Me- I mean, I'm sure our Memmas would want us to do our best." He said, scratching the back of his head, using the Pokemon term for parent, trying to make no one suspect anything.

The Eevee sighed and nodded, "A-alright, let's do this."

The two got up on the arena. And out came their opponent; a Cubone and a Mienfoo. Both the Pikachu and Eevee gasped. Crit couldn't even hurt the Cubone with his Thundershock, and the Mienfoo fighting type moves would be super effective against Kit. A smirk was visible on the two other Pokemon's faces.

"... Well… aren't we just a couple of unlucky Pokemon?" Kit said with a bitter tone in her voice.

"Ya think? I'll take the Mienfoo, you go for the Cubone, got it?" Crit asked her.

"I can try, but I doubt they'll make it easy for us." Kit said as she looked at the Cubone.

Mienfoo looked like he was meditating and opened his red eyes and got into a stance. "Come, I am ready for battle."

"Hold your Ponytas." Crit shouted.

"Hurry up, idiots!" The angry Cubone shouted, apparently female, judging by her voice, although it sounded rougher, as if she had gone through more years than her body let on.

"Alright, alright, we'll fight." Kit grumbled. "Come on, Crit, the sooner we beat them the sooner we can get out of here."

"Or just die." He mumbled back.

"They're not allowed to kill us." Kit frowned at his negativity.

All four Pokemon took their positions and got into a battle stance. But just as Kit and Crit were gonna charge in to attack, the Mienfoo and Cubone suddenly switched! This caught Team Evoshock off guard as Mienfoo used Karate Chop on Kit's head and Cubone used Boomerang and swatted at Crit's gut!

Both of them fell back in pain, those were super-effective hits!

Crit was the first to get back up. "For Mew!" He shouted, sure that no one would take what he said seriously, and assume it as just a war cry.

Cubone whacked Crit again with its bone, doing the Pikachu little to no good at approaching them without getting hit.

Kit stood up and shook herself before walking over to Crit, "Don't be so hasty!"

Crit's anger boiled with her statement. He charged up his Thundershock, deciding to prove to her that he can do this. He quickly jumped high in the air.

"Pi...ka...CHUUUUU!" He shouted at the top of his lungs as he launched a Thundershock at the Mienfoo. But the Cubone got in front of Mienfoo at the last second and the Thundershock hit her, unfortunately having no effect at all.

Kit called up to him, "Crit! We're supposed to work together! Stop trying to take everything on your own!"

Crit ignored her as his anger boiled. He let loose a Thunder Wave, paralyzing the Mienfoo, but simply leaving the Cubone unfazed. Kit ran over at the Cubone now that Mienfoo is paralyzed, but Crit, being as angry as he is, was still aiming for Cubone and used Quick Attack at her, but he didn't see Kit coming in a Tackle attack and his Quick Attack ended up hitting the Eevee instead! Sending them both to the ground.

"... Ow…" Kit groaned. "... This… is just… embarrassing…" she looked back at the Pikachu and said. "... Crit… I know you're angry, but can you please stop fighting by yourself? We're supposed to fight together, that's why we're a team!"

The Pikachu's cheeks were a bright red from embarrassment, or maybe they were just bright red anyway. He was still angry, but this time he targeted the paralyzed Mienfoo.

He used Quick attack over and over, until the Mienfoo's numb body started to move. Just as he was about to deal the final blow to the Pokemon, it rolled out of the way, slamming him into the wall of the arena with a Low Kick.

Kit growled, "Fine, I give up talking any sense into him!" she ran at the Cubone and used Tackle, pushing the Ground type, but not by much since Cubones are pretty sturdy.

"Oh? You having trouble with your teammate?" Mienfoo laughed as he saw Kit having trouble with fighting with the Cubone.

"Shut up!" Kit threw a Sand-Attack at the Mienfoo's face to get it to stop talking, but this left her wide open for the Cubone, who used Headbutt on her and send her on the ground. "OW!"

It wasn't looking good for Team Evoshock…

Crit, was still trying to get a grip on consciousness, sure, he hadn't fainted yet, but his head hurt. No, that was inaccurate. His whole body hurt. He slowly opened his eyes, seeing a small Pikachu-shaped dent in the wall, and him lying on the floor beside it. I made that. He thought, chuckling to himself.

Kit got up again and charged, she was doing everything she can to avoid the Cubone's attack, she used Bite on Cubone's tail. The Cubone jumped and yelled in pain, unfortunately for her, Mienfoo shook off the paralysis completely now and hit her off of Cubone with a Doubleslap. Kit jumped at the Mienfoo with Flail, which was pretty powerful since her energy was low.

Crit pulled himself up, seeing Kit still in deep combat with Dumb and Dumber. He stumbled slowly as he made his way over. The two Normal Ranks had completely forgotten about him.

The Eevee was exhausted, not sure how much more she could take. She managed to damage the Cubone and Mienfoo, but they were still going strong. Not good… we're going to lose this… I can't take them on by myself… The desperate Eevee then jumped at Cubone's skull and turned it around, making her unable to see anything, so she has some time to fight the Mienfoo by herself while the Cubone was trying to turn its skull around.

"TAKE THIS!" Kit Flailed around, hitting Mienfoo, who was fighting back with Karate Chop, both attacks were quite powerful and were canceling each other out.

The Pikachu's 'knees' buckled. He stopped himself, glaring at the Mienfoo. He quickly stood up, and used up the last of his Electricity to pound into the Mienfoo, just barely missing Kit. It screeched in pain for a second, before collapsing, unconscious onto the floor of the Arena. The Pikachu heaved for a second, before passing out from exhaustion and pain.

The Eevee looked over at the fainted Pikachu in shock. He just… did that?

Then the Cubone finally turned her skull around.

"You'll have the same fate as your little lovebird over there, little Eevee." She said without a hint of remorse for her next 'victim'.

"We're not in love!" Kit hissed. "And I won't let his sacrifice be in vain either. Come at me, little skull kid!"

Cubone charged at the Eevee, who used Sand-Attack right at her eyes! The Cubone was swinging her bone wildly because her eyes were so full of sand. Kit took this time use Tail Whip too, to help lower the sturdy Cubone's defense since she only has physical attacks. I have got to learn Swift or Shadow Ball at some point…

Kit then proceeded to use Bite and Tackle as much as she could before she had to jump away when the Cubone finally got the sand out of her eyes and glared before throwing her bone at the Eevee, using Bonemerang. Kit couldn't get out of the way in time before the bone hit her!

"Gah… oh the pain…" Kit said weakly, trying to stand up.

The Cubone rushed in for the final blow, but somehow she clumsily fell on the unconscious body of her fallen comrade. She fell on her face, and a loud 'CRACK' was heard. Then she started crying. The skull she wore had cracked on her head and now she was so upset she wouldn't move or do anything except cry her head off.

"Team Bonecracker is unable to battle, Team Evoshock wins!" The Referee shouted.

"What are you crying about?" Kit's eyes were wide, not expecting THIS turnabout. Did… we just win because she's crying? … What an anti-climactic way to win…

Auro chuckled as he came up on the arena, "Well, looks like you won, little Eevee. It's only too bad that it was at the cost of your teammate."

"Y-yeah…" Kit frowned. "Um… did we pass the test?"

"Well, you'll have to wait another day before the results can come in. But you two need to get some rest anyway." Auro said with a chuckle.

"Yeah… some rest would be nice." Kit's eyes then closed. "I'm gonna… take a nap now…" she fell to the ground with a THUD.

DarkFoxKit: …. *was looking through the scripts while Crit was distracting the readers with his strange Q and A.* Ah! The Cubone in this story is actually based off of the Kangaskhan/Cubone theory, with the baby becoming a Cubone after its mother died. Now there has been a lot of people disproving this theory but we kinda wanted to use it.

ConstructCritical: And I didn't care about the gender so I was like '*drools before un-zoning out* wat did u say? ok sure idc if cubone is femail'.

DarkFoxKit: … Are you trying to make yourself look bad or something? *sweatdrops* While it's true Cubone and Marowak can be male while there are only female Kangaskhan, there are also theories stating there ARE male Kangaskhan and they look different from their female counterparts. Now we all know that's not true unless it becomes official by GameFreak themselves, but it's still an interesting concept having Cubone being the baby Kangaskhan, tragic but still interesting, and don't worry, we don't really use Cubone or Mienfoo a lot in the story anyway, we just used them because their typing has an advantage over Eevee and Pikachu.
