DarkFoxKit: *was lying in a hospital bed, trying to read a book.*

ConstructCritical: *runs in* Hey Fox! I heard you got hurt real bad! How'd that happen?

DarkFoxKit: *glares at him* Let me guess… after falling off a skyscraper building, getting set on FIRE, almost drowned in a lake, all due to YOU wanting to have FUN, it's a wonder how I'm not even DEAD right now!

ConstructCritical: W-wait… you mean those therapy lessons that Mew gave me didn't help at all? I did exactly what the doctor prescribed!

DarkFoxKit: Don't ever listen to Mew about 'therapy' lessons. All she did was turn you into a Minccino version of Mew! As if you weren't bad enough before!

ConstructCritical: Well, I brought you some books. *starts piling books on top of her cast* Shakespeare, The Odyssey, A Dummy's Guide to Insanity, a couple IKEA Catalogues, and; Ooh! 1,000,000,000 Ways to Cause Chaos!

DarkFoxKit: *begins growling in anger* Get. These. Atrocious. Books. OFF OF ME! *she all but exploded out of her casts, and begins clawing into Crit!*

ConstructCritical: EEP! *runs to the corner of the room and dials the nurse* Nurse! Patient in Room 1337 is out of control! Call in the Military! The Air-Force! The Navy! Get this madwoman restrained!

DarkFoxKit: YOU'RE DEAD CRIT! YOU'RE SO DEAD! *crashes the camera*

Chapter 6: The Hospital

Crit slowly opened his eyes. He was laying on something, and it felt soft. Was this what it was like to be dead? He wasn't sure. He sat up and looked at his surroundings. It looked like he was sleeping on clouds.

He looked down at the side of his cloud 'bed', and he didn't see anything. Just a white color that somehow made him feel calm, despite all the things he had been through the past couple of hours.

Suddenly a familiar pink face popped in front of him, startling the Pikachu. Mew giggled, "You sure are funny! Hee, hee~"

"M-Mew!" Crit exclaimed. He kneeled this time, learning from past experience that Pikachus weren't well suited to bowing. "W-Why are you here, uh, if you don't mind me asking, that is…"

Mew backflipped in the air a bit and said, "Do you know where you are?"

The Pikachu shook his head.

"Do you think you're dead?" Mew asked him. Crit only nodded slightly in response.

"Well you're not." Mew said. "You fainted after charging in to those Team Bonecrackers. Well, you barely won, but… there's no guarantee that you passed the test, you know that, right?"

Crit's jaw dropped. He had worked so hard to achieve the Normal Rank. "Are you.. joking?" He asked her slowly, as if trying out the words.

"Nope~ The test wasn't to see if you could win or lose, it was to test your skills and teamwork. Even if you won, you still might not pass if the judges of the battle weren't satisfied with the performance." Mew said. "So… what are you going to do if you're still stuck in Training Rank?"

Crit thought for a second. He wasn't the kind of Pokemon who would let that stop him. "If you needed it, I would leave P.A.S. and train myself." He said, trying to not show any fear of possibly facing Shadow Pokemon alone, because he wasn't going to bring Kit, or even tell her about his plans to leave if he did this.

Mew, seeming able to read his mind, said, "If you do that, you wouldn't last a second out there." he cringed. "Now I still want to know something… why haven't you told Kit about me yet?"

He paled. He hoped she wasn't mad at him. Angering Legendaries wasn't high on his agenda list. "Uhh…" was all he could force out of his mouth.

The pink cat crossed her arms and said, "I want the truth, Crit. If you lie, I will know."

"I didn't… I didn't want to be laughed at." He told her, hanging his head shamefully. With the words by Kit on the tip of his tongue, although he figured Mew would read in between the lines.

The pink legendary sighed and said, "Look… Kit won't laugh at you. I'm sure she's far more understanding than any of the Pokemon in this world, especially since she's also in your toes. Don't you think you should trust her a little more? She did help you in that battle against Team Bonecracker."

"I trust her!" He defended, shouting a little louder than he meant.

"Then why haven't you trusted her enough to tell her about me?" Mew asked calmly.

"Because it takes more than trust to believe someone when they say they've met a Pokemon that Pokemon have searched their lives for!" He shouted.

Mew zipped up his mouth, literally, "Stop shouting, my ears are sensitive. If you don't tell her, I won't be able to talk to her, you understand that, don't you?"

He nodded. "Mm-Mmph!" He said to her apologetically.

Mew unzipped his mouth and said, "I need her to accept me before I can talk to her in her dreams. You already accepted me and that's why I can talk to you."

Crit nodded. He seemed to be doing that a lot, but then again disagreeing with a Legendary can be dangerous, although he was doing just that a few minutes before. "Alright Mew, I'll talk to her."

Mew nodded, "Good, I hope so. And good luck, I hope you two make it the Normal Rank."

And with that… Crit woke up in a very clean and white place. "Okay, now where am I?" He asked to no one in particular as he sat up. He saw Kit in the bed next to him, curled up and sleeping peacefully. He slid down quietly, doing his best not to wake her up. As he took a step away, a truckload of pain slammed into him all at once. He wanted to scream, but he kept his mouth shut and endured it as he cradled himself on the floor.

The Eevee rolled over on the bed, still asleep. The pain filled Pikachu slowly stood back up again… his entire body was very sore! He couldn't take a step without wanting to cry out in pain.

Eventually, a Chansey came into the door and noticed the Pikachu on the floor. "... Where do you think you're going?" she said strictly, glaring at him.

He gulped. "Uhm, back to bed?" He said in alarm, Chanseys may be cute, but they can be very scary when angered… like Mew…

Chansey walked over to him and picked him up, he hissed in pain and she put him back in bed. "Yeah, that's what I thought." she then went over to a counter, mashing up some Oran Berries. "You two took quite a beating in that battle."

"Uh, what happened, anyway?" He said, his mind not thinking too clearly about the outcome of the battle. Likely because he was too busy being unconscious during the later parts of it to take notice.

"To put it short; you both won, but got beaten up." Chansey said, pouring the mashed up Oran Berry into a cup and began stirring it with some herbs. "I'm surprised you didn't get any broken bones seeing how hard you hit that wall."

The Pikachu smiled a little, remembering the imprint he had seen on the wall. He was about to sit up and say something cocky, but fell back in pain before he could say anything that would likely annoy the Chansey.

The egg nurse Pokemon turned around and handed him a cup. "Drink this medicine to help ease your pain. And you better drink every. last. drop."

Crit gulped as he quickly took the cup, worried the Chansey might slap him or something. When he took a taste however, it was very bitter!

He almost shouted out 'Bleh! I don't want it!', until he saw the Chansey's merciless stare. He sweatdropped and started gulping it down before she could say 'Small sips!'

The Pikachu felt like he was going to throw it all back up, his body was paralyzed from such an awful taste and the Chansey sighed and said, "When something's bitter, you take SMALL SIPS you glutton." she then handed him some water. "Drink this to help wash it down."

The Pikachu nodded. "Yes, mom." He said, earning a death glare from the Chansey.

The Eevee beside him slowly woke up as she heard the nurse and Pikachu arguing with each other. "... Hey… keep it down… tryin' to sleep…" she slurred a bit.

Crit quickly took advantage of the situation. "Yeah, she's trying to sleep. Keep it down." He said triumphantly, laying back down, looking away.

Chansey glared and said, "Nap time's over."

Kit groggily opened her eyes and noticed the Chansey in front of her. "Oooh… Did I go to the Pokemon Center today? … Wait…" her eyes opened wide as she almost jumped. "Where am I!?"

"The Hospital Room." Chansey said. "You and your partner were brought here after that beating you took."

The Eevee hated hospitals and began freaking out. "Wah!? I-I don't have to take a shot do I!? Am I seriously injured!?"

Crit laughed a little, but quietly enough where no one heard. "Oh, stop worrying." He said, rolling his eyes.

"No, no, now calm down sweetie." Chansey said nicely, which caught the Pikachu off guard. "You're not severely injured, but you will be sore for a few days. Just take some medicine and you'll be good to go, okay?"

Crit grumbled at her sweet attitude toward the Eevee. She seemed to be giving him the death glare ever since he woke up.

Kit nodded, "O-okay…"

Chansey smiled kindly, "That's a good little Eevee."

"Um… how long will we have to be in here?" Kit asked.

Chansey smiled and said, "Not too long at all, as long as you two get plenty of rest. You can read a book or something to help pass the time if you wish."

Crit's eyes lit up. "Can we play some videogames?"

Chansey glared at him again, which took him back. "You just get some sleep and don't even THINK about walking until we say it's okay, got it!?" she snapped at him.

As she left the room, Crit looked at Kit. "I'm thinking about walking." He told her defiantly.

Kit looked at him and said, "If you want to get hit by her, go right ahead."

Crit nodded enthusiastically, and cautiously put his foot out to get used to the coolness of the Hospital, as if testing the temperature of the water before a swim.

"I'm starving…" Kit sighed. "How long has it been since we last ate anyway?"

"I don't know, what was the date of the test? I would assume it was that day." Crit replied, completely forgetting about trying to get out of bed.

"Date? I thought that was a few hours ago… we couldn't have been asleep for that long." Kit said with a huff. "Besides, there's no calendar here."

"I wonder if Pokemon have calendars…" He thought aloud. "I wonder what all they have or don't have that humans did or didn't. I'll have to ask Mew about that." He said, unintentionally adding in that last part.

"..." Kit didn't really seem to know if he was serious or just saying that because Mew is believed to be the ancestor of Pokemon. "... Crit… why do you think we were sent here anyway? Why were two random humans like us sent into a world of war between Pokemon?"

"Because Mew accidentally opened a dimensional portal when fighting Shadow Pokemon, and also because of destiny. Or at least that's what Mew says." He answered, preferring to use the approach as if Kit had already met Mew. It was his style.

The Eevee blinked at him, as if trying to process the information before she said, "... Wait… how do you even know that?" So far, so good… she's not laughing at him yet...

The Pikachu looked at her as if he was shocked. "Oh, Mew has just been visiting me for the past month. That's all." He said, plastering on a wide smile as if he had said this one-hundred times.

Silence… awkward silence… Kit was just staring at him, not saying a word. O_O As the seconds ticked away, Crit began to feel uncomfortable in the silence.

"Soo… Nice weather we're having?" Crit said, with the same smile as before.

The Eevee suddenly lashed out her tail and wrapped the Pikachu up in it as she brought him towards her face. "And you didn't tell me this a MONTH ago!?" she gritted her teeth.

"I love you too." He said sarcastically. "You would have done the exact same thing you're doing now, either that, or called me crazy. We had only known each other for a day or two."

She tossed him to the bed and jumped down, "Whatever, I'm going to the hallway." she stormed out of the room.

"You're not supposed to be walking!" He called after her.

"BITE ME!" she yelled.

Crit sighed and started grumbling. "Sorry Mew." He whispered.

"This is why I wanted you to tell her sooner. Girls tend to be very angry when a secret is kept from them too long." Mew said in his head, which surprised him.

He wasn't sure if it would work, but he decided to try it. "Well, is there at least a connection between you and her now? Please don't tell me that was in vain."

"I'll have to wait until she cools off before I try anything. Trying to enter an angry Pokemon's mind is like trying to enter a stack of sharp needles… it's not very comfortable." Mew answered.

"Sorry. You could have explained a way to actually tell her without her doing that, you know. Just something to consider the next time you accidentally rip a hole through dimensions." He retorted.

"WHO'S fault was it that told her in such a careless way? WHO'S fault was it to wait a MONTH before telling her anything?" Mew hissed in his head. "You don't just tell someone a news this big like you're talking about the weather! You should've tried to ease her in before dropping the bomb, it's no wonder she's angry."

Crit felt like he was going to explode. Literally. He could feel Mew's anger and he felt like it was ripped him apart. He started gagging. "My fault. All my fault." His mind said. He didn't like to think things like that, but when you're in a situation where a Legendary is about ready to spontaneously combust your body, you'd be surprise how much you're willing to admit. (After you, Madam.)

"Look… you really need to learn to think before you speak. Why don't you go talk to her? She's just in shock right now." Mew said, calming down.

Crit nodded, even though he was pretty sure Mew couldn't see it. "I'm not sure if I'm really the one who she would most like to talk to right now…"

"You're the only one she CAN talk to." Mew pointed out. "If not you, then who else can she turn to?"

The Pikachu sighed. He figured Mew was right. He slumped out of bed and took a step, falling flat on his face. "I don't think I can move…"

"Then let me help you with that." Mew snapped her fingers and Crit suddenly felt better, his wounds were gone and he was no longer sore. "Is that better?"

Crit stared for a second. Not really at anything in particular, he was just too shocked. "Uh… T-Thanks…" He quickly got off the floor and ran on all fours out the door.

It didn't take long for the Pikachu to find the Eevee stumbling down the hallway. She was leaning onto the wall for support.

Crit walked up to her, staying a ways back. "Sorry… A certain… someone… had a little talk with me." He said, slumping his shoulders, looking down. He didn't want to say 'Mew' in public, and even in private he would have been too ashamed to say her name.

"... Do you… really trust me, Crit?" Kit asked him suddenly.

Crit gulped. He wanted to say 'Yes', but he was afraid Kit might point him out on living a lie the last month. He decided to trust that she wouldn't… "Y-Yes…" He said, apparently sounding a lot less confident than he meant to sound.

The Eevee then nodded and said, "I don't really blame you." that surprised Crit. "We don't really know each other that much… so it's only naturally we wouldn't trust each other that much. Still… I guess I was pretty foolish to think I could gain someone's trust so quickly like that…"

"You had my trust, but I wasn't sure if you trusted me. I was afraid you would leave if I told you something nearly impossible…"

"Crit… we're a couple of humans who ended up in the world of Pokemon as Pokemon ourselves, learning that Mew was communicating with you isn't exactly impossible for me to believe at this point." Kit said softly.

If it was even possible, Crit hung his head even lower. "I guess." He said simply, trying to avoid her gaze.

"... Look, I didn't mean to get upset with you. It's just… we're a team and I was hoping we could tell each other anything we need to. If there are some things you can't tell me, that's fine, but if it involves both of us, well… I rather you'd tell me as soon as you can…"

The Pikachu nodded. "Well, I'm ready to leave this Hospital." He said, beginning to march outside, completely forgetting Kit was still likely in pain.

Kit groaned and said, "Well good for you, I suppose Mew healed you, right? I'll see you later then… in about two weeks probably."

Crit looked back. "Oh!" He exclaimed, making some nurses and other patients glance at him disinterestedly. "Sorry. I'll wait here with you." He told her, scratching the back of his head, a little ashamed he didn't notice her wounds.

"Just bring me some Oran Berries… maybe they'll help speed up the healing." Kit said with a sigh.

Crit nodded. He walked to the front desk, finding a basket of Oran Berries. No one was there to ask for permission, but a sign crudely read 'FREE'. He quickly grabbed a few and rushed back over to his friend, handing the berries to the Eevee.

Kit thanked him as she began chewing on the Oran Berries, as soon as she swallowed she suddenly jumped and zoomed across the hallway. "Whooooa!"

Crit blinked at the Eevee's sudden hyperness and heard a familiar giggling in his head.

"Those Oran Berries were mine." Mew giggled.

"Is that how you got to be like you had five barrels of coffee, and then ate a bag of cookies to get it all down?" He asked, half jokingly.

"I meant I MADE those berries to heal her. I might've added a bit too much energy though." Mew said.

"Well, thanks for the thought, but now is there a way to… de-energize her?!" Crit asked a little impatiently.

"Just let her run her course, she'll tire out eventually." Mew answered.

Kit ran over and around the Pikachu, making him dizzy, and she ran into a familiar Chansey. "Oops, sorry! Too hyper!"

Chansey blinked, "What'd you eat?"

"Some Oran Berries, why?" Kit asked.

"... It might've been spiked." the nurse Pokemon sighed.

Crit sighed, normally he would have been in the Eevee's position. Running around, trying to do five things at once, or something along those lines. "Hey, Kit! Let's go outside and see who can run the fastest!" He shouted over to her, so they could get out of the Hospital.

"Wait, where do you two think you're going!?" Chansey snapped, but Kit was already running and Crit hurried behind her.

"We're so going to get in trouble." Kit said to the Pikachu running beside her.

Crit grinned. "So? They'll have to catch us, first." He said rebelliously.
