Hey yall! I'm back with a new chapter for ya! And, though it's a filler, I hope you'll like it! Now, time for review answering!

Brookiebear5892: LOLZ! I love that response! Actually, for the past week, whenever WhenCowsFly and I talk about the plot line—she helps me a lot when it comes to that—I reference it when we talk about Goldenfur's actions. He's CRA in da head! LOLZ XD

Radea2001: *smiles* Don't worry, you'll find out today! Or tomorrow, since it's pretty late. ;P

Guest: Yeah, what happened to Blackfur was pretty bad, but don't worry, he had a swift death. Also, nice theory on why Goldenfur is acting the way he is. It's partly like that, but the rest will be explained in this chapter.

Now, without further blabbering from me, here's the chapter!

Chapter 26: Greyleaf

With a yowl, Greyleaf flew backwards, away from Pinestar, the grisly image of her dream still on her mind.

"Greyleaf," he exclaimed, amber eyes wide and worried, "Greyleaf, what's wrong?!" He reached out a paw to touch her, but she shrunk away, tears streaming from her eyes.

She huddled against the den wall, shaking uncontrollably. All she could think of was the dream—the horrible, horrible dream. Over and over again it had repeated, sending her off that cliff each time. Showing her that image of Pinestar. Trapped in her coma, that haze-world had become her reality.

"Greyleaf," he whispered again, and this time, the silvery-grey she-cat felt a soft, gentle paw press against her flank.

She looked up, emerald green eyes wide at the touch, to see the concerned face of a loving tom.

"Pinestar," she murmured, the fog clearing. She recognized her mate, and rushed forward to bury her head in his white chest. "Oh, Pinestar!"

He laid a paw over her back in a hug. "It's okay, everything's going to be okay."

Tears once again escaped her eyes, and she shook her head back and forth "It was so horrible, so, so horrible."

The dark brown tom licked her head. "It's okay," he repeated, "It's all over now. I'm not going to let anything hurt you. Ever. Again." He enunciated the last two words forcefully, his whole heart sounding with it.

Greyleaf purred and looked up to gaze into his eyes. He smiled and licked her cheek in response.

Giggling, Greyleaf bounced away and waved her tail tauntingly.

He growled playfully and jumped after her, skidding into her nest when she swiftly moved away. She may be scrawny and unhealthy, but she could still move. Waking up to his face had put an energy through her unlike any she had felt in a long time.

Hiding behind Featherstorm's old nest, Greyleaf peeked over the moss bedding, pupils wide. She met Pinestar's eyes, his pupils dilated as well, and he wiggled his haunches and pounced, leaping over the old nest and landing on the she-cat. The black-striped tom tumbled over her and pinned her to the floor, nuzzling her nose before hopping away. She was just about to dart forward to knock him over when the sound of a yowl exploded from outside.

Greyleaf jerked her head up, jolted out of her good mood.

"Quick! Hide!" She whispered, trying to head-butt her mate towards the back of the den, "In that bedding!"

Pinestar quickly ran over and buried himself in the moss, feathers, and sticks. Greyleaf hurriedly pawed at the bundle and covered up the rest of his body. She could tell that the material had recently been brought in. At least none of the apprentices will come in here to clear this out and find him, she thought.

Sighing with relief, she turned to face the doorway again just as Spottedfern's gasp sounded from the hollow. Murmured voices and crying soon followed, and Greyleaf sprinted out of the den to see what was going on.

Right there, in the middle of the hollow, Blackfur's mangled body lay, covered in blood from head to toe.

All of the happiness and energy she had felt shattered.

Chapter 26: Goldenfur

Goldenfur walked into the hollow at the back of the crowd, and when he saw Greyleaf standing there, gaping, her eyes frozen to the spot where Blackfur lay, he gasped. She was alive!

"Greyleaf!" He yowled, rushing over, "Great Starclan! You're alive!"

He reached her side and immediately began licking her all over her face, twining his tail with hers. She remained frozen in place, not reacting to any of his affections.

"B-B-Blackfur," she finally whispered, tears escaping her eyes and flowing down her face. She took a shaky step forward and then fell down. "Nooooooo!" She wailed, raising her head to the sky and crying out her pain, "No, no, no, no, no," she murmured, crawling forward with her ears and tail drooping. "Not you too, not you too," she whispered, shuddering like crazy.

Goldenfur hated seeing her this way, and his ears and tail drooped down as well. He didn't feel any grief for Blackfur, just a twinge of guilt. What was done had to be done. Goldenfur had watched his mother be ripped away from him, and he was never going to let that happen ever again. He would fight with every breath and every inch of his body to keep his family together. No one was going to separate him from his loved ones.

The golden tom padded forward and rested his head on her shoulders, placing his left paw on her right. Greyleaf had her head buried in the black cat's fur, and she moaned, "He's gone. He-he's gone."

Goldenfur licked her head and mewed, "It's okay. He's in a better place now."

He was about to nuzzle her nose when suddenly, a young voice yowled, "Mom!"

Nightpaw was by his mother's side in an instant, hissing at Goldenfur and kicking him away. The warrior didn't protest, and he stood off to the side as the dark grey-brown tom reunited with her.

Goldenpaw and Sparrowpaw soon followed, both letting out gasps of amazement. The four of them all crowded around Greyleaf, snuggling close to her gaunt form and mourning over their lost 'father.'

Goldenfur, a little miffed at how they'd ignored and excluded him, walked away from them to sit by the warriors den. He watched as one by one, his clanmates went up to Blackfur to pay their respects. His silence was left unbroken until Fernfoot appeared at his side.

"You okay?" The brown tabby she-cat asked.

Goldenfur blinked slowly. "I guess."

She didn't press him, and instead she just sat by his side until the last cat gave their farewell and the elders left the camp with Blackfur's body slung across their shoulders.

Chapter 26: Pinestar

The dark brown leader hid inside the nursery for hours, waiting and waiting for the clan to go to sleep. When Greyleaf didn't return and the sounds of the clan could no longer be heard, Pinestar risked a peek.

The hollow was empty, and soft snores sounded from the warrior and apprentice dens. Pinestar guessed that there were probably still guards on duty at the thorn tunnel, so he sneaked quietly across the camp and over to the steep incline that he had come into the hollow from. When he had climbed to the top, he took one last look at the Thunderclan Camp below.

He smiled warmly as he heard a familiar snort come from the medicine cat den. Greyleaf was in there, for sure.

As his eyes glanced over the warriors den, he thought he saw the flash of eyes, but when he doubled back, it was gone.

Shrugging, Pinestar climbed up the rest of the way and headed home.

Hey guys! Here's your weekend-ly update. I might write another chapter tomorrow, or the day after that, or the day after that because it's Thanksgiving weekend. YIPPEEE!

Questions Of The Chapter: Do you think there really were eyes in the darkness, or was Pinestar just imagining it? And, now that you know why Goldenfur acted the way he did, do you feel bad for or understand him a little bit?
