Chapter 14

Lion, bear and wolves

As the knife came down and Halt prepared to fight, an arrow came out of nowhere to hit the human in the hand. The human looked over and saw a man in a green and grey outfit with a big sword at his side and a boy that looked about sixteen also with a sword ready to fight.

"Why did you stop me? they are only wolves. One looks like it is sick anyway" the man said he had skins of many animals on his pack horse, from what they could see it was mostly wolves and other large predators.

"Why we stopped you is our business. You leave now, these two wolves ours and if you don't go I will let that large wolf at you. Something tells me your death would not be quick or painless and if he does not I will" said the man in the green and grey outfit.

Halt watched this happening. He knew that voice but he could not believe their luck. As the hunter left, Halt turned to their rescuers, only to have the man in the green and grey outfit speck to them.

"Halt, Will, you can change back now. Chase told us everything" then Halt did what he had said only to say back to the man in green and grey "Gilan I can not believe you found us and who is Chase?"

"I am Chase" said a sandy wolf coming from the trees "I was staying back here so you and Will could have your moment, then I saw that hunter coming up the same path. I was going to led him away but then I ran into these two and told them about the two of you"

Halt embraced Gilan as Horace moved to Will to hug him as well, only to have the young wolf growl at him. Halt swiftly went back to the boy - wolf and started to stroke him, to calm him down.

"I see, the boy, will take longer to turn back into his human form. So I might as well tell you my tale and you two, Gilan and your knight friend can tell us yours" said Chase sitting down looking at the others to do the same. Gilan and Horace sat on one side of the clearing. Halt with Will's head in his lap sat on the other, and Chase sat in the middle.

"Okay as you now know my name is Chase and before you can ask, I hid it for a reason. I did not trust you Halt but with the others I had no choice, your lives were in danger. Anyway my tale really begins nearly three hundred years ago, when I was born. I lived in a village with my sister, we had powers, I could turn into any animal I pleased and my sister could talk to any animal she wished. Things went well like this until he came. A monster, he had heard about us and decided to come and see if the rumors were true. Once he discovered that they were, he experimented on us, turning my sister into the evil immortal witch that turned you, Halt, and making me into an immortal wolf. My sister was so corrupted by him that I do not think she even knows me anymore but that is why I am out here. First to help any of the people turned animals to a new place, where they can live how they want, the second is to find a way to destroy the monster that did this in the first place"

"Halt, you and I could help him" said Gilan. Halt smiled Gilan did not seem to mind that he was now younger than him and that he had been making love to Will and would continue to do so in the future or that they were wolves. Halt knew that Gilan still saw him as Halt his ex - master.

"That would be great but it would only be Halt though. There is no human's allowed in to the new homes that the animals have. Many have been hurt by humans and would kill you on sight" said Chase looking at Gilan and Horace.

"Then its a good thing that Gilan is not human anymore, not the last two weeks of them anyway"said Horace.

"What do you mean?" whined Will. His head finally coming off Halt's lap.

"I have my story too, the day I was turned into a lion. Like you Halt I ran into the witch while I was chasing down a lead that Crowley had dug up. Oh yeah I forgot to tell you that he was here, anyway Horace got me away before he was turned too"said a now huge lion, that was Gilan.

"Well that's good. Horace is already a bear in human form anyway, I don't want to see the animal Horace that would be too much"said a now human Will. His eyes were now full of laughter despite his obvious pain.

"Oh is that so. I thought you would have been a monkey, always climbing in the trees around the castle but I suppose once you go wolf you never go back"said Horace earning a glare from both Will and Halt. Chase just gave a soft growl and even Gilan did not look happy(An: way to put your foot in your mouth Horace ).

"Well obviously Gilan cannot return home and that idiot" pointing to Horace "cannot come with us so what are we going to do with this problem" said Chase, looking around at all of them, before Gilan spoke up.

"As I said Crowley is here as well as Pauline. I think I have an idea that will let me stay and get Horace safely away home"Gilan told them, his lion tail swish - ing back and forth as he thought over the problem that they were worried about.
