Hunter tore through the forest, shouting for Jeff and Phil around every corner. The rest of the group trailed behind him, crossing their arms to savor some warmth.

"It's freezing," said Paul. "We should be in the car to California right now."

"Feel free to take the car," said Hunter. "Phil!"

"You're all out of your minds," said Paul. "We could save the world, and you're worried about random people-"

"Well sorry we still have humanity," snapped Eve with a glare.

"You can't have humanity anymore!" Said Paul. "You can't be a good person anymore! It's eat, or be eaten."

Hunter took a deep breath and turned to face Paul. "I'm trying to keep this group safe."

"By dragging them around in the middle of the cold night?!" Said Paul. "Instead of taking them to get the cure."

"You think I asked for this?!" Said Hunter. "You think I want to be leader?! Because I don't! I'm doing everything I can for these people!"

"If you really care about your group, get them a cure!" Said Paul.

"Jeff and Phil are a part of this group-"

"They're gone!" Said Paul. "We have been walking for HOURS and have found no trace of them! The next time we see them they'll be trying to eat us-"

Hunter grabbed Paul by his shirt collar and pulled him close. "Shut, your fat, mouth. This isn't how the world works. I used to think so, I was ready to give up on Jeff and Phil. But if you don't believe that the world will go back to the way it was, then what's the point of a cure?" He pushed Paul back some and turned back around. "Keep. Walking."

Paul grumbled to himself and trailed after the group, glaring at Hunter. "You'll see, you'll all see."

Meanwhile, Phil cleared a space on the floor of the little cabin and laid a blanket down. "Here we go. A bed."

Jeff looked over his shoulder as he changed into some different clothes. They managed to find a hoodie and sweat pants that were just a little big on Jeff. And there were plenty more clothes to go around. "That's the most pitiful bed I've even seen."

Phil smirked, looking away from Jeff as he changed his pants. As much as he loved Jeff's butt, seeing it and not being able to do anything with it was not very fun. "Sorry princess."

"Hey," said Jeff, glaring as Phil chuckled. "I will shove an arrow up your ass."

"I'll shove a sword up your ass," said Phil, lying down and trailing his eyes up Jeff's body.

Jeff smirked. "Is that a threat?"

"It's a promise," said Phil. Jeff laid down and crawled on top of him, attaching their lips. Phil moaned and ran his hands down Jeff's sides before grabbing his butt.

Jeff stiffened up at the feelings of hands on him, but immediately shook it off. He was not about to let a little memory ruin this moment.

Phil sighed inwardly when he felt Jeff stiffen and gently rolled him off, kissing his forehead. Jeff furrowed his brows when Phil cuddled him. "What's wrong?"

"You need some rest," said Phil.

"I'm fine," said Jeff.

"I need rest too," said Phil.

Jeff rolled his eyes and pulled away, turning away from him. "Fine."

"What's wrong with you?" Said Phil, propping himself up on his elbow and looking at Jeff.

"I don't want to cuddle," said Jeff.

"It's freezing out," said Phil.

"I'm fine," said Jeff.

"What are you upset about?" Said Phil.

"You're a bitch," grumbled Jeff.

"I protect you, and give you shelter, and love you. What else do you want?!" Said Phil, glaring slightly.

"I want you to fuck me!" Said Jeff, sitting up and facing him.

Phil sighed as Jeff stood up and walked away. "Jeff, I love you-"

"You don't love me!" Said Jeff, glaring at Phil. "You don't even want me anymore!"

Phil furrowed his brows and stood up. "What would make you think that?"

"You don't even look at me," said Jeff, looking down at his feet with tears falling down. "Ever since Mark happened it's been different. You think I'm dirty now."

Phil shook his head and hugged Jeff, stroking his hair. "You're not dirty. Don't you ever call yourself that. I just don't want to have sex with you because I want you to heal. Of course I want you, you are still just as ridiculously sexy as you've always been. No matter what, I'll always want you."

Jeff got a small smile and Phil wiped his tears away. "I love you more than anything in the world, I just want you to be ready," said Phil.

Jeff put his hand over Phil's and pulled it down from his face. "I am ready, Phil."

"Are you sure?" Said Phil, as Jeff moved closer to him. "I don't want to hurt you."

"Yes," said Jeff. "I'm sure."

Phil closed his eyes as Jeff kissed him, slowly drifting his hands down to Jeff's waist. He kissed back and pulled him closer, before sliding his hands under his shirt. Jeff moaned as Phil pulled his hoodie and shirt off before reattaching their lips. He laid Jeff down on the blanket before pulling off his own shirt. Phil laid down on top of him and kissed his neck, slowly pulling down his pants.

Pleasured moans filled the little house as clothes were quickly lost. Phil held Jeff as close to himself as possible when they finished, placing small kisses on his neck. "You alright?"

"Yeah," said Jeff, softly with a smile. "I'm great."

Phil smirked. "I'm beginning to think you only want me for the sex."

Jeff chuckled. "Well it's about time you figured that out." He giggled as Phil climbed on top of him and tickled him. "Stop!"

Phil chuckled, wrapping his arms around Jeff's waist. "I love you."

Jeff snuggled into him and kissed his cheek, before drifting off to sleep. Phil rubbed Jeff's back as he slept. Despite the walking dead all around him, this is the happiest he'd ever been, and was determined to do whatever it took to keep it that way. All he wanted was to keep Jeff safe, no matter what.

The rest of the group had finally stopped for some rest after finding a small clearing. Hunter and Amy had gone off in search of some food, leaving Eve and Paul to themselves. Eve's fingers trembled around the gun in her hand. She still didn't know how to properly shoot it, and felt nervous just holding it.

They sat in silence, just listening to the cricket chirps filling the night air. Paul was brooding while Eve was praying for Hunter and Amy to get back soon. They both looked up when they heard a moan coming from the woods. Eve felt her heart start pounding and stood up, pointing her gun in the direction it came from. Paul stood behind her and looked over her shoulder. "What was that?"

"I don't know," said Eve softly, biting her lip. But she knew exactly what it was. The second she saw a zombie appear she screamed and fired a shot at him. It flew past his head and Eve started running away, seeing more of them coming out of the trees. This wasn't just one zombie they were dealing with, this was a horde.

Paul ran after her as quickly as he could, but couldn't keep up. He looked back at the zombies, and then at the gun in Eve's hands. "Eve, help!"

Eve immediately stopped in her tracks and ran back to him. The second she got to him, Paul yanked the gun out of her hands and pushed her to the ground. Eve screamed as he shot her ankle, hearing the zombies quickly approaching.

"You can't have humanity anymore" said Paul, glaring into Eve's shocked eyes before taking off. He ignored her screams, hearing the zombies begin their feast behind him. As soon as he heard the screams dim down, Paul stopped running and tucked the gun in his pants. He looked back and sighed. "Nothing personal Eve. You were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Better you than me."

Hunter and Amy were tracking a deer when they heard the screams. "You go," said Amy. "I'll keep the trail."

"Are you sure?" Said Hunter.

"Yes, I'll be fine. Now go, someone's in trouble," said Amy. Hunter took off after the screams and Amy continued following the trail. He ran as fast as he could toward the screams until they died off. Hunter kept running in the direction they came from, but stopped when he heard the moans and growls. "Shit!" Grunted Hunter, seeing they were coming from the clearing they stopped at.

"Hunter!" Said Paul, running up to him. "Oh thank god!"

"What happened?!" Said Hunter.

"We were attacked by a horde," said Paul, catching his breath. "I barely made it out alive."

"Where's Eve?!" Said Hunter.

Paul shook his head, making a sad face. "She didn't make it. She tripped when we were running and one of the zombies got to her before I could."

"Damn it!" Shouted Hunter, running his hands through his hair.

"Quiet!" Hushed Paul. "You'll get their attention!"

Hunter shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut. "She didn't deserve this. She was too good for this."

"There's no time to mourn," said Paul. "We need to get moving. Where's the girl?"

"Amy's on a deer trail," said Hunter. "Let's go." He quickly hurried back to where Amy was, Paul following after him.

Amy was trailing the deer, but when she finally found it, she saw a zombie had gotten there first and was already making a meal out of it. "Damn it," grumbled Amy, turning to go find Hunter. She stopped and got into a bush when she heard moans. 'Shit,' thought Amy, seeing nearly a dozen zombies passing through. She backed up slowly and as silently as she could, but stepped on a twig.

As soon as the snap sounded, all the zombies turned and looked at the bush, starting to walk towards it. Amy got up and ran as fast as she could, with the zombies in quick pursuit. She ran until she reached a dead end in the form of a mountain. Amy turned and faced the zombies, pulling out her gun and knife. "Bring it."

Hunter and Paul followed the trail as far as they could until they reached the half eaten deer. "Where is she?" Said Hunter, looking around frantically.

"They must've gotten her," said Paul. "And if we don't get moving, they're gonna get us too. Let's go."

Hunter shook his head. "Amy!"

"Stop yelling!" Said Paul. "You're gonna get us killed!"

"We're not leaving them!" Said Hunter.

"We have to!" Said Paul. "Eve and Amy are dead because we came back! It's your fault!"

Hunter glared. "You shut your mouth, right now."

"The truth, hurts," said Paul. "I told you we can't afford to be humane anymore. It's freezing out, and it's dangerous. I need to get to California now. If we have a chance of fixing this we need to leave now!"

Hunter stayed silent for a few moments, before pushing past Paul. "Let's go."

The next morning, Jeff and Phil got dressed and began sorting the supplies out, getting some breakfast in the they were eating, Jeff heard a voice outside the cabin and immediately got up. He grabbed his crossbow and slowly went to the door, Phil following after with a gun. When Jeff opened the door, he saw a man with blonde and black hair, talking to himself and writing something down as he walked toward the cabin. He looked up and jumped, seeing the crossbow pointed at him. "Woah! Easy there buddy."

"Drop your weapons," said Phil, approaching him with his gun up.

The man dropped his pad and pencil, and pulled his gun out of his holster, setting it on the ground. "No problem at all."

Jeff tapped the notepad with his foot as Phil patted him down. "What's this?"

"Inventory," said the man. "You seem to have taken up residence at one of my storage cabins."

"One of?" Said Phil, moving away from him.

"I have several," said the man. "I was just checking the traps out here and was about to go check the supplies."

Jeff narrowed his eyes, lowering his crossbow. "Who are you?"

"Seth, Seth Rollins," said the man, extending his hand. He pulled it back when no one made a move to shake it and picked up his stuff. "I help run South Lodge."

"What's South Lodge?" Said Phil.

"It's a community of survivors," said Seth. "Come all who want to live."

"Community?" Said Phil, raising his brows.

"A refuge, if you will," said Seth, with a smirk. "We're kind of a big deal."

"How safe is it?" Said Phil.

"I'd say pretty safe, we've been casualty free since we put our walls up," said Seth.

"Walls?" Said Phil. "Like a gate?"

"Better than a gate," said Seth.

"It keeps the walkers out?" Said Phil.

"Nothing gets in, nothing gets out," said Seth.

"And you've got supplies?" Said Phil.

"Couldn't have more of them," said Seth. "That cabin's the tip of the iceberg."

"How many people are there?" Said Jeff.

"56," said Seth. "Sixteen are fifty and up, 19 are between 25 and 49, and the rest are below 25."

"Those are some exact numbers," said Phil.

"I run inventory," said Seth. "Numbers are kind of my thing. We could have 58 residents, you know."

Phil looked over at Jeff. "You said it's safe?"

"Couldn't be safer if we tried," said Seth.

Phil nodded and looked back at Seth. "Show us."
