Chapter Four : Beaumont

Major J. Whitlock

"What the fuck do you mean you lost her Charlotte?" the Major yelled through the phone as a low feral growl ripped through Peter's chest at the tone Jasper had taken when talking to his mate.

Ignoring his best friend's outburst, Jasper turned his full attention back to where Charlotte sighed on the other end of the phone. She was still back in Jackson where she'd stopped with the Major's blood singer to fill out the required paper work he needed for a property ownership on a ranch that Peter had been scouting for weeks in a community vampire free. A safe house for Alice Brandon should he ever need to keep her from the enemies he'd acquired over the century.

"How do you lose a fucking human Char? She's a human! She's an eating, sleeping, individual. She's got no special qualities that could possible explain as to why you failed to bring her to me." he ground out irately, the thought of having to wait to taste his singer longer irking him past a tolerable level.

"Major… your projectin'." Peter sighed as Jasper snarled in response. After hearing his tone on the other end of the phone, Charlotte cussed under her breath. She knew he'd be on edge… la tua cantante was nothing to mess with. He'd tasted his mate… and now, he wouldn't stop until she was his. It wouldn't matter how long it took him. He'd hunt her to the ends of the earth now, the chase would never end until one of them ended up dead.

"Will you calm down? Jesus Major, you know I didn't plan this. It's not like I wanted to. If you were so set on her, than you should have taken her yourself. Now, not only are you out a blood singer, I'm never gonna get to NYC for fashion week, and Peter's gonna bitch for God knows how long about you and your mood swings." she replied angrily as the Major ran a hand through his honey hair and scowled at the phone. Charlotte was about the only vampire in the history of the world to ever get away with scolding the God of War himself, Jasper Whitlock. Despite him being her sire, and him having a higher rank, and him being the leader of their small coven… Charlotte regrettably had a certain trait about her that you couldn't possibly stay mad at her for long. She was just a likable individual… Peter reckoned it was her supernatural 'gift'. "I called Matt…" she stated after a few moments of silence as the line went dead where Jasper had managed to crush the phone in his iron grip.

Less than a minute later, the office phone rang as Peter watched the Major with a smirk as he picked up the phone with a glare set on his face. "He's tracking her down already… he'd already on the hunt."

"How could you be so stupid? You know for a fact how the trackers work Charlotte. The only think they hunt… they eat." he spat through the phone as Charlotte sighed and shook her head.

"Do you want to find her or not Major? Because without him… it could take months to find your singer. So we're gonna track her down, we're gonna bring her in… and you can deal with Matt when we're finished." Charlotte stated as Jasper growled once more at the thought of ever allowing a tracker to taste his precious gem.

"Fine…" he finally spat out. "What have you got so far?" he demanded as Charlotte sighed on the other end of the phone.

"She took her bag, which maybe had about two extra sets of clothes, money, her phone, and I.D." Charlotte started with a shrug as Jasper sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose in irritation. "She's a smart kid. Ran to the subway and got lost in the crowd with all the scents… by the time we got a read, hours had passed and the scent was only faint." she admitted. "Matt managed to figure out which subway cart she got on, we're just tracking where she could have got off… there's a lot of stops, the kid made the right decision… if I hadn't have had Matt, I would have never thought." she added as she looked around for Matt who was staring at a map of the route the subway took every time it left the station.

"Got you…" Matt smirked quietly as Charlotte walked up behind him to see which route he'd been looking at before grinning slightly.

With a small smile in Charlotte's direction, Matt turned and pointed to which route he figured Alice had taken. "Based on the strength of the scent despite how many people would have went in and out of the cart, I'm going to guess she got off on the other end of the city. It's the longest ride, so I'm going to assume that's why her scent is still relatively detectable even after all this time."

"Matt thinks he's found her Major… we're gonna see if we can track her down, and I'll let you know if we find anything else." Charlotte stated as Jasper all but collapsed into the chair behind his desk on the other end of the phone.

"Alright Char… just find her." he stated as Peter stood from his previously seated position and took one of the chairs directly in front of his desk and stared at his long time friend and sire with question and curiosity laced thick in his eyes.

"Jazz… you should know… her scent, it's-" Before Char could even finish her statement the Major's caution shot through the roof at the possibility of there being something even remotely off on his mate.

"What? What is it?" he demanded quickly.

"It's not completely human Major. I mean it's unlike anything I've ever smelled before. It's human, but there's a supernatural scent laced in with her blood. I think it'd be best to call in one of your old acquaintances that can detect the gifts in humans… I think you'll need it." Charlotte stated as Jasper hissed and hung the phone up before throwing it on the desk and taking a deep breath to try and calm his raging emotions.

"You know it's not gonna be easy Jazz." Peter stated as the Major turned to him with question in his eyes, inviting him to elaborate. "Well she outran Charlotte… what makes you think she's going to come quietly? I don't know what you've got planned for the girl… but it's gonna take some time before you'll be able to get her to do anything." he stated as Jasper took an unneeded deep breath and ran a hand through his hair again, picking up the phone to call in Graham, a civil war comrade that had the knack for detecting special abilities in humans and vampires alike.

After shortly conversing with him, Jasper smirked as he hung up and set the phone back down on his desk.

He enjoyed being feared by those who surrounded him. The power it gave him over others was addicting, and the pull he had with other covens and nomads alike was appealing. Being in control quenched his everlasting thirst and hunger to be at the top, and his reputation only helped him achieve overall dominance.

He'd made and defeated many enemies over the course of his time in the South, and he enjoyed the conquering he did over the states and vampires that threatened to question his ruling.

He welcomed challenge, because he had yet to face an opponent that posed more than an inkling of a threat. And with his blood singer at his side, under his protection and beck and call, he'd be stronger. Her blood would make him unstoppable… stronger, and faster. More powerful than anyone he had yet to face. And under his wing, he'd sculpt her into the perfect human for him. She was young, and capable of learning exactly how she would fit into his life.

The Major knew the risk of finding his blood singer, he'd seen on more than one account where the vampire had just drained the human on site. But if Jasper wasn't strong enough, the Major was stronger than those of which he'd met before. He could control himself around her, make sure that she would remain safe so that he could savor her blood.

Suddenly, the phone on the desk rang once more, dragging the Major from his thoughts as he picked it up, surprised to hear Charlotte's voice on the other end. It'd only been a short while since she'd last checked in.

"Char?"

"Matt thinks she got on a bus." she stated as Jasper inwardly groaned and cussed out loud as Peter smirked.

"Where?" he demanded as Charlotte sighed.

"She could have got off anywhere. The bus was making a couple of stops. Houston, Beaumont, Port Arthur, Baytown… we're trying to figure out where she got off now."

"Find her Charlotte… and now." he spat before hanging up the phone and tossing it back on the desk in front of him.

Pulling out his own device from his back pocket, Jasper watched Peter with curiosity as he typed away on his phone for a few minutes, self satisfaction and content pouring off him in waves after a while as he finally looked up towards Jasper and grinned.

"Alice Brandon… seventeen, senior, brown hair, brown eyes, 4'11, damn Major… now that's small. Uhh, student council president, dancer, singer, actress… oh, Jazz… cheerleading captain. Lucky fucker, now you know she's flexible." he winked as Jasper growled slightly as Peter rolled his eyes.

"How'd you managed to find all that out?" he asked with a smirk as Peter shot him a shit eating grin.

"Facebook…" he winked as he turned back down to his phone once more. "Shit Jazz, she is flexible. A pretty little thing too." he grinned as Jasper snatched the phone from his hand to scan through some of the pictures. In most of them she was surrounded by friends, some were taken at what looked like cheerleading competitions while being thrown in the air by her team-mates, and others were with what he assumed would be family. Children, five and younger surrounding her as she stood in front of a San Antonio sign.

"Claims she's got family there… might be worth while paying them a visit." Peter grinned referring to the picture as the Major nodded and handed him his phone back with a new set expression on his face.

"See what you can find out about her family. I want to know if they've got any history of unusual behaviour, or record of psyche evaluations. Charlotte said there was a unique scent to her… maybe she has a supernatural history she never understood." Jasper stated as he shrugged on a jacket and grabbed his sport bike helmet from the shelf by the door.

"Where are you going?" he asked as Jasper turned back to Peter with a grin on his face.

"I'm going to find her." he stated as he headed for the door, half way out, Peter's voice called out to him in an unreadable tone.

"Major…" he called out as Jasper stopped and turned back to him. It was a known fact that along with Jasper, Peter had a unique talent as well, not that he preferred calling it a gift... but it was a gift if ever there was one. They couldn't exactly put a label on it, but Peter explained it by saying he 'just knew shit'… and Jasper never argued with him over the matter.

"Try Beaumont."
