Sorry it took so long to get this up. I had very little time until today and a bit of a lack of motivaton since school started. I don't even. My brain is on full overload. (Oh, so that's why I have a headache...) (Also, make sure you read last chapter. I replaced the Update with a chapter.
Megan's POV
We started walking towards a giant wall of computer screens galore. Allison had joined the group. Alex was being dragged cartoon-style by his ear. It was really funny because Alex is almost a foot taller than her.
I heard familiar voices behind the five chairs. Devon went up and asked what they were doing. One of them wasn't doing anything.
"So. This is our 'tech people station'. Felix, would you mind explaining what you're doing?"
An accented man started speaking, "We basically research, track, decipher, and anything else you could think of. The people working here are the most tech friendly in the main base."
The short man came behind Cal, "You recognize his voice, don't you, rookie?"
Cal failed to reply.
"Yes. A few of the people here are Youtubers. And not just regular Youtubers. Gaming Youtubers. They all share one trait. Two, actually. One, they have a way with technology. Two, they're all curious. And in government plans, stupidity is their best friend."
"What do you mean?" Cal asked.
"We are R.O.G.U.E. A rebel organization against the leading powers."
"Is that supposed to be some acronym?"
"Yes. It stands for Rebel Operations Grounded Under Enterprises."
"Grounded?"
"Yes. We are the grounds force. We have another force. Had, I should say. Don't try starting a force underwater without the right equipment. The 'Under Enterprises' part is that we go by undetected by the government and their enterprises, or plans."
"Wha... What? Are you crazy?" Cal freaked.
"Lieutenant Hayes isn't a name normally paired with the word crazy..." The short man said, scratching his head.
Cal turned away, "This can't be right!"
"Oh. He's one of the 'taught' ones. I thought he'd be good," The Lt. said to himself.
"Huh?"
"Didn't you find any of the info... fishy that they gave you?"
"Not at all. Scientific research says it isn't."
"Dude! Seriously? Would you believe me if I told you I was a flying unicorn?" Allison asked.
"No, of course not!"
"Quiet Allison. I'll explain. I couldn't believe the truth at first, either. Now, Calvin..."
"Cal."
"Okay, Cal. I'm assuming you've seen Zombies up close and personal, right?"
"Yep. The Disintegration was in progress."
"So that means you fought them. Say, did you ever see any blood when you killed them? As in from them?"
"No, as I said..."
"Yeah, yeah. The silly process was in progress. Let me show you the 'algorithm'. Felix, pull it up."
"Yessir!"
A white screen popped up on the largest display Felix was in control of. Black text soon appeared.
"Felix, since you can actually read it..."
"Um, actually, sir, I'm not really... able to. I didn't go into the type of science that this stuff is in..."
Cal looked at it, "Luckily, I went into Chemistry. And I had a bit of Bio."
"So, what does it say?" I asked.
"It seems to say something about carbon and it created to create reactions in the blood stream, and in other objects, as it was unavoidable. First of all, it doesn't make sense because carbon would only perhaps suffocate people, not make them disintegrate. Also, aluminum would have been transformed into aluminum carbide instead of staying as aluminum. So that means it would look different. On the way here, though, I saw soda cans around. Those would be a yellowish-brown crystal structure. Not metal-like at all."
"Um, dude, could you know any more about Chem?" Allison asked.
"Yes. You can always know more about science. It's an endless study."
"Okay, science nerd. Do you believe it now?"
"Sure, sure. Only one question. Why?"
"Population. Various governments joined up to get rid of population. End of story."
"So... Our uncle didn't do anything?" I asked.
"Yes. He was a great friend of mine. Never told me that he was working on 'brain tumors'," Lt. Hayes told me.
"So what are the Zombies made out of?" I continued.
"We captured one and put it in a room with aluminum plating around it. Oh, and by the way, the Morvis charges are apparently stronger and aluminum has the same affect. Anyway, we killed it and guess what we found? Robotics. Made out of a metal alloy that is susceptible to carbon."
"So this is all a huge scam!" I realized.
Lt. Hayes pointed at me, "Bingo. Now, let's continue on with the tour, now, shall we?"
We walked through a hallway to a recreational room. Four tables were off to our right. Ping pong, pool, foosball, and air hockey respectively. On the left was a large-ish wrestling mat that was red and blue.
Allison stepped out in front of us, no longer pulling Alex, "This is the rec room. On those mats, you can practice hand-to-hand combat. At the tables, well, you should know what to do. If not, just ask someone. Except for not when someone's in a hurry or if they're randomly alone."
Continuing, I looked back to see that Lt. Hayes had left the group some time earlier. We went on into a room that was heavily sealed off from the rest of the facility. Beyond the doors lied a shooting range and another room.
"This is where you'll learn to fight!" Devon told us, "Whether it be with firearms, projectiles, or hand-to-hand. Very important that you can do either all of them or two amazingly. You never know what the situation might be. I'm personally one for distance fighting."
We went back through the doors and into the rec room, going right instead of straight.
"We're almost done. All we have left are the dorms and a few conference rooms," Alex said, finally talking.
We were led through a hallway with a bunch of doors on the sides. They all had names, but they were all conference rooms, nonetheless. At the end of the hall, there were two large tables, and three doors. One said Cafeteria and the other two were painted blue and red.
"These two tables and the room labeled Cafeteria are where you're gonna eat for the time being. You had better get used to the food. I personally think it's amazing, but Allison would say otherwise," Devon told us.
Allison shuddered, "I don't even want to know where they found those hotdogs. Uuugghh..."
"Anyway, I'll show Megan, Jamie, and... Kari?" Devon asked.
"Kara."
"I'll show Megan, Jamie, and Kara to their beds along with Allison. Alex, go show the guys where they'll be sleeping."
We walked towards the red door. Devon slid it open, as it was a slide door, kinda like my closet. Several triple bunks lined the medium-sized room. About half of the bunks were clearly occupied. Allison showed us our triple bunk; at least they were kind enough to keep us three together.
I wondered where the guys would be sleeping.
-Short Seto's POV-
Alex took us into the dorm room. He instructed Cal and I over to the farthest bunk. TrueMU and Deadlox were on the second closest bunk on the right. Ant was on the third closest on the left. Oh, and let me explain the layout. The closest bunk on either side was long side against the wall the door was on. The second was on the next wall and was set up against the first. Third was end to end with the second and fourth. The fourth connected to the fifth like the first and second. The last one was straight across from the door, in between the fifths.
I took the bottom bunk and Cal took the second. Ant was stuck on the bottom bunk. True and Deadlox were on the first and second bunks.
I have an amazing lack of motivation to write any more.
