Sweet Serendipity
Chapter Twenty-Four : Faint
A. Brandon
Major J. Whitlock
When the night finally came to a close, Alice didn't know whether to be thankful, or sad that her night out had to end. To be honest, she'd never had such a drama filled, upsetting, uplifting, stressful evening, and she could go on record saying it had one of the oddest outcomes she'd ever finished an event with. But as she walked out the front door, a group of high-class, beautiful vampires waving and showing them out, Alice couldn't help but feel at least a little bit relieved.
Stepping into the back of the limousine. Alice didn't even think twice when the door closed behind the Major. After a moment's hesitation, and the sound of the door to the driver's side closing, Alice turned to the Major to see him watching her with an unreadable expression. "Wait… what about Peter and Charlotte? We're not just leaving them here are we?" she asked, slightly… only just concerned at the idea of abandoning the two at the party.
"Calm down darlin'… Char and Peter will find their own way home eventually. It isn't often they get the chance to go out and socialize with the others around here. They like to have their fair share of fun with other vampires that show up to the ball." he offered as Alice nodded and turned her attention back to the window as the Major settled back into his seat, visibly relaxing as she faintly watched his shoulders sag from their usual up-tight, pin-straight posture, and his eyes flutter half closed, almost as if he'd fall asleep any minute.
Alice felt herself smiling slightly as she watched him. As if it was possible… he looked almost ten times more attractive now without his signature scowl or smirk on his face. Instead of an intimidating attractiveness dominating his features, now he was beautiful. Younger looking, and more gorgeous in his own way. The darkness of his aura before was sexy and mysterious… but the relaxed version of him seemed so much more… exquisite.
"Better be careful. If you keep that look up… I'll know you feel something for me as well." his husky, sensual voice filled the limo, eyes still closed as Alice blushed at being caught in the act of staring. His eyes were shut, she figured she was safe to look… but apparently not. "Keep up that embarrassment and your just as likely to lead me to believe it." he smirked only just as Alice turned away from him. Hoping the loss of sight on his would help her control herself better.
Something about him drove her crazy. Like a strange addiction. Deadly, and dangerous to her… but she just couldn't stop.
"What's going through your head?" he asked suddenly as Alice's head snapped to his. Eager to see his prying expression, and surprised when his body language and expression was much the same as before. Relaxed, eyes closed, and completely zoned out from the surroundings.
"I'm sure you can already roughly translate it." she stated quietly, embarrassed at how easily he was able to read her as she struggled to build up at least some emotional barriers to protect herself from him.
"I'm not trying to invade your privacy Alice. I don't like reading you all the time. To be honest I just want you to tell me what you're thinking. Maybe you'll trust me more if you can do that… maybe I'll like that. You'll be closer to me… because we can actually talk." he offered as Alice watched him wearily. She hated how easily she could fall under his trap. How easily he could persuade her of different things.
"I thought you liked reading people…" she stated slightly surprised as she watched his eyes open slowly to stare straight back at her. Crimson red meeting chocolate brown as he leant forwards towards her and captured her gaze within his. Mesmerized, Alice just stared back at him as he got closer and closer.
"I like the fact that maybe you'll actually talk to me. I don't want to have to guess at what you want all the time." he offered as he brushed a piece of fallen hair behind her ear and genuinely smiled at her. A seldom gesture he rarely showed Alice assumed, but mesmerizing all the same.
Staring back out the window, Alice sighed as she mustered the courage to try and comminucate with the Major without making a complete fool out of herself, or causing another argument.
"I was thinking about how beautiful you look when you smile." she whispered, her eyes still looking out the darkened windows as the Major's eyes drifted open to stare at Alice's face. She could feel his eyes on her, and it made her nervous just trying to compose herself around him, let alone when he was so intently concentrated on her expression.
In the blink of an eye, the Major was looming over Alice as she struggled to catch the surprised breath she drew in when his lips where on her's. His cool hand soft and gentle on her neck as he pulled her to his lips and Alice was lost in the sensation of his body against her's.
Much like before, her senses seemed to burst within themselves as her body lit up like a thousand watt bulb. She felt again the rush of helplessness, the sinking yielding, and the surging tide of warmth that left her limp in his arms, completely vulnerable and at his will. He kissed her softly at first, and then with a swift gradation of intensity that made her cling to him as the only solid thing in a dizzy swaying world. In the spacious limo, he laid her back down on the seat, her head and back resting on the soft leather as she barely had time to process a coherent thought before his insistent mouth was parting her shaking lips, sending wild temors along her nerves, evoking from her sensations she'd never known she was capable of feeling. And before she could even process her own actions, she was kissing him back.
Pulling away suddenly, she struggled to catch her breath as his cool lips fell to her neck and pulse point, eliciting a quiet moan from her as she blushed and moved to push him away from her. Embarrassed at the reaction her body had to his. "Please… You… you'll make me faint if you continue." she whispered almost with a laugh, trying to lighten the heavy mood as she attempted to turn her head weakly from his super-human strength as he pressed her head back the seat and raised up to look in her eyes, a dizzy glimpse of his face passing her gaze, his eyes wide and blazing with lust and adoration. "Major..." she started when he cut her off suddenly.
"I want to make you faint Alice… I will make you faint. You've had this coming, I swear. That dress, those heels… the way you danced in their arms without me. How stunning you looked, and those delicious lips of yours. No one's ever kissed you like this-have they? Never made you feel this way before..." he whispered in her ear, pressing another kiss to her neck below her ear as her eyes fluttered slightly.
"Please…"
"Trust me Alice… I can give you exactly what you're looking for." he whispered as she shuddered under his words, the weight of his body lying over her's making her both uncomfortable, and ridiculously attracted to him as his cool breath washed over her like a silken blanket.
"Y-"
At that point, Alice was thankfully saved by the limo pulling to a stop as the Major reluctantly lifted his body off of hers and slid himself closer to the door as Alice struggled to catch her breath. She doubted she would have even had the strength or the thought process to speak properly if she'd tried too.
The door opened as the Major pulled on her hand to lead her out of the limo, and when she didn't move fast enough, he swept her up into his arms and raced her at an inhuman pace into the house and up the stairs. But not in the direction of her own room.
It was at this point Alice began to panic.
Yes, she was attracted to him.
Yes, he was attracted to her.
Yes, if everything he said was true then Alice would be safe and happy with him as his mate.
But still… Alice was scared. That nagging feeling in the back of her mind refused to leave her as the Major carried her into a grand bedroom, difficult to completely see in the darkness of the room as Alice's eyes refused to adjust to the darkness when his lips were on her's again.
As he backed her against the bed, the edge took her knees out as Alice fell into the soft downy covers as the Major followed her falling and continued his assault on her mouth.
It was at which point the Major's cool hand found her upper thigh that Alice panicked, suddenly desperate to get out of the room despite the building attraction within her.
"Alice, Alice, Alice, Alice…" he whispered quietly, a cool hand brushing hair out of her face as her eyes met his and all the animosity and panic left her system to be replaced with relaxation. "What are you worried about darlin'…?" he asked as Alice struggled to find the right words. Suddenly embarrassed at her reaction to what had happened.
"I- You…"
"Darlin'… ye don't seriously think I'll take ye further then yer willin' to go, do ye?" he asked almost incredulously as he leaned away from her with a questioning look on his face.
Silence took away her words as Alice flushed and tried to make herself as small as humanly possible to make up for the utter deadly embarrassment taking over her system. "Oh doll face, I can't believe that was what ye were worried about." he chuckled quietly as Alice tried to grasp this new found soft and sweet side of the normally ruthless and demanding Major. He couldn't blame her for believing that he would take her when and wherever he felt like it. He was the God of War.
Standing from his position, he walked over to a large walk-in closet and disappeared for a minute before resurfacing in a pair of black pyjama pants. Shirtless as Alice turned her face away to try and stop the drool from falling down her face. At this point, as far as Alice was concerned, Major Jasper Whitlock was a God. Sculpted in the image of perfection as she ignored the smirk that danced across his face in seeing her reaction to his attire.
Handing her a large, oversized button up t-shirt. He pointed her to a large on-suite bathroom as Alice gingerly took the clothing and disappeared behind the door, locking it out of habit in the process. Turning to the mirror, Alice could have cried in happiness in knowing that she didn't look like a complete train wreck. Her makeup and most of her hair was still intact, and at the risk of sounding obnoxious and snobby, she still thought she looked relatively beautiful.
Stripping the beautiful gown from her body, she rinsed her mouth out and pulled the few bobby pins from her hair, wincing slightly but grinning at the sensation of taking her hair out as the nerves in her head practically screamed in relief. The Major's shirt was heavenly against her skin. Smooth and soft as it caressed the skin it touched. It looked like an oversized dress on her, but she assumed that was the point as she hung the dress on a spare hanger in his bathroom and exited the room. Slightly self conscious now without the dress to help her looks.
The Major had pulled back the covers on one side of the bed as she slowly crept over towards him. Her nerves once more reappearing as she stopped a few feet short of the bed and the Major.
"I-I…"
"I will sleep on the couch… I made this up for you." he offered as Alice practically blanked on the spot.
Without another word, she climbed in.
But a part of her... An unnaturally strong part of her grabbed out for his hand before he could walk off and leave her alone on the bed.
And that same part of her somehow managed to convince Alice's hand to drag him back towards the bed to lay with her.
"Are you sure?" he asked as he tucked in behind her, Alice wrapping herself in the soft, cool blankets as her head instinctively nodded 'yes' in her exhausted state.
Just as the blackness took over her senses and she drifted off to unconsciousness.
Just as the nightmares awoke to plague her dreams once more.
