Well, this chapter isn't so much late, as it was stuck in traffic? Do forgive, but I got caught up with the reading aspect of the site. Thank you guys for the reviews. To all the newcomers, welcome to the party. It's not usually this crazy around here, but grab a drink and just step over the people passed out on the floor.

On a side note or should I say a sorry in advance. I don't write anything left aligned, so if I forget to change it (which I probably will eventually).

Chapter 6

Brooke sat in her quiet store, looking at the clock in the corner of her laptop she noticed another hour had gone. This was usually when she would make a hard copy of her creative genius. She had about a 2 hour gap of down time during the day when people were either getting off work or getting their children from school, where she could focus on only her designs. These were the times where she could just put her mind on autopilot and bang out all of the ideas that had been running through her head all week. Some of her best stuff had been created this way, so she saw no need to change perfection. And all of that would be great if it was actually working for her right now, but she couldn't focus for the life of her. Her mind kept on wondering back to the phone call that Peyton had gotten last night interrupting their Monopoly game with Jamie. Peyton's dad had called to tell her that he had just purchased a house up in Maine and that he wanted her to take some time off to come and see it. Every time she played the situation over in her head trying to figure out how to wrap her head it, all she saw was the devastated look in Peyton's eyes. Sure the blonde tried her hardest to keep her mood upbeat so that Jamie wouldn't notice, but after struggling for about 20 minutes Peyton fiend a headache and escaped to their bedroom. 20 more minutes had Brooke putting Jamie to bed and heading to her bedroom to check on Peyton.

So as Brooke sat looking through the pieces of paper that sat on her desk that held designs of clothing on them, she couldn't shake the memory of Peyton crying into her shoulder well into the night. She absolutely hated when she saw tears roll out of the green eyes, it was the weakest spot the brunette had in her armor. She couldn't help but to feel sorry for her girlfriend, and not just because she clearly wanted her father close to her, to have the relationship she never received as a child, but because Peyton still clearly had faith that her dad was capable of it. Brooke knew better though, she had grown up with Ted and Victoria Davis as parents. She knew that it was easy for one to call themself a parent, but the follow through with the ones that she had grown up with or generally just been around, was desperately lacking.

She knew that Larry Sawyer gave what he could, but just like with her parents, it was more material than it was emotional. And because Peyton had fallen into a never-ending rhythm of waiting for him to come around, she got her feelings crushed every time and Brooke couldn't just sit back and watch it anymore. As she reached for her cellphone and flicked through her contacts, she decided that now was as good a time as any to have a long overdue conversation with the man she had come to think of as a father herself.

"Hey Papa Sawyer how goes the Atlantic?" Brooke asked as she tapped her pencil on her desk.

"It goes good Ms. Davis. How you treating my daughter?" the older man asked into the phone.

Trust that to be the first question he asks.

"Always like the princess she is" Brooke responded with no hesitation. Brooke knew that Larry knew she would give Peyton anything, do anything for her, the only thing she didn't know is why he still asked a question that's answer would never change.

"That's what I like to hear. So Peyton says you guys are dog watching. Does having a little puppy in the house give you two any ideas?" the man asked his daughter's girlfriend.

"Oh shit" Brooke said after she accidently knocked over the cup of pencils that was sitting on her desk.

"Brooke, you okay over there?" Larry laughed into the phone as he listened to Brooke scrambling with things.

"I'm fine, you're just coming at me with the heavy hitters today" the designer said as she finely gained her composure and sat back in her chair.

"Well, does my question get an answer?" Larry prodded.

"Only if we're really talking about a puppy" Brooke nervously chuckled.

"I'm getting up there in age Brooke, how long are you girls going to wait?" he teased. He knew that the girls were still young, but he was in fact getting older.

"Um, just in case you forgot, we aren't even 25 yet" Brooke felt the need to remind him. Where was all the pressure coming from?

"Yeah but I'm settled now" he laughed again, he always got the same answer every time he asked Brooke the question.

"Yeah, that's sort of why I was calling" Brooke said as she found her opening as to why she was calling in the first place.

"Maine is nice this time of year, you girls should come up for a visit" the older man said into the phone.

"Maybe…so you're up there to stay, huh?" Brooke asked, she really wanted to stop dancing around the issue.

"Uh oh. Yeah I told Peyton I was thinking of moving up here, but now it sounds like I'm in trouble" Larry said, catching the tone in Brooke's voice. To some it may have sounded inquisitive, but he had known the girl for too long, he knew the question was rhetorical.

"Last week you said you were thinking about it, now you're picking out carpet" the brunette said in disbelief as she stopped tapping her pencil to focus completely on the conversation.

"I already talked to Peyton about this" the man said with a slight defensiveness in his voice.

"Well then I'm sure she misheard you since she was so upset last night after you called" the bitter taste coming back to Brooke's mouth as she remembered her girlfriend in tears again.

"Why was she upset, Brooke we haven't lived in the same state in God knows how long" Larry said, not getting what the problem was.

"That's the point!" Brooke rubbed at her frustrated face, "Everything on the table Larry, you and Peyton have talked on the phone more than you've actually seen each other in person for the last 10 or so years, so of course she would get upset when she learns that the father that she's been trying to have a real relationship with is retiring and moving to Maine with his girlfriend and away from his only child" Brooke vented, she knew the man couldn't be that blind.

"Our relationship has worked-"Larry said only to be cut off.

"For you" Brooke said as she rolled her eyes.

"I can't give Peyton the kind of relationship that she wants, plus she's had you, you're good for her" Larry told Brooke, he figured that the girls had already figured this out already.

"Now how hard would it be to just tell Peyton that, I hate when she cries herself to sleep like she did last night" the brunette started to tear up herself at the thought.

"I know, I'll talk to her" the older man whispered into the phone.

"Soon Larry, because if we do have puppies and you haven't fixed this, you're going to miss everything" Brooke said as she saw a possible light at the end of this tunnel.

"So there will be puppies?" Larry quizzed the brunette.

"I said if" Brooke laughed into the phone at the older man's persistence, waving to Millicent who had come walking into the store moments before to relieve her for the day.

"I bet if I talked to Peyton this would get done faster, you guys have been together forever" he playfully hounded Brooke.

"I have to go back to work now, talk to Peyton…and not about puppies" Brooke laughed when Millicent gave her an inquisitive look.

"Oh so you get to pester me, but I can't even get a straight answer on the litter you two should have already started?" Larry asked. He was only always partly joking with Brooke, but he knew that her call today was important and he would handle the mistake he had let go on too long.

"I've got to go Papa Sawyer, I'll talk to you soon" Brooke said and then hung up, knowing that he would continue if she didn't end the call.

"You and Peyton are getting a puppy?" Millicent smiled and clapped her hands, clearly excited for her boss and friend.

"Oh God" Brooke palmed her forehead, she would kill Peyton for this whole puppy business.

"Oh honey, I'm home" Brooke joked as she walked into her house and dropped her keys on table by the door.

"In here dear" she heard Peyton yell and proceeded to walk towards the kitchen, dropping her bag on the couch as she went.

"Do you know how sexy you look when you cook?" Brooke said as she walked up behind Peyton who was standing at the stove.

"You say that about everything I do" Peyton laughed when Brooke wrapped her arms around her waist and started to drop kisses on the back of her neck.

"Because everything you do is fucking sexy" Brooke mumbled into the skin under her lips.

"Brooke stop, you're getting me all hot and bothered" the blonde said, turning her head to meet the kisses that were being given.

"Where's Jamie?" Brooke asked, now kissing soft lips.

"Skillz came by the studio and took him to the Rivercourt" Peyton said, trying her best to field hungry kisses.

"Oh hell yeah" the brunette said as she pushed Peyton back against the refrigerator, her hands becoming just as desperate as her kisses were.

"Brooke we can't" Peyton said trying to stop Brooke's hands from ascending further up her shirt.

"Yes we can" Brooke bit down on Peyton's neck lightly as she fumbled with her bra clasp.

"No seriously, Lucas is bringing Jamie back any minute" the blonde moaned when she felt Brooke bite her again.

"Like ice cold water" Brooke stopped what she was doing, completely turned off by hearing that name, especially right before hearing Peyton moan.

"Yeah I thought that would do it for you" Peyton chuckled and started to fix her clothes as she moved back over to the stove.

"Yeah, well your dad wants us to have kids" Brooke said grabbing a glass from the cabinet and walking back over to open the refrigerator.

"What!?" Peyton spun around from the stove to face her girlfriend, her shock clearly present.

"Yeah, and I'm so unbelievably horny at this point that I think I could actually get you pregnant" Brooke said as she took out juice and poured a glass.

"You guys are going to have a baby?" Jamie yelled excitedly as he stood in the doorway of the kitchen.

"Oh God" Peyton palmed her forehead after she spotted the little boy bouncing in the doorway of the room with a very shocked Lucas standing behind him. When she looked over and saw Brooke trying not to laugh out loud, she threw a glare. It would take forever to get the idea out of the little boy's head.
