Hey, this chapter is a 'special chapter' in which it has no POV, is not a journal entry but rather something Ruth does not know of. It may be a little short but it might have significant value in the future. I don't own Lord of the Rings.
Éomer and the Éored
"Is the wound mortal?" Éomer asked Halig, the healer of his Éored.
"Nay, she shall live." Halig told him, "but if the wound is not treated by more experienced
Hands, she has a chance of death."
"She is unlike any female I know," said Éomer. "There is something different about her. In fact, unearthly; But it is a Rohirrim's nature to get a wounded to the nurses in a place of healing, if you cannot fully heal her."
"The girl is still unconscious," said Halig. "She will be unable to ride her own horse, and he is certainly a temperamental one if I might add. No other Rohirrim is able to approach him. And that creature that hangs around, we would kill it if not for a braided vine around its neck, signifying it must be hers."
"Then tomorrow we will leave and see if the horse and creature comes along, if so, they may join at their own pace, if not, they will be left behind and her tears will be long behind us to hear." said Éomer.
And so the next day they set off and came across Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli.
"How did you get her," Aragorn demanded, pointing to Ruth who was still unconscious on the horse.
"We found her at an orc camp, she was not bound but severely wounded." Éomer slightly lifted up her tunic to show the layers of bandaged wrapped around her. "We believe she was trying to find something, or someone."
"The halflings," said Legolas. "That's what she set off for, she was tracking the halflings."
"Halflings?" Éomer asked, "I saw no other life forms than her."
"Her name is Ruth," said Legolas.
"Perhaps there is a chance the Halflings may be alive," said Gimli.
"Set off for them," said Éomer, "set off to your companions and I shall take Lady Ruth to a healer in Edoras. She will be welcome there until fate deems otherwise, take two horses. Haseful! Brego! May you have better fate than their riders."
"What of that third horse," asked Legolas, pointing to Aleece, "And that… creature?" He directed his finger to Jack.
"The horse and creature came with Miss Ruth," said Éomer. "The horse will not be ridden by any other man and the creature refuses to shoo. We only didn't kill it by its collar, annoying it is, steals my men's breakfast sometimes."
"May the Valar bless you, ride swiftly!" said Aragorn, "Get her to a healer, before it's too late."
And the company of three parted from the Éored to their separate ways.
I guess fate can be tricky-
So something different than usual journal entries, what Ruth doesn't know won't hurt her (in fact it saves her).
