Kurt's resolve was shattered. He couldn't ask Blaine out; he just couldn't. The words wouldn't form in his mouth. It left a gnawing feeling in his gut that he attempted to ignore throughout his school day. Just keep it together.

He met Blaine near their home room to go to their after school rehearsal. Blaine grinned when he saw Kurt approaching, and it made Kurt want to curl up into a ball and die, but he somehow managed to raise his hand for a friendly wave.

"I'm so excited," Blaine said for the umpteenth time as they walked. "I can't wait for the looks on everyone's faces."

Kurt smiled good-naturedly in response. He was thrilled that Blaine was back in the Warblers - he really was - but he couldn't manage to get Hugo's question out of his head. It was driving him insane.

"Kurt?" Kurt blinked in surprise, and turned to see Blaine standing three feet behind him, concern in his expression. "You are… happy that I'm back, aren't you?"

Kurt's blood froze. Was that how he'd been acting? Did Blaine think that he didn't even like him? Surely not. He rushed back to Blaine and made to hug him, before second-guessing himself and firmly grasping his shoulders instead. "Of course I am, Blaine," he said earnestly. "I'm sorry if I've been acting like I'm not; I haven't been meaning to."

"Good," Blaine said, after a short pause. He caught Kurt's eye playfully and added, "we'd have to transpose everything if I didn't come back - Wes'd have a breakdown."

And, just like that, the tension was gone. It just dissipated like magic, and Kurt found himself laughing with Blaine just like normal as Blaine grabbed his wrist and tugged him off to rehearsal.
