The next Job
Anyway Team Wendy consists of:
Wendy Marvell age 21
Romeo Conbolt age 18
Asuka Connell age 16
Ace age 20
Karla age 16
Tiger age 17
Yes I know their ages are messed up but my story, my rules. Also Asuka would've been born around the same time as Romeo not during the timeskip. So bisca and Alzack got together earlier. Oh and Wendy has a bit more of Lucy/Erza style personality.
Wendy stood in front of the S-Class board unable to decide between two jobs. There was an Retrieval Job or a bounty job. She was still perplexed when Ace appeared and rested his arms on her head.
"So short stuff, whatcha lookin at?" He asked.
"You are the most random boy that I have ever met! You just appeared out of thin air!" Karla yelled.
Wendy calmed her down then grabbed one of the jobs at random.
"Let's take this one." Wendy said.
Ace looked at the poster and shrugged.
"As long as it isn't like last time. I don't wanna go another round with Cobra again." He said.
Wendy looked down over the railing and called down to her team.
"Romeo! Asuka! We're going soon!"
The two young wizards nodded and quickly finished eating. When Ace and Wendy cleared the request with the Master the team of six left. At the train station Wendy told the others what the Job was.
"We're hunting a Stone Demon over near Clover." She said.
"Wendy that's a ten hour train ride. You sure that you and Ace can even ride a train that long?" Romeo asked.
"Definitely." She said.
Two hours later…
"Kill us now…" Wendy and Ace both groaned.
Later at Clover…
"So where's the Demon at?" Romeo asked.
"We have to go see the person who put up the request first." Ace said dragging the younger boy by the scarf.
After meeting with the man, who was a rich noble living on the edge of town near the demon, the group set off to find it. It wasn't to difficult considering that the monster had made its home in an old quarry and was twenty feet tall. When they looked into the pit they could hear it breathing steadily sounding like it was asleep.
"So how are we gonna do this?" Asuka asked looking through a spyglass trying to find the demon.
"Well I figured that you could lure it towards us by shooting at it then Romeo and Ace could hold it in place while we finished it off." Wendy said.
"Eh?! I have to work with him?!" Ace and Romeo yelled pointing at each other.
"Shut up, Idiots!" Asuka hissed pointing a pair of pistols at the duo.
"Yes Ma'am." They said as a deep bellow came from inside the Quarry.
Everyone turned to look into the abyss as a voice emanated from within.
"Humans? Here? I'll crush you!" It yelled.
A massive boulder came flying out from the darkness and headed straight for the team.
"Move!" Ace yelled throwing the others clear of the rock.
There was a sickening crunch as the rock landed on him. Wendy and the others gaped in Horror as blood seeped out from under the rock. Tiger started to cry.
"Oh? I only got one human? Well I'll get the rest of you now to." The demon said from the quarry.
Romeo clutched his hand in anger and looked up at the approaching monster. It was humanoid but with stony skin and teeth made of cinderblocks. It carried a club and walked with overconfidence.
"He must have been pretty weak to be defeated so easily. It's a shame, now I won't have as much dinner."
Romeo pointed at the Demon.
"He was our teammate! And you killed him!" The boy yelled.
"I am a demon. What do I care for humans? I only care for Lord Zeref and Mistress Terra. I was formed from the power of a Dragon Slayer! I am a Dragon Demon Slayer!" He yelled.
The rock formed a few cracks. Wendy looked up at the monster.
"Terra is who he wanted to fight. Where is she?" Wendy growled her teeth clenched.
"Why would I tell you?"
"Sky Dragon Roar!"
A vortex shot towards the demon and pushed him back. It did little more than annoy him though. Romeo threw fireballs and Asuka shot at him with her pistols. Nothing had great effect on the monsters stony hide.
More cracks appeared in the boulder and steam started pouring out. Tiger saw this and his eyes grew wide with terror.
"Everyone run! Ace is coming back!"
The three Wizards and Karla looked at him then at the boulder. Tiger was already running when chunks started to fall off. The others slowly backed away and soon the boulder fell to pieces revealing a very different figure than the Ace they knew. His hair was stark white and trailed off into steam. His eyes were also pure white and a maniacal grin similar to Natsu's was on his face. Steam trailed off parts of his body and he seemed happy.
"So you know where Terra is?" He asked.
"Of course. How are you still-"
"Tell me where she is and I won't destroy you piece by piece." Ace said appearing directly in front of his face.
"Never human!" The demon yelled trying to swat him away.
Ace laughed and grabbed the hand breaking off two fingers. He tossed them in the air and took a deep breath.
"Steam Dragon Roar!"
A Column of steam launched straight into the air and vaporized the stone.
Everyone looked at Ace with amazement. Wendy grabbed Tiger by the tail and looked at him with an annoyed gaze.
"What's going on?" She asked.
"Uh well when Ace said he was a Dual element Dragon Slayer it was kind of true. He's an Ice Dragon Slayer but they have special abilities."
"Such as?"
"The angrier he gets the more his body heats up. When he gets angry enough his element changes. I've means he's calm, Water means he's angry and Steam… well I've only seen steam one other time, and that's when his parents got killed." Tiger explained.
"So steam is strong?" Romeo asked.
"It's his fastest form. His Ice body is the best for strength, Water is the best defense and Steam is speed. But each form has weaknesses." Tiger said watching Ace fight.
"What's Steam's?" Asuka asked as Ace destroyed the demons left arm.
"It hurts his body. After he fought Terra last time he couldn't move for two weeks and he was screaming from pain almost all the time. If he stays like that to long it might kill him."
As he finished Ace cried out in pain. He was gripping his arm and he was kneeling.
"See?" Tiger said using his wings to fly over to his friend.
"Romeo Asuka let's get him!" Wendy yelled.
"Yeah!"
Tiger flew Ace away from the Demon while Wendy jumped onto its head and kicked one of its eyes. Romeo tried to snare it with a web of purple fire but he couldn't form enough flames. Asuka was using a magic rifle to punch holes in the monsters skin. The three of them together managed to start hurting him. Ace watched as Tiger set him down.
"I could've picked a worse guild." He said.
"You could've tried this alone. Then where would you be?" Tiger asked.
Ace shrugged and flexed his fingers.
"It doesn't hurt to bad I guess I wasn't in Steam long enough. Well… I should go help." He said.
Tiger sighed knowing that he couldn't stop Ace. Instead he watched his friend run towards the fight.
"Hey Wendy! Jump!" Ace yelled.
Wendy looked up just in time to see Ace leaping towards her. She leaped off of the Demon's face and passed Ace in the air.
"Ice Dragon Claws!" Ace yelled and his hands grew six inch icy claws.
He rammed them into the Demons face and sent it sprawling. Asuka aimed directly at the weakened spot and fired. The skin shattered leaving a decent sized hole. Romeo sent brilliant orange flames inside cooking the demon. The four wizards watched as the demon writhed in pain then stopped moving.
"Well that settles that." Wendy said panting.
"Yeah now can we go-ARGH!" Ace yelled gripping his arm.
"What's wrong?" Asuka asked.
"Pain. just. started. Ow." He groaned biting his lip.
Wendy walked over and started trying to use her healing magic on him. Tiger landed on Romeo's Head.
"He's totally lying." The Exceed said.
"Huh? What do ya mean?" Romeo asked.
"That kind of pain wouldn't have a delayed reaction that just magically kicks in when the battle is over. He just wants attention from her." Tiger said pointing at Wendy.
"That's brilliant I should've tried it!" Romeo said.
Asuka had been listening the entire time and smacked the boy.
"You wouldn't have a chance with her. Wendy the rest of us are going to pick up the reward. You two catch up okay?" The younger girl called out.
"Yeah we should catch up in a few minutes." Wendy said.
Asuka nodded and dragged Romeo and the Exceed away. A few minutes later Wendy stopped healing Ace and the two dragon slayers looked out at the Demon laying in the rubble.
"It's amazing that it went down so easily… the demons in the Tartaros guild were much stronger." Wendy said.
Ace looked at her then his blood ran cold. He lunged and wrapped his arms around her forming icy scales on his skin. There was a sharp clang as a sword bounced off the armor.
Wendy turned to see a man in dark brown armor standing over them. She couldn't see his face, only two green eyes glowing behind a visor.
"You are one of the Fairy Tail members who killed my brothers? I will avenge them!" The demon yelled lunging forward with a massive broadsword.
Ace grabbed the demon's arms and stopped the blade. Wendy, now recovered from her initial surprise, leaped onto the demon's shoulders. She gripped his helmet tightly and took a deep breath. Ace saw her plan and he drew in a breath as well.
"Sky Dragon…"
"Ice Dragon…"
The demon struggled and tried to escape but was unable to move. He watched as the two dragon slayers released their attacks.
"ROAR!" They both yelled.
Stuck between the two breath attacks the demon was ripped to pieces and his body melted into the earth.
Wendy and Ace, sure that their enemy was defeated, lay on the ground laughing. Their magic power had all been put into their roars and they didn't even have the energy to move. Half an hour later Asuka, Karla, Tiger and Romeo returned and found the slayer duo passed out from exhaustion. Romeo carried them both back into town and onto the train. Wendy woke up just as the train arrived in Magnolia but Ace was still snoring loudly. Wendy explained what had happened then they looked over at Ace.
"I'll take him over to Natsu and Lucy's. He can stay there for there for the night." Romeo said.
"No I'll take him to my apartment. He has injuries still. His internal injuries are severe. I should heal him." Wendy said.
Asuka grinned impishly.
"Is that all you're going to do?" She asked.
Wendy smacked the younger girls head. Her face was red as she stammered a response.
"You need to stop hanging around Macao and Wakaba." Wendy said dragging Ace off the train.
Tiger and Karla flew after her as Asuka and Romeo jumped onto the platform.
"Should we follow them to see what they do?" Romeo asked.
Asuka whacked him with her rifle.
"You dirty boy." She said as she grabbed him back to the guild.
