The Return of Clark Kent
Hey everybody I changed the direction of this crossover, and edited this chapter. Hope you all enjoy it!
One Week Ago…
Barry, Caitlin, Cisco, Oliver, Roy, Felicity and I were drinking fancy mixed drinks and acting very drunk at Green nightclub; a club owned by Oliver. We were celebrating the capture of Rocky, the one who supposedly killed my father Clark Kent. As I was dancing in close hands with Barry in the middle of the flashing dance floor, having a blast with some of my best friends. I still had something on my mind, did I really see Clark Kent that night? It was difficult to have fun and party all night because my mind was elsewhere, so I ended up drinking a lot, so that it didn't seem like I wasn't having any fun. We left the club at around 3 in the morning, my father will probably be pissed at me if I came home drunk so early in the morning. So I was going to stay the night with Oliver and Felicity at his apartment. I had a funny feeling somethone was following me, watching me the entire night when I was at the club. So as we stumbled out of the modern night club, I pretended that I left my jacket in coat check, which I knew I didn't. But my friends were too drunk to notice otherwise.
I entered the loud night club which was blasting the latest track by Zedd, many college students from Metropolis University were getting drunk, bumping and grinding each other. I felt someone following me, and thought could it have been my father, if so I had a lot to ask him. I went to a more quiet part of the nightclub, you could hear the beat of the Chain Smokers song in the background. I stopped because I could feel my father's heavy breathing from behind me.
"Is it really you?" No one answered, so I turned around. "I knew it, I knew I saw you!" Still not a word. "How are you alive?"
"I never died." He spoke, he was so mysterious and quiet that I could barely hear him.
"What?" The room started to spin.
"Rocky never killed me, he left me unconscious. But after my identity was revealed I knew I had to leave without a trace. So when I was sent to the examination room, I left when no one was around."
"Why did you leave?"
"With my identity revealed I knew things were going to change. There were many people who hated the Justice League and I. I knew that if I didn't leave I would've gotten killed, and worse my loved one's would've been put in danger. Including you and Lana."
"So you know about me? You know that I am your daughter… Why didn't you come to me earlier, before everyone thought you had died?"
"I had to stay away from you, I couldn't put you in harm's way." I asked him questions about what he has been doing the past few years in hiding, did he ever try to contact my mother before she died, why didn't he help us when we were in trouble? He gave me answers that I didn't want to believe, answers that made him seem like a coward. There was one last question I had to ask.
"I have one more question before I go… My friends will think something terrible has happened if I don't leave soon."
"Of course... Anything."
"How did Barry know that you were my father?"
"I needed to tell someone, I knew Oliver wouldn't have told you if I told him. He probably would've been frustrated at me because I was still with Lois when you were conceived. I knew Barry would be the perfect person to tell because he truly loves you and he would tell you anything. I also knew he would tell you at the perfect time, when you needed to hear about it most." I had a lot more questions for him, but I didn't have enough time to ask him. I hoped that I would see him again to get more answers, but after he answered my questions, he sped off and it was time for me to leave.
Present…
It was finally time for my last first day of high school, the only problem, was that I was extremely hung over and didn't feel like moving. I had the weirdest feeling knowing that my father was alive, so in order to forget I have been partying non-stop with Barry and Oliver. I was surprised they even let me party as hard as I did, but they knew how much pain I had been in over the loss of my mother and sister. This was my way of coping.
"Barry, what are you doing here?" My father had asked Barry, shocked to see him in Smallville on a week day.
"Well Josh texted me saying that Willa wasn't feeling that great. So I brought the perfect hangover cure for her, breakfast burrito from The Talon and a Mexican Mocha. Personally I enjoy CoJitters more, but I guess The Talon would be a close second."
"Thanks that was very thoughtful, but you should know that Henry is going to be here in an hour to drop her off at school."
"I know, surprisingly Henry and I have been on good terms lately. Weird I know, so do you mind if I go upstairs?"
"Of course, go ahead." What my father and Barry didn't know is that this past week I have gained a new power. Super hearing, another trait from my father Clark, I heard every word they said which sucked because now I have an even worse headache. I pulled the covers over my head because I knew Barry would open the shades to get me up. A breakfast burrito from The Talon did sound good, but the smell would probably make me throw up.
"Wake up sleepy head, it's a beautiful day in Smallville!" He opened the shades, so I turned over because I could still see the light under the seams of my blanket, it burned my eyes. "Oh come on sleeping beauty! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's your last year of high school!" He was being very cheery and optimistic, I could smell the breakfast burrito, so I uncovered the blanket slowly. He was holding the breakfast burrito and coffee right up in my face, I couldn't resist and grabbed it right away. He was staring and me with a perfect smile, I always loved his smile.
"What?"
"Nothing… You are just so predictable."
"I can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing?"
"Good thing, because I will always know what makes you happy." We were totally having eye sex, when what I really wanted was to have real sex. But things were going so good with Henry I didn't want to screw things up. "I'm going to start the shower for you, Henry should be getting here soon."
"So what is the deal with you two? Are you guys friends now, because if you are then that is kind of weird." I took a huge bite of the delicious breakfast burrito, sausage and extra fries, he knew me so well.
"No, we aren't friends… We had a heart to heart because we knew with your powers getting stronger by the minute we will probably be seeing a lot of each other lately. So we had a talk so that we can tolerate each other." He went into my bathroom and turned on the shower, suddenly I heard a high pitch siren sound. It was the worst sound in my life, it was like the rusty shower head times 1,000. I covered my ears, spilling my coffee and dropping my burrito all over my bed, my ears were bleeding. I felt frozen, like I couldn't do anything, it was probably my body getting used to my new powers. Barry came back in my room and grabbed my arms wondering what went wrong. "Willa? What is wrong?" I felt like I had to throw up and it wasn't from the hangover. I couldn't hear a word he was saying because the sound from the shower was overpowering everything, I was able to read his lips and pointed to the shower. He ran back in the bathroom to turn off the shower, suddenly the noise stopped, but I was still in a state of shock. "It's alright Willa! It's alright!" He hugged me, my father came upstairs to see what all the ruckus was.
I was getting dressed for school; I picked out an outfit my mom got me specifically for this day. My father was downstairs with the boys; Henry, Josh, and Barry, deciding if I should be going to school or not. I looked at the beautiful outfit my mother picked out; it was a beautiful cream colored lace top with an open back, wine colored skinny jeans, and brown boots. One of my favorite moments with my mother was when we played hooky and spent a day in Metropolis window shopping and eating crepes. I remembered passing by this outfit being worn by a mannequin in the store window. I stared at it for a good while, my mother knew I fell in love with it instantly.
"So what should we do?"
"Well she needs to go to school." My father replied.
"But what about the school bells? Don't you think that will hurt her hearing?" Henry asked concerned.
"I'm not going to skip my last first day of high school!" I walked down, everyone was in awe at what I was wearing, including Josh. "I have been looking forward to this day my entire life, I am not letting my new powers going to stop me from going to school. I'll figure out the sound thing later!" I said goodbye to Barry, this was the first time Henry didn't look away disgusted at the sight of us hugging. Josh, Henry, and I headed off to school in Henry's cool red 1949 Mercury listening to "Lonely Boy" by The Black Keys. I was extremely nervous for my first day of school, seeing people who I haven't seen all summer after everything that's happened. I was nervous that my powers were going to work against me, and that everybody would find out that I was a huge freak. The entire student body; band geeks, football players, skaters, and all were all outside the front steps recalling their amazing summers. I saw Brianna at the corner of my eye talking to Sean, who I haven't seen for a couple of weeks now, Josh went over straight to them.
"Hey Willa, do you mind if we have a little chat?"
"Yeah sure, I guess." I haven't spoken to Brianna since she was in the hospital, she seemed to be alright, a few scars and bruises on her beautiful face.
"I never had the chance to thank you, Sean told me that you got the thing that did this to my face."
"It was no problem, he deserved to be put away."
"I know we never had the greatest relationship, but with Josh and I being back together and you being friends with him and my brother Sean… I thought it would be time to call a truce."
"A truce?"
"Just so that we don't rip each other's hair out every time we see each other. So I called that Director guy, from your audition earlier in the summer and told him what happened. How I ruined your microphone and that I was too sick to play the part. You should be getting a call from him any day now about getting the lead."
"Really, wow. Brianna you really didn't need to do that."
"But I did, I don't know why I hated you so much. I guess it was because you had the perfect life, great friends, great boyfriend, and family. I think I was just jealous of your life."
"It's not that great of a life."
"It's better than most."
"Brianna!" Sean called, apparently they had family planning together.
"Well I should go." She held out her hand for me to shake. "Friends."
"Yeah friends." She left, I just couldn't believe that I was friends with Brianna all of a sudden.
"What was that all about?"
"Wow, I guess you are right." I paused turning to look at Henry. "Things are going to change." We were in the hallway now and suddenly the first period bell rang. My head started banging from the piercing sound, I was in so much pain and before I knew it everything went blank and then I couldn't hear anything.
The next thing I know I was waking up in my bedroom surrounded by familiar faces all with worrying faces. I had no memory of anything that happened today and was confused of how I got to this strange room, that wasn't my bedroom. I took a look at my surroundings noticing that I was lying on an uncomfortable hospital bed hooked up to an IV, my lips were extremely dry and I was wearing the ugliest hospital gown ever made. My father Clark Kent was talking to my other father Michael secretly in the background outside the room, both Henry and Barry were holding my hands making it very awkward for me to be around them. Even Oliver Queen was standing in the back watching over me carefully, studying the affection of the two boys for me. I knew I had to say something, I had to let them know that everything was alright and that I didn't need to be here.
"What happened?" My voice was hoarse and cracked, I sounded like a sixty year old woman.
"You…" Henry and Barry said at the exact same time, looking at each other to see who should talk.
"You fainted at school." Oliver answered abruptly, standing up from the wall.
"I fainted, but I've never fainted my entire life."
"I think it was from the school bell, right when it rang your ears started to bleed and you bent down to the ground in pain." Henry continued.
"I don't remember any of this." They were still holding my hands.
"Have you acquired any new powers, since defeating Rocky?" Barry asked concerning, I didn't want to answer him but I know it would probably help if I told the truth.
"Alright, Willa Lang!" An extremely handsome young doctor came in double checking my status on a clipboard. Henry and Barry immediately let go of my hands as my father's came in following the doctor. He had a bright and infectious smile, probably a medical student, and very enthusiastic about his job. "So we triple checked all your vitals just like your 'father's' insisted." He explained with a condescending tone. "And everything appears to be normal." Both of my father's looked shocked.
"Normal how is bleeding from your ears and fainting at the school bell normal?" My father Michael asked, he still didn't understand the thought of me having powers.
"Well there was one thing that might've caused it, your iron levels were extremely low. Have you ever had fainting spells in the past?"
"No, never. I've never been sick really either."
"That's true, that's why we wanted you to triple check everything. She has never been sick her entire life."
"Well Mr. Lang…"
"Mr. Parkinson, Lang was my wife's last name."
"Mr. Parkinson. I'm sure there is nothing to be worried about, she is extremely healthy. We just need her to boost her iron levels so that the fainting spells don't happen again. You can do this easily by eating more meat and spinach, anything with a high iron content."
"Ok thank you doctor. So that means I can go right?"
"I actually would like for you to stay overnight for observation just to be sure that you are clear and ready to go tomorrow." I really didn't want to stay here an extra night, I hated hospitals, but I knew my father's wouldn't have it. "Alright I will see you in the morning, have a good night everybody." With that the handsome doctor left, my father Michael still concerned.
"How is it possible that you are healthy?"
"Dad, it's nothing to worry about. I'm fine."
"You never got to answer my question, have you acquired any new powers since the whole Rocky thing?"
"Actually… Yes, I kind of have super hearing now."
"Wow well we at least know now where you get your powers from. Like daughter, like father." Oliver said patting Clark's back.
"That makes perfect sense, I had the same exact symptoms when I got my hearing powers."
"I think I need some air." Everybody could tell my father wasn't handling this well, I could only imagine how he must be feeling. How Clark Kent is my father and how my mother lied to him, us, my entire life must be a difficult thing to understand.
"I'll go talk to him." Henry left and followed my father to calm him down.
"So, now that we all know why you are fainting. How do we control it?" Barry asked grabbing a hold of my hand again. I loved the way his hands felt on mine, it was like they were a perfect fit for each other. He could tell I enjoyed it so he rubbed my fingers with his thumbs, messaging my hand. Both Oliver and Clark could definitely tell the subtle flirtation between us.
"All you have to do is concentrate on the sound that you are trying to listen to, block out all the extra noise. It may take some practice."
After my fainting spell and leaving the hospital, my father thought it might be best to take the week off of school. At first I didn't agree, but then after going over it I didn't want to be fainting every time the school bell rang. So this entire week I have been eating nothing but steak and spinach, to increase my iron. Barry told me that when he first got his super speed all of his senses were times ten, so when he was hungry he could eat fifty hamburgers in one sitting. To control my hearing I have been practicing my powers in Star City and Metropolis running back and forth as a part of my trials. Finally Oliver offered to help me, I guess he was beginning to understand the awkwardness of my situation. Even though I missed my friends at Smallville High, Cisco calling them the next generation of hero's; I loved being with Barry, Oliver, Cisco, Caitlin, and Felicity. They have been in so many situations, making it easier for me to grasp my powers. Oliver of course was a hard ass and taught me that emotions only held me back when trying to defeat a meta-human. Barry was of course the opposite, he used emotions as his backbone, emotions were the only thing keeping him alive and sane. There was constant back and forth, not just running, but of how I should handle things. But really I just needed to listen to my gut and choose on my own, how to deal with powers.
Another thing that seemed to be growing, besides my powers were my feelings towards Barry. He was being extremely caring of me, always checking in on me, even when he was catching the bad guys. I enjoyed being with him more than Oliver just because conversation flowed easily between us. Everyone could tell we both had feelings for him, even Cisco and Caitlin, but we promised each other we would only get together when it felt right. I still didn't know how I felt about Henry and I knew Barry was still getting over Iris's death. After chasing Barry from Metropolis to Star Labs, we finally reached the control room, I beat him of course.
"Well done Willa!" Cisco exclaims clapping his hands. "She just beat your world record by .5 of a second, Barry." I took a towel from Caitlin and headed over to the treadmill to cool down.
"Well we all know she did learn from the best." Caitlin hooked me up to some wires and started the treadmill at a slow pace.
"Actually we all know that my blood comes from Clark Kent, aka Superman, aka the fastest man alive. Meaning that I will always be faster than you, because my father is well faster than you." They all smirked at the comment.
"So who won guys?" Felicity asked on the over-voice system.
"Oh hold on Felicity, let's get you to a computer." Cisco replied pushing some buttons on a keyboard. "Did Barry win?"
"Nope, now you owe me ten bucks!" Barry took off his shirt to go on the other treadmill right in front of me, to be hooked up to the same machines. His abs glistening from the fluorescent lights and sweat, he gave me a quick little glance realizing that I had been staring.
"I can't believe you would bet on your friends!"
"Sorry, I come from a long-line of gamblers." Cisco replied to Caitlin.
"So how are you guys feeling?"
"Great! Just really hungry!"
"How'd the hearing aid's go?" Felicity asked.
"I'm getting better at them, hopefully by the end of the week I should be able to use my hearing power." I replied.
"Good, so Oliver wanted to know what you were thinking about doing for your birthday?"
"I'm not sure, probably just have dinner with all of you and my Smallville friends. Then go to Green after, if Oliver would be willing to shut it down just for my friends and I."
"I'm sure he would, not so sure about your father though."
"Ugh, speaking of which. Guys!" Barry announced abruptly looking at the screen behind me. I looked at the window ahead of me noticing Clark Kent wearing a well tailored suit and tie in front of the press. I stopped the treadmill, as well as Barry, patting down the sweat falling down my neck. "Cisco turn it up!"
"Hello, citizens and press of Metropolis City. Now, I know it might come as shock to see me here standing before you all , but as I reconnected with my daughter recently I thought it would be the perfect time to announce that I am not dead." Lois Lane was front row center, in awe of the super human who she used to love. "I have been in hiding for the past couple of years because, truthfully, I didn't think you would understand the nature of what I was and where I come from." He paused, looking at his ex wife. "I am, as you all know, not human. I come from a planet called Krypton, one that died over a hundred of years ago and brought me here to my real home. From these videos you can see that I am no ordinary person, I have special abilities which I use for good." There were videos of him speeding across the Smallville skyline capturing Swamp-man and many other meta-human villains. "I don't want you to fear me and with all of that said I wanted to warn you all of something." He looked down at his paper. "The billionaire playboy Luke Luthor, son of Lex Luthor is out for revenge. He has killed my ex girlfriend and her daughter and has threatened my daughter's life. He has also threatened all the places I call home; Smallville, Metropolis, and Star City, declaring war on my home-front." We all looked at each other in fear. "With the help of a few friends of mine I will put Luke Luthor where he belongs, and he will not harm these cities!" With that he left the press conference without even uttering a word to all the questions being thrown in the air.
We all sat around wondering what on Earth Clark was talking about, we had no clue what he was warning everybody about. There has been no sighting of Luke since he murdered my mother and sister, he has been on the run since. Even Felicity seemed shocked and turned off her end of the video com to talk to Oliver. I was receiving a call from my dad on my cell phone, so I asked Cisco to hook it up to the overhead phone.
"Clark?" I still had trouble calling him father.
"Yes, Willa where are you? I need to talk to you!"
"Star Labs, you're on speaker."
"Well then I assume you heard the press conference?"
"Yeah Clark what was that all about?" Barry asked. "We've been chasing Luke's tail for months now and we haven't found any trace of him. How do you know he is declaring war?"
"He came to me, he's been tracking my every move since I was 'killed' by Rocky."
"Why?" I asked.
"The Luthor's have always been interested in finding a way to destroy me and now that I'm alive, Luke will do anything to hurt me. To hurt you, which is why you have to be careful."
"Meaning?" Barry was extremely concerned and wanted Luke dead as much as I did.
"Meaning, you need to watch your every move. Luke released a bunch of the kryptonite infected people that I have caught over the years and is bringing them here."
"How did he do that?" Caitlin asked.
"He broke into one of my facilities and killed all my men. I need you guys to be more aware of yourselves more than ever. Some of these people are easy to spot, you can tell that they are Krypto's right away. Other's look like regular human beings, sometimes even high school students."
"What do you want us to do if we come into contact with one?"
"Bring them to Star Labs or Queen Industries, we need them to be secure and away from the public." Everybody paused. "Oh and Willa, I don't think you should be going back to school next week."
"What why not? I have been passing all of your tests, I'm even faster than Barry. I can't miss more school, everybody is already starting to worry about me."
"I just don't think it is safe."
"Someone needs to be at Smallville High, to protect the kids there. You said so yourself, some of the Krypto's look just like normal teenagers. How are Willa's friends supposed to know what they look like or how to fight them?" Barry insisted.
"I guess you're right. But Willa; since Barry and his friends are going to stay at Star City and Oliver and Felicity at Metropolis I'm going to need you to be extra careful."
"I'll be fine Clark!"
"You need to warn your friends before something bad happens. You guys, be careful!" With that he hung up cryptically warning us all of what was to come.
"Wow, that guy is awesome!" Cisco exclaimed.
