All I need to do know is make my way into the castle to assassinate the queen so we can be rulers of Alicante. They wont know what hit them. Once the queen is gone, the villagers will be looking for a new ruler, which I will happily fill in.
S.V.
Chapter 14
Weddings, Vanilla, and Stick ups
(Clary's pov)
After reading the letter, I looked up to find Sebastian. But he was gone, no trace of him left except for the letter in my hands. Assassinate the queen. Even though I hated the Queen, I didn't want her dead! I'm not like her. No matter how much I hate her. Sure, some torturing or jail time would suffice but- ugh. Rambling again!
Back to the topic. I knew something was wrong with Sebastian! Even though he was nothing but kind to me, something about him tipped me off. His eyes. They reminded me of some sort of dark pit filled with evil. The big question was: what now? I couldn't possibly go to the castle and get myself caught, but I didn't want to see the downfall of our- well, used to be- amazing kingdom. This is my home, I will not let it be taken over.
I stormed back to the cabin, clutching the letter in my hand. When I slammed open the door, Luke jumped at my aggressiveness. "Jeez, Clary! Trying to have a peaceful time here." Instead of answering, I slammed the letter onto the table with so much force I shook the table. He read it over with wide eyes. "Who's S.V.?"
"Sebastian Verlac," I answered. Alec, Izzy and Max walked in, noticing my anger. "I met him in the village, we walked together for a while. When he left, the letter fell out of his bag."
Alec, not yet reading the letter, turned upset. "What were you doing talking to strange men?"
I rolled my eyes. "Not the time Alec! Just read the letter!" With an exasperated groan, I took a seat at the table. And waited- somewhat- patiently for the note to be passed around.
"Are we going to do anything about this?" Max asked.
I shrugged. "What can we do?"
Everyone else had arrived at the commotion and took part in our conversation. No one seemed to know what we should do. We all tried to through in some thoughts but none were good enough.
Except, I had thought of something. It was a win-win plan too. I smirked and played with my sword. Everyone looked at my expression. "Who feels like a crashing a wedding?"
(Jace's pov)
I secretly wiped my finger along the frosting of the cake and tasted it. Vanilla. Perfect. The cake was hidden in a tent where our guest would eventually be in. Since I was alone in here I thought I could steal a quick taste.
"That looks good," a voice said. I whipped my head around to get a look but before I made a figure out something hit my head and then I couldn't see anything.
(Clary's pov)
Screams of terror surrounded me and I smiled. Yes, we caused this. Let's recap:
"Ready?" I whispered. Everyone nodded 'yes'. Our plan was to distract everyone while Alec finds Jace and I found Sebastian. Sebastian said he was going to strike the castle next so we were going to intercept them.
The wedding was being held in the back court of the castle where everyone can bask in the late summer heat. In the corner of my eye I saw a flash of gold. "He went in there," I told Alec and pointed at a tent. He swiftly nodded and gracefully made his way over. Simon and Max went to knock out all the guards. I winced at the screams, that's got to hurt. . . However, the guest were still oblivious.
Izzy went to go help carry Jace back to the cottage, while Jocelyn, Luke and I stepped into the opening where all the guest were. At first they simply looked at us strangely form our masked uniforms. Then some recognized us and started whispering, "its them" and "the midnight bandits" and many "oh no"s.
"Hello," I said happily as if nothing was wrong. "This is a stick up. Give us all your valuables," I said in a more commanding voice.
So this is where we are now. As soon as I said that, everyone started running around like crazy. Screaming for help. I rolled my eyes. And snuck off to find Sebastian. He couldn't have gone far. . . There! A flash of white.
I turned to my left and hid behind bush to block his entrance. I jumped out. "What do you think your doing?"
"What are you?" he asked.
"I think you know." But I'm sure he'll figure it out, he's not stupid.
Shock crossed his face. "Clary? The bandits? Your one of them?"
"Surprise," I wiggled my fingers. Then jumped on him, making him fall to the ground with me on top of him. "I saw you little letter S.V.," I mocked. "Did you really think you could get away with this?"
"Actually yes." He plunged a knife in my stomach. I screamed out in pain and rolled to the side. Sebastian disappeared into the gate. I clutched at my side and my hands came away with blood.
I was vaguely aware of people rushing towards me. I realized someone was carrying me but all I could think of was that Sebastian got away.
(Sebastian's pov)
"The queen will see you now," the guard told me and led me into the throne room. I felt a tiny bit sad that I had to stab Clary. She was actually very kind and sweet, but once her true identity was revealed I had to. She was probably planning on taking me prisoner or to kill me. I couldn't let that happen so I did what I had to do. It's a shame, I had taken a liking in her.
I bowed formally. "My queen." I rose. "I'm terribly sorry that your groom was kidnapped on your wedding day! What a shame." Yes, I knew about this. News travels very fast around here.
"Just when I thought my day my getting good!" She threw her hands up in the air, then smiled at me. Like she had forgotten about Jace already. "Why have you come to my presence?"
"Well you see, I've heard that you are one of the most wise and knowledgeable Queens in the country and I wanted to learn so much from you."
She smiled like this pleased her.
Wise and knowledgeable. Hah. She knows nothing.
So small cliffhanger. And sorry it's been a little while. I watched the Vampire Academy movie on Saturday. I liked it, it was actually pretty close to the book. The one thing that bothered me was that Lissa was using element magic. Like what?
