"Did you really think you could get away with this?"
"Actually yes." He plunged a knife in my stomach. I screamed out in pain and rolled to the side. Sebastian disappeared into the gate. I clutched at my side and my hands came away with blood.
I was vaguely aware of people rushing towards me. I realized someone was carrying me but all I could think of was that Sebastian got away.
Chapter 15
Blood, Revenge and Awakenings
(Clary's pov)
Sebastian had killed the queen and took me prisoner. I was chained to the wall in a dark room. Sebastian stood before me.
"Where is it?" he yelled.
"Where's what?" I whispered back.
He whipped my back with a leather cord. I arched my back in pain. I bit my tongue from screaming, the taste of blood entered my mouth. "You know what I'm talking about! Where is it?!"
He whipped me again. "I don't know what you're talking about about."
"Fine, maybe you need more convincing." He stepped back to reveal Jace, also chained to the wall.
"No!" I tried fighting against the chains but they didn't budge.
"Last chance!" Sebastian pulled out a knife and held it to Jace's throat.
I gasped. "I- I- still don't know what you're talking about."
"Clary," came Jace's angelic voice. "I love you."
That's when I started to cry. I was yelling, but I wasn't sure exactly what I was saying. Sebastian gave me a look of pity before pulling the knife through Jace's throat.
My eyes fluttered open and I took in my surroundings. I was laying on my bed and Simon, Alec, and Max were around me. Before I was able to say anything a sharp pain shot through my stomach. I cried out on pain. Surprised, the three rushed to my side.
"Make it stop," I whispered while gripping the bed. Then I remembered. I had tried to stop Sebastian from getting to the castle, but he stabbed me in the stomach. And he got away. I started to go frantic. unfortunately, all the movement just caused me more pain. "Sebastian! He got away- he- we have to find him!"
Simon and Max tried to calm me while Alec told me my situation. "Clary you need to stay still. You moving around to much will mess with the stitches. Jocelyn said there is twelve."
"Twelve!" I exclaimed. Max grabbed one of my hands and squeezed it. I think I was squeezing it back too hard because his face showed pain. Then I looked down at the bed under me. It was covered in dark red blood. Not an inch uncovered. It was like the beds original color was red instead of white. I stifled a scream and threw my hand over my mouth. That all came from me? My mind was whirring. Not only about or from the blood loss, but Sebastian got away and we have no idea when he'll kill the queen.
"We should get you cleaned up," Simon said softly. I nodded. He wrapped his arm around my waist for support and led me to the bath room. We were silent as he filled the tub with hot water. Then he left me to wash off. The second I lowered myself into the tub, the water turned red. I shuddered, and tried not to let it bother me.
In the silence of the bathroom, I remembered the dream. Did it mean anything? Will it somehow come true?
After I was done, I wrapped myself in a towel. Back in my room, I changed into my everyday clothes. While purposely avoiding to look at the bed. Upon entering the living room, I stopped dead in my tracks. He was sitting there tied to a chair. I had totally forgotten.
"Jace," I whispered. I hadn't seen him since I helped him escape. He looks even more handsomer than last time, if that's possible. His head was slouched foward and his eyes were closed. He looked so vulnerable and defeated, hardly the snarky Jace from before.
"He's under a spell," a voice said. I jumped, realizing I wasn't alone. In the corner of the room, Jocelyn sat in a chair. "How are you feeling?"
"Okay," I lied. I winced as I took a seat next to her. "What do you mean he's under a spell?"
"I think the queen gave him a love potion," she looked at me sadly. She was the one who first figured out that I love him.
"Well how do we get the spell to stop?" I asked.
"We have no idea," Luke said, entering the room. "Any ideas?"
The rest of our group came in the room also. "How about this?" Max said. Before I could ask him what he was going to do, he punched him straight in the face.
"Max!" I yelled.
"What? It was worth a shot," he shrugged. "Plus, it was fun revenge!"
Jace had woken up from his sleep. "OW! Can I go back to my love yet?!" I sighed, well that didn't work.
We tried many other ways. Giving him smelling incents, producing loud noises right next to his ear, even repeatedly punching him in the face (not my idea).
"A kiss," Jocelyn whispered so quietly that I barely heard her. No one else heard. "A kiss by his true love shall wake him from the spell," she said more loudly.
A kiss? By his true love? "That would be you, Clary," she said.
"Me?" I looked at everyone's faces. They all had a look of approval.
"It makes total sense!" Izzy exclaimed.
I turned toward Jace. "Oh no! No way!" he yelled.
"I cant do this with all you watching me," I told them. They all reluctantly left. I cant believe this is going to be my first kiss. I always thought my first kiss would be with someone who loved me.
I sat on his lap. "Nope! Nope! Nope!" he shook his head.
"It will be over soon," I whispered. I leaned my face towards his. He tried to back his face as far away from mine as he could. But he could only go so far, since he's tied to the chair. I pressed my lips to his. Slowly I pulled back. Jace still had that dumbstruck look. Then it softened. He leaned forward to kiss me again. I smiled against his lips. It worked.
We leaned our foreheads against each other. "I love you, Clary," he whispered.
"I love you too." The others came rushing through the door. "Were you eavesdropping!" I chastised.
"Guilty as charged!" Izzy yelled. The girls hugged me while the boys went to untie Jace.
"If you ever hurt her, I swear you'll never see the light of day again," Alec threatened Jace. He swallowed. I laughed and hugged Jace, which he gladly returned. I'm glad I have people like Alec to watch over me, but sometimes he goes a bit over board.
I groaned. "My life is officially a fairy tale."
This isn't the last chapter in case you thought that.
What faction would you guys be in? (this is from the Divergent Trilogy if you didn't know) I would be in either Erudite or Amity.
