Chapter Thirteen: Apologies
Beep... Beep... Beep...
His eyes opened slightly, they were being pushed down by the weight of his previous unconsciousness.
Beep... Beep... Beep...
He heard muffled voices in the background, to his left. He seemed to be surrounded with dark green curtains and a white ceiling.
His eyes opened wider and he grew confused, as if he didn't know who or where he was. He could see surgical wires attached to his arms with weird bandages and began to panic. The beeps became faster.
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
The muffled voices became louder and closer. Suddenly, all his confusion was taken over by the blank darkness of a dreamless sleep.
.
.
A doctor turned around, startled as a group of teenagers burst into the room. She figured they were here to visit her patient, Drew Hayden. She mentally rolled her eyes in annoyance as she approached them. "You must be here to visit Drew Hayden?"
She raised an eyebrow as a girl replied, "Yes, that's us."
Then she turned to look at the bulky purple-haired boy, "Is he okay? Is Drew okay?
I'm guessing puppy-hair is his girlfriend, plum-head and the rest are his friends, she thought. She gave them a fake bright smile, "Drew will be alright, he's well on his way to recovery." She smirked, internally as she put on another face. "However, we won't be able to get all the poison out. If that poison happens to strike the right place..."
May, A.K.A puppy-hair, nodded. "We understand. May I please see him?" She had a look of relief on her face.
The doctor nodded, smiling. "Sure. First, I'll introduce myself. I'm Dr. Hayman, you can just call me Jess or Jessica, whichever you prefer."
May grinned, "Hi there Jess, I'm May Maple."
Jess smiled, "I'm feeling very star struck, being in a room with you and Ghost of the Night and mostly, the amazing Drew Hayden being my patient. What an experience. Where are the other three members of your band?"
"I'm flattered! The others are waiting for us. The policy didn't allow them to come up here," May replied with a grin.
"Oh, stupid policy. The receptionist is quite a rude-head sometimes," she said with a smile. Then she saw the impatient look on the boys' faces and was slightly startled. "Well, come on now, he's right here."
She led them over to the dark green curtains and opened them up, revealing Drew lying on the hospital bed with surgical wires, bandages and a computer showing his heart rate etc.. He seemed to be unconscious.
"He's unconscious at the moment, he probably will be like this for the next couple of days until he wakes up-"
"Wait, so he's comatose?" Gary asked, interrupting her.
Jess internally glared at him for interrupting but replied normally, "Yes. It's a very minor coma though, no aide effects will happen. Temporary memory loss may occur, but that's the worst it will get at this point."
"Anyway, not trying to be rude but I think you should leave now. He needs full medical attention 24/7 to recover properly," Jess said kindly.
May's face slightly fell, "So soon?" she asked quietly. Then she shook her head, "No, you're right. If we want him to recover, we should go."
The other three boys agreed and said their farewells to Drew. Then, they left the room, Ash tagging along slowly and looking back at Drew once more sadly.
Jess smirked, slowly closing the curtains. Drew opened his eyes slightly, "Don't leave," he barely whispered.
Ash, who obviously hadn't heard from his distance, shut the door behind him as he left the room.
Drew's eyes shut again, some kind of medicine taking over his body.
"Well? How is he?" Misty asked, walking up to them with Dawn and Leaf.
May gave a small smile, "He's fine... I'm still worried for some reason."
"He'll be alright," Gary said, smiling. "Don't worry too much, Jess said he'll be okay."
"Jess?" Leaf asked with an eyebrow raised.
"The doctor, she said to call her that. Dr. Hayman is her doctor name," he smirked, "It's okay Leafy, I still think you're prettier."
She rolled her eyes playfully, "Glad to know you're back to normal."
"So... should we leave now?" Misty asked.
Ash nodded, "Yeah, I guess so. We'll have to quit the competition. Without Drew, we aren't complete."
A sad look came upon all of the girls, but Dawn nodded. "At least Drew will be okay."
Without a word, they exited the hospital and got back into the car. The ride back was in complete silence as well. The same words happened to ring inside May's head.
It's your fault.
They reached the house, in silence of course. When they entered, they saw all the contestants sitting there, waiting for them.
Ash walked forwards, "He's okay!"
Everyone let out a sigh of relief, smiling. Most of them scattered, some came and gave sympathy to Ghost of the Night. Korrina approached them, "So what are you going to do guys?"
Paul sighed, "We're going to quit."
Korrina raised a brow, "Are you sure?" then, she nodded, "I guess you have no choice. How long will Drew be in hospital?"
"A couple of months probably," Gary answered.
"Then you'll have to leave, unfortunately. I'm very sorry, boys," she said sympathetically. "It's really a shame, you were one of the favourites of this show. Say your goodbyes tonight, you'll leave tomorrow morning."
Ash nodded, "Will do. We'll begin packing."
Smiling sadly, Korrina turned around and left, shutting the large doors behind her. "Let's go," Paul said, not looking back at the girls.
Dawn frowned slightly, she realised he was probably mad at her. I'll talk to him later. He doesn't seem in the right mood... then again, he's never in the mood to talk.
As the boys left, The Candies approached Eye of the Liepard. Leaf narrowed her eyes, "Hello," she said curtly.
Megan replied, "Hey, Leaf."
Leaf was surprised with her normal greeting, she was taken aback. She narrowed her eyes once more, "What are you up to this time?"
She sighed, "Nothing. I just want to apologise for anything rude I said to you."
Melody stepped forward, "Me too."
Brianna sighed, "Same here."
"Whatever, I do too," Ursula said, rolling her eyes.
The four girls were taken aback, "Wha?" May said, confused.
Megan rolled her eyes, "We said sorry. Now accept our apology."
"Oh, right," May said, still partially confused, "Thanks. I'm sorry too."
Misty frowned, "You shouldn't be sorry May, you didn't-"
Dawn put a hand on Misty's shoulder, cutting her off. "Misty, it's okay. Let's just do this and sort this thing out." Despite Misty's reluctant look, Dawn stepped forward, "I'm also sorry."
Leaf sighed, "Yeah, same." Everyone turned their heads toward Misty.
"Oh fine, I'm sorry," Misty said, giving in.
"I'm hungry," May randomly said.
Smiles spread across the two groups as May's random statement.
Melody smiled, "Should we-"
"May!"
The girls turned around to see Brendan, he was approaching May. He grinned, "Hey May, want to catch up?"
May hesitated, "Um, sure. Where?"
"The ice-cream parlour?" he answered.
May's face lit up, "Now?"
He nodded, "Sure."
Skipping happily, May went to the staircase. "Hold on, lemme get my bag. Sorry guys, I'm skipping out today!" she called out happily as she ran up the stairs.
Everyone sweat-dropped at May's antics. She never changed.
Dawn sat on a couch, sipping her coffee. She was alone in the living room, most people were out at the pool. She wasn't in the mood.
She turned her head in surprise as a familiar purple-head entered her room. "Paul?"
He sighed, "I'm leaving tomorrow. I just wanted to say bye."
Dawn's mug nearly fell out of her hand, "You came to say bye to me?"
Paul rolled his eyes, "Why wouldn't I? I pretty much just risked my life to save you. You think I wouldn't say bye after that?"
"No, of course not." Dawn sighed, "I'm sorry."
He raised a brow, "For what?"
"Everything. If it wasn't for us, Drew wouldn't be in that position and most of all, you wouldn't have had to leave..."
They sparkle just like diamonds in the moonlight. It's her. They're them. That's why... that's why!
Dawn was still going "-and then-"
"Dawn, I have to go," Paul stated simply, turning around. Images flashed through his mind, of his wretched childhood and the girl that changed his heart.
She frowned, "Wait, what? Why? Paul!"
"I'm really sorry about Drew," Brendan said, sticking his spoon into the sundae.
"It's alright, he's okay," May replied, taking a huge bite out of her ice cream.
Brendam smiled, "That's good. So, what's happening to him at the moment?"
A grim look came upon May's face, "He's comatose, he'll be like that for another couple of days."
"Oh. He must've been injured pretty badly," he commented. He looked down, his eyelids lowering, "I wish I'd been there for you like he did," he said quietly.
Taking in another spoonful of her ice cream, May replied, "Yep. Er... sorry what was that?"
"Nothing. Just, if you need anything... I'm here," he said, smiling.
May grinned, "Thanks! Wait... so anything?"
Brendan raised an eyebrow, "Yes...?"
"Great! Well then, I'll have another sundae," she replied cheerfully.
He sighed, internally face-palming. Nevertheless, he got her the sundae with a smile on his face. He loved seeing her happy.
Gary didn't think he could say everything to Leaf in person so he wrote her a note, planning to leave it on her pillow before he left.
"Guys, I've figured it out, I've figured everything out," Paul said, shutting the door behind him.
"What?" Ash asked, confused.
"It's them. Eye of the Liepard are the very same girls we set free all those years ago, I'm sure of it. It's also why Lysandre wants them back," Paul explained.
Gary put his pen down, his eyes widening. "So... Leaf... is..."
"Yep," Paul said, sitting on his bed.
"That explains why Misty looks so familiar!" Ash exclaimed.
"Shut up, they can't know. We just have to keep Lysandre away from them, and Drew," he explained again.
"I wonder what he's gonna do to us when we get back," Ash said sadly.
Gary smirked, "He'll do what he always does. But this time, we fight back. Together."
"They're leaving tomorrow," the shady character said into her phone. She crept along a wall, being careful not to be seen. "Follow them? Do I have to? Fine. Bye~!"
She sighed, I can't believe I'm doing this. I'm sorry guys. Well, here goes nothing.
"Dr. Conway, pass me that jar please," Dr. Hayman said, clicking her fingers.
Conway hesitated, "But... this one would..."
She smirked, "You think I don't know? Pass it over."
Dr. Conway passed over the jar to the other doctor, she smirked as the took it off him. She looked down at her patient, "Sorry if this hurts, sweetie."
Finally.
A/N: Jess. What are you doing. Jess. STAHP! So who is this doctor and what is she doing? Guessing time again~! XD And how do you like her?
Sorry if it's really short, it was rushed as I told you already. The boys have found out~! What are they gonna do with Lysandre?
Hoennshipping and The Candies being nice, Something I never thought I'd include in this story. Then again, pretty much all of my wacky, cray-cray ideas are winged.
Remember to PM me if you have an OC you'd like to include in my upcoming story! :P
Until next time~!
