Kristoff couldn't remember exactly how he had made his way to the cottage from the restaurant where he had met Elsa, but he wasn't surprised when he pulled into the familiar driveway. If he was going to make decisions about his future with Anna, it was probably for the best that he came to the place where he had fallen in love with her. It helped that he had bought the place off Sven the week before, because he didn't have to worry about some random tenant getting in his way.

He got out of his truck and slammed the door shut with a thud that resembled a shotgun blast. Beach goers turned to stare at him, both confused and annoyed that he had interrupted their vacations. He ignored them and headed into the cottage, needing to surround himself with the familiar so he could get his head on straight. It was probably lucky that he hadn't had time to stock the fridge with his favorite brand of beer. With the way he was feeling, he might have emptied an entire six pack without blinking and that wouldn't have been a great way to keep a clear head. It seemed fate was looking out for him… well, at least in one regard. He wasn't sure about the rest.

He tossed his keys onto the side table in the entry way and made his way into the living room where he collapsed onto the couch. Anna was pregnant… she was pregnant. How could he have not realized that? He had run his hand over every inch of her body and hadn't suspected a thing. The only possibility was that she hadn't been very far along at the time, not that it really mattered. What mattered was the fact that he finally knew the secret she had been hoarding so carefully during their time together. He now understood what had made her pull away from him when it felt like they were getting too close. He knew why she hadn't given him her number, why she hadn't called, why they were both hurting so badly now. He knew… but what was he going to do with that knowledge?

He rubbed a rough hand across his face, holding back a groan. Everything had been so simple before Anna. He had known exactly what he was doing with his life and had been satisfied with where it was going. Once he had met her his life had changed. He wasn't satisfied with being alone any longer, he had wanted Anna in his life for good. Did the fact that she was pregnant with her ex boyfriend's baby really change that? If he was honest… maybe a little.

It wasn't that he didn't love Anna, of course he did. How could he not? She was light and life and joy, all wrapped up in a sexy package. She was everything he wanted… and in his wallet he had her address.

He bolted upright, his eyes wide and round. He loved Anna. What else mattered? So she was pregnant, why was that such a big deal? He had been adopted, and his parents loved him. How would this be any different? It didn't sound like her ex was going to step up and offer any kind of support. Why couldn't he do it instead? He had had the thought several times over the past month that he loved her enough to give up the life he knew for one with her… so why didn't man up and do it? If he really loved her that much, a child shouldn't be the thing that stopped him from being with her. He could do this, he could step up and be the man that Anna needed.

He just needed to prove that to her.
