Magi: The Journey of a Guardian
Chapter 17: After the War and Things begin to stir…
Hi, time for another chapter of Magi: The Journey of a Guardian! Sorry it's been so long. I've got a new job, I've had my nephew over a lot (he is a HUGE distraction), and I've got lots of art to draw for people. Thanks for the review KatOfAwesome, I'll do a little side story about Robin learning magic to clear up things. I Hope everyone has a great new year!
I don't own magi or any of its characters!
Chapter 17: After the War and Things begin to stir…
Last Time….
Robin's POV…
So I helped personally with the re-building of Magnostadt, and now Aladdin and I were on a boat bound for Sindria.
"Aladdin, Robin! We've arrived." Alibaba declared. Darius Smiled after his assimilation he was left with his new eye and hair colour, pointed ears and fangs and a small pair of icy wings. We were welcomed by everyone.
"Welcome back. We've heard everything from Sin. Robin is that… Paperwork you're doing?" Ja'far asked. I looked up from my scroll and smiled.
"Yes, before I can join the celebrations, I need to get this done. I have to write reports on the war, legions, the medium and the re-building of Magnostadt. You'll be pleased to know my advisor, Darius, helps me with it." I said with a smile. Ja'far began yelling at Sin saying he should follow my example. I laughed. I walked over to Mor and Aladdin who were watching Alibaba.
"Feeling left out" I asked, while writing.
Both shook their heads and I smiled.
"Right then, that's done. I'll see you two later. Paperwork calls." I said, poking my tongue out making them laugh.
"Bye Robin, Have fun." Aladdin said, causing me to laugh.
"Yeah if your definition of fun is writing several reports which takes hours." I laughed.
Current Events…
Alibaba's POV
It was the morning after Robin's outburst. Apparently she still wasn't talking to her brother. Though…
*Flashback*
Darius nodded at us and left our room. .I sighed in relief and I turned to face Morgiana.
"Oi Morgiana how long do you think it'll take Aladdin to calm Robin down?" I joked. Morgiana raised a think pink eyebrow in a questioning manner.
"I think it will depend on Robin's frame of mind…" She muttered. All of a sudden we heard laughing and someone yelling. SLAM! Robin and Aladdin ran into the room laughing. They both slammed the door close and sat behind the door. The looked at each other and began to rock with laughter. I exchanged a look with Morgiana and turned back to face them.
"Hey what going on?" I asked taking in the pair's appearance. Robin's hair has out of its ponytail, her clothes slightly dirty and she had a bag which was crammed with all sorts. Meanwhile Aladdin's clothes were dirty and his hair was quite messy. Both of their faces were flushed slightly. Robin looked up and grinned.
"Give it a minute…" She said. BANG! BANG! BANG!
"HIME! I DEMAND YOU COME OUT NOW! AND YOU MAGI!" Darius' voice rang clear. Robin burst into laughter again.
"NOOOOPPPPEEEE! TRY AGAIN LATER!" Robin yelled.
"ASK US TOMORROW!" Aladdin yelled. The two looked at each other and grinned.
"What did you do?" Morgiana asked.
"Himitsu~~~" Robin sang cheerfully. Eventually we all heard footsteps, signalling Darius was leaving. The two got up and sat on the bed.
"Ah ha ha… I'm so dead tomorrow!" Robin exclaimed.
"Nope! I'll tell him it was my idea." Robin turned to Aladdin and pouted and playfully flicked him on the nose.
"No, Darius is a devil. You will not be able to stand his punishment! I'll take the blame!"
"No I will!"
"Aladdin, I will!"
"I will!"
"No I will!" I sighed at the two.
"HOW ABOUT WE ALL GO TO SLEEP!?" I yelled. They both looked and me and nodded.
"Fine~~" They both chorused. Jeez what's gotten into them?
*End of flashback*
I grinned… I wonder if Aladdin… No…. oh well I can ask them later. Though I have more important things to worry about….. I walked into the banqueting room to see Sharkkan, Pisti, Olba, Toto, Aladdin, Robin and Morgiana all laughing.
"Toto is not Alibaba's lover. His lover is the gladiator beast Garda." Olba said. I could see Robin trying not to laugh.
"The Gladiator beast Garda?" Aladdin asked.
"An Ape. She's a female… Ape who is twice bigger than Morgiana's Masters and My master." Toto explained.
"REALLY!?" Sharkkan asked before bursting out into laughter. This then set Robin off. Morgiana muttered something causing Robin to stop laughing and start patting her back and whispering something to her.
"Ah Alibaba! You Bastard~~~ you were joking! How many girls did you really play with in the time you were away?" Sharkkan asked.
"Zero." I muttered, keeping my face stoic "I lied to everyone."
"What's happening? Alibaba looks blank. It's like-"Pisti said before Sharkkan covered her mouth.
Robin's POV
I watched as all the boys set off, going to drink due to Alibaba. Morgiana and Toto looked at me as I sighed.
"Robin?" Mor questioned and I laughed, I could feel that I was blushing slightly.
"Ha Ha… Nothing!" I said a little too quickly. Pisti leered at me.
"Ohooo~~~ I sense something has happened with our little princess."
"N-N-NO!" I protested and then stood up "I-I'm going to Practice riding Sephirot… haha… B-bye." I said walking away but Mor grabbed my hand. I turned and my face paled at Mor and Pisti's expressions.
"I-I'm doomed aren't I?" I stuttered to which Pisti nodded but Mor let go. I instantly took my chance. I placed two fingers in my mouth and gave a shrill whistle. I grabbed my staff and ran.
"Thanks Mor! Pisti, you'll never know by the way." I yelled jumping off the balcony onto Sephirot's saddle. I grabbed the reigns and waved at them. With a flick of my wrists I was swiftly taken away.
"YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY FROM ME THAT EASILY!" I heard Pisti yell. I turned to see her on her trusty partner following me. I quickly sat down and flicked the reigns again.
"PISTI LEAVE ME ALONE!" I yelled.
"Never~~~!" She yelled in response.
*A month later*
Mor, Alibaba, Aladdin and I all stood in Sindbad's meeting room.
"EH!? What do you mean Sindbad!? An 'invitation letter' came from Ren Kouen!?" Alibaba asked and then Sindbad explained what he meant.
"Uncle Kouen is quite arrogant." Aladdin stated.
"He is a prince after all." Alibaba said and I sighed.
"Let's all remember how it actually came to this." I said and Aladdin pouted.
"They're asking for an escort. Even though I'd love to tell him… Any way Ren Kouen is asking for Aladdin, Alibaba and Robin to be his escorts" Sindbad said.
"Sindbad that's-"I held my hand up stopping Mor's words.
"Surely he would know that I personally would be escorting my brother. And also Aladdin would be busy organising the summit." I said and Ja'far nodded.
"Yes but the invitation is to Balbaad." Sindbad said and we all looked at Alibaba.
"Is this a way to tell Alibaba that he can set foot in his own kingdom?" Aladdin asked
"I would think it's more than that Aladdin." I whispered in his ear.
"I Understand. I will go there alone!" Alibaba said and we all locked at him shocked.
*Mini time skip*
After Alibaba apologised to us and walked off I turned to Morgiana.
"Mor ignore everything Alibaba said about staying here, you're going with him." I said, placing a hand on my hip.
"Robin! But Alibaba said-"Aladdin complained.
"I know but hear me out! I've been using my prophetic abilities to see what's going to happen and the times Alibaba has gone to Balbaad alone it's not had a good outcome. At least with Mor there it will prevent certain things from happening!" I explained.
"Like?" Mor asked and I sighed.
"Minor details, but please Mor go with him. I personally don't like the idea of him going alone and I'm sure you don't too!" I said. Aladdin nodded.
"Mor! I think it'll be better if you go to." Aladdin said and we smiled at each other. Mor nodded.
"I will go with Alibaba to Balbaad!" She said with determination.
"Then it's decided!" I said with a smile
*The next day*
Aladdin and I laughed as we could hear Alibaba's shouts from the deck of the boat.
"Robin do you think they'll be alright?" Aladdin asked. I sighed and scratched the back of my head.
"I can't say for sure due to your mistake. But I believe they should be fine." I said and Aladdin put his staff down and hugged me.
"O-oi! Aladdin!?" I asked, shocked slightly by his outburst.
"Sindbad said nothing about me going to Neathia by the way." My eyes widened at his comment then I smiled.
"Well after you've done a little research we'll leave. We don't need to leave for a couple of days." I mused.
"Hmmm I wonder if I'll find anything in Uncle Sindbad's library…" Aladdin said as we watched the ship sail off. We both walked to the library.
Aladdin's POV
I sat down in the Library, surrounded by books. I quickly scanned each page, hoping to find something…
"Hahahaha! Really!? That happened!? The idiot! Hahaha!" I heard Robin's distinct laugh and looked up from my book to see her sat on the edge of a bookshelf looking at a ruhk on her hand.
"Robin?" She turned and looked at me and smiled.
"Hehe Sorry. Just this little guy told me something funny. Sorry for disturbing you." Robin apologised. I sighed and began reading again.
Hey Aladdin. What kind of Book are you reading?
"Robin you were the one who chose this. It's a magic book remember. Though it talks about the ruhk. I think there are still so many secrets in this world…" I said aloud
Oh I see. That's a cool magic tool by the way…
"Professor Irene gave it to me. This makes reading old characters easy" I said
Aladdin that wasn't me… I'm not talking to you…
Instantly my glasses were taken off me. They began floating in mid-air and rose towards the ceiling.
"Who's there?!" I yelled as Robin jumped from her perch and landed next to me.
"Only a trickster." Robin laughed, winking at me. All of a sudden the blonde travelling Magi landed near us.
"Hey! It's me Yunan! That's not funny Princess!" Yunan said with a pout. Robin grinned.
"Well you kind of are one." She said poking her tongue out at him.
"Yunan! Don't startle me like that! Why did you come here out of the blue!?" I asked and Robin smiled.
"Isn't that obvious Aladdin?" Robin laughed but then frowned.
"Robin?" I asked seeing the frown. She looked up and I noticed her brown eyes seemed slightly cold.
"Sorry Aladdin, I need to go somewhere…. Trickster if you do anything to Aladdin, I will not be impressed. Aladdin, I'll see you later. If anything happens… You know how to get a hold of me." Robin said before turning away and walking out the room. Yunan sighed.
"I do wonder with her… She seems to see everything in more clarity than I can…." Yunan murmured.
"What do you mean?" I asked and he smiled.
*Mini Time skip*
Robin's POV
"Ja'far, How long are we planning on letting him attempt in vain to break the borg around the house?" I asked as we watched Sindbad trying to break the borg with Baal's equip. Ja'far sighed and shook his head.
"I don't know… How long will those two be?"
"They won't be coming out anytime soon Ja'far…" I muttered. After I had walked off to cool my head after a vision, I returned to see a wooden house with a borg and Sindbad trying to break it. So my first thoughts were to get Ja'far and that is what has led us to come to this.
Ja'far pinched the bridge of his nose and I sighed.
"Ja'far do you want me to calm him down?" I asked and he nodded. I smiled and handed him my staff.
"Look after it for me please." I said and turned away from him, walking towards Sindbad. I stood directly underneath the king and placed a foot against the borg. There was a firm resistance, I smiled.
"Ja, here we go!" I said to myself and I began to run up the borg, stopping at the top. I turned to see Sindbad had stopped and looked very confused. I laughed.
"Is that all it took to make you stop? Sindbad, All they are doing is talking and it will be over soon enough. For now shall we talk about the summit?" I asked, hoping that there would be no need for violence. Sindbad growled and continued attacking the borg. I sighed. My hand reached for my boot and from the heel, I pulled out a metal pin.
"Sindbad…" I muttered in a dark, dangerous tone which caused him to raise his head and he paled.
I smirked and threw the pin at him, it buried itself in his exposed shoulder. His eyes widened and then glazed over. His equip became undone and he began to fall to the ground. I quickly jumped and caught him. I walked over to Ja'far and handed him his king.
"I used a weak sleeping drought on him, give him 3-4 hours and he'll wake up." I said with a smile.
"3-4 hours! And you call that weak!?" I laughed at Ja'far's reaction.
"Well of course. That stuff isn't potent enough to knock me out for at least a minuet." I said with a smirk. I walked towards the borg.
"Anyway if he wanted this broken, he could have asked." I said aloud, grabbing the borg. With one swift pull, the thing shattered. I turned at Ja'far and smiled. I quickly grabbed my staff and walked up to the door. I replaced the borg I had broken, knocked on the door and opened it.
I popped my head around the door.
"Sindbad's getting cranky, you may want to wrap this up soon… or at least he was…" I informed the two magi. Aladdin and Yunan turned to face me.
"How did you get in?"- Yunan
"Uncle Sindbad is getting Cranky?"- Aladdin
"What do you mean by 'at least he was'?" – Yunan
"Robin what did you do!?"- Aladdin.
I sighed at the questions, entering the room and shutting the door.
"To answer your questions: 1- I broke the borg around the house. 2- Sindbad was getting verrrrryyy annoyed over the whole 'building a house surrounded by a borg in my palace grounds' and started to attack the borg in frustration. 3&4- I effectively shut him up…" I said. Aladdin raised an eyebrow at my last answer.
"What di-"
"A weak sleeping drought."
"How di-"
"I may have covered a throwing pin with it and it may have embedded itself in his exposed shoulder…" I murmured, rubbing the back of my neck. Aladdin groaned, his head hit the table.
Yunan on the other hand looked at me like I had a death wish. I chuckled nervously…
"Robin…. Threw…." Yunan muttered under his breath. I held my hands up in surrender.
"He was beyond reasoning! He ignore Ja'far and I! If he carried on something would have got destroyed if he carried on!" I exclaimed. Yunan laughed while Aladdin groaned.
"Hahahaha, Hime-san is too violent!" Yunan laughed. I walked over to the table and slammed my hands down onto it.
"It's not my fault I instinctively use violent methods to solve certain situation!" I protested. Yunan smirked.
"Hoho~ so is Hime-san going to use violence to solve this?" Yunan teased. I gritted my teeth.
"Yunan… Testing my patience is not a good idea…" I said in a warning tone.
"Robin how strong was it?" Aladdin said, his voice slightly muffled as his face was still on the table.
"Not enough to make me drowsy." I muttered. Aladdin raised his head from the table.
"How is that measurement?" he asked. I shrugged.
"By tasting it I can gauge its strength and estimate how long it will take for the victim to wake up." I muttered, pouting slightly. With that both Yunan and Aladdin started to laugh.
"O-oi what's so funny?!" I questioned, though my words seemed to fall on deaf ears.
*Time skip*
Alibaba's POV
I looked in shock at Sindbad and Kouen. Both bringing extra protection, extra strength to protect themselves if a fight started.
"Um, where's Leo?" I asked, which caused everyone to turn to me.
"I'm right here Alibaba! Jeez you lot need to open your eyes." Leo's voice resounded in the summit room. We all looked to see Leo on Sindbad's right with his household surrounding him. Behind them where several figures cloaked in black. Everyone looked at him, confused by the figures but he waved the looks off.
After minuets of arguing, Kouen exclaimed that he wished for everyone to get to the point. Instantly Yunan appeared causing everyone, including myself to be surprised.
"Yunan!" Sindbad yelled, getting up and preparing to strike him. A knife sailed through the air, embedding itself in the wall next to Sindbad's head.
"That's enough Sindbad. This is a place of discussion, not conflict. Should you disturb the balance then I will remove you from the hall." A familiar voice stated. We turned to see Robin walk into the room, minus her staff. Yunan smiled at her.
"Robin, as Guardian will be a kind of Mediator to stop any conflict in the room. So if you do start a fight, she will remove you from the room and then calm down everyone left." Yunan stated as Robin walked to his side in the middle of the hall.
"Exactly Yunan. So Sindbad, Sit down and Stop causing a scene. Remember this is a sharing of information and it is not a war ground." Robin said which caused Sindbad to sit down and Kouen to smirk.
"Well now that's over, let me introduce the two friends who will be having the leading role today!" Yunan exclaimed, pointing his staff to the sky to reveal two silhouettes. Instantly they began to descend, revealing Aladdin and Titus.
"Was there really a need for us to arrive in such a flashy way?" Aladdin asked the blonde magi.
"Just follow the director's orders. Plus we look cool! And it's exciting!" Titus exclaimed with a grin.
"Aladdin!" Sindbad and I exclaimed in shock as they landed.
The three Magi and the Guardian stood together, looking at everyone present.
"Gathered Kings. There is something I want to tell you all. Something no one knows. About another world. About Alma Toran." Aladdin said, causing silence to fall.
END
I have change my mind, I'm going to write the Alma Toran Arc. So be prepared for one hell of a ride. Oh and from now on, I'm going to write a side story with each chapter!
Side story: Robin's Magic lessons!
Robin's POV (This is set on the way back from Magnostadt)
I sighed and collapsed onto my hammock, which caused Aladdin to laugh.
"What!? I'm just tired, what's there to laugh at?" I cried, slightly annoyed at Aladdin's antics.
"Nothing. Don't worry, I just remembered something funny." Aladdin replied, sitting in the hammock next to me. I raised an eyebrow at him which caused him to smile innocently at me. I sighed again, grabbing my notebook from my bad and opening it.
"Oh Robin?" I looked up from my notes and at Aladdin.
"Yes?"
"I was wondering…. When did you learn magic? And who from? I've been wondering since the battle about it." Aladdin asked. I closed my notebook and turned myself to face him.
"In Neathia, under Lisanna who is my brother's personal magician. Though I only know lightning magic, protection magic, levitation and a small amount fire magic. Any other magic I've used, I was using Alyla's sight which allows me to access the last guardian's memories and magic so… Without Alyla's sight, I can't really do much magic." I laughed and then frowned remembering something.
"Robin?"
"I was just remembering Lisanna's magic lessons…"
"Really!? What were they like?"
"Painful."
"Bu-"I waved my hand, motioning for Aladdin to stop.
"I use it as a figure of speech. Anyway, let's say after a little incident, Lisanna decided I should learn magic. So she forced me to spend ages reading and what not. But I only ended up mastering lightning, levitation and protection magic. As for the fire… I asked Helios for a little help with that." I said.
"Tell me about a lesson!" Aladdin exclaimed.
"Why?"
"Because it seems interesting!" Aladdin said and I sighed in defeat.
"Fine…." I said and began my story…
-Flashback-
"ROBIN NAJEM GET BACK HERE NOW!" Lisanna screamed from behind me as I ran through the palace.
"NO!" I yelled in response. I was sick and tired of just reading magic books. After the temple incident, that's all it's been: 'read this, read that.' Lisanna somehow managed to catch up to me, we were neck and neck.
"Come back this instant." She said, looking very annoyed.
"No! I'm tired of reading! I've got better ways of wasting my time!" I yelled, spotting an open window, I turned and leapt out of it and landed on the ground floor. I quickly began to make my way out of the court yard but all the exits became sealed with ice. I groaned and turned to face the angry, white haired magician. Lisanna looked extremely hacked off.
"If you're so tired of reading… How about a practical?" She said raising her staff.
"Oh shit…" I muttered.
"Thalg Rasas!" Lisanna yelled, causing several icicles to be fired at me. I paled. There's no way I'm going to… WAIT that protection spell! After muttering the incantation, a strong, crystal-like barrier appeared around me, blocking all the icicles. The barrier shattered and I gulped at what I saw. A huge fire ball. Lisanna smirked and I held my hands up in surrender.
"I-I-I'll come with you… I give up… I don't want to be charcoal today." I said, causing the magician to smile. The fire ball disappeared and the white haired Magician landed on the ground and ruffled my hair.
"Good job. I can safely say you're done with the protection magic books if you could pull of that spell. Now come on, there's more to be done." She said and walked off, leaving me confused. I stood there for a while and it clicked in my head. Less reading!
"Hell yes!" I shouted in triumph and began to run back to Lisanna's office.
-End of flashback-
"So most of the time you ran away from the lessons and ended up getting into a fight? And you remembered something which caused you to move on?" Aladdin asked and I nodded.
"Yeah… let's just say at that point of time, there was a lot on my mind and reading seemed very unimportant." I laughed. Aladdin then began to laugh hysterically.
"What!? What's so funny!?" I almost yelled. Aladdin grinned.
"And you always tell me to keep out of trouble! You spent most of your magic lessons making trouble for yourself and teacher. And you say to me to 'keep out of trouble'. Hahahaha!" Aladdin laughed.
"Hey it's not that funny. Aladdin!" I yelled. The pair of us began play fighting until we fell to the floor.
"Robin, Aladdin is everyt-"We both stopped to see a red faced Alibaba.
"What?" Be both asked in perfect sync.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you…" He muttered, slamming the door and then yelled outside.
"GOD DAMNIT ALADDIN. WHY YOU BEFORE ME!?"
Aladdin and I looked at each other.
"What does he mean by that?" Aladdin asked and I realized our position. My cheeks grew hot. Alibaba had seen me straddling Aladdin's waist. I quickly leapt of him and ran outside.
"A-A-A-ALIBABA WAIT! IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK!" I yelled, running after the blonde, off to try and clear up the misunderstanding.
-End-
